Alpha Aniki (a.k.a. Alphonse Mackenzie,) is an augmented futuristic drummer and aspiring rockstar. He lives in Tokyo (Shinjuku) in 2123 and streams into the past on Twitch thanks to the alien properties of the slime from his "snailien" friend, Klawed. Klawed is a pink, grey, and blue extra terrestrial who lives off glizzies (hot dogs) and serves as Alpha's constant companion; he's an "S-tier wingman" and is a beloved character on TikTok (much to Alpha's chagrin).

In Alpha's words, he is "the best big brother you never had". This moniker is less about dispensing wisdom and being overprotective than it is about having fun, causing shenanigans, and playing video games. He is also a drummer, lyricist, and vocalist in the band "Midnight Howl", his rock band.

Alpha may or may not be voiced and piloted by acclaimed voice actor Jonah Scott, but he prefers to keep the two identities separate. Alpha says that Jonah is his upstairs neighbor, and he stole his twitch channel from him.

Personality[]

Alpha appreciates all things classic rock; Route 66, vinyl records, hair metal, prog rock, and lots of 'analog' (as it is considered by the standards of 2123) recorded music. Despite his insistence on this hard rocker exterior with a tough, confident, flirtatious persona, Alpha is as sweet as fancy 2123 future space candy.

He reads the chat scroll at a near inhuman speed, and makes all newcomers to the stream feel welcomed and engaged with. When Alpha has a guest on or is a guest on another stream, he always makes his guests feel at home and keeps conversation flowing effortlessly. Despite streaming sometimes having to take a back seat to real life or other outside projects, he never misses a collaboration, and brings high energy and infectious laughter to every stream he participates in.

As a character, he is a visionary and a creative to the core. Flighty, stubborn, and sometimes a touch irresponsible, he is known to work at his own pace (to the chagrin of his band mates in Midnight Howl,) but the results can't be argued. He is explosive and passionate, and the songs he writes reflect that inner fire.

Alpha has dark purple hair (he has described it as "Raven coloured") with pink lowlights in a ponytail bun, a beauty mark, pink and teal eyes with an eye scar, a cybernetic arm, and multiple tattoos.

History[]

Background[]

Not much is known for certain about Alpha's history, family, or why he has the cybernetic arm. The little that we do know is that he was born in Riverside, Iowa, but moved to Tokyo (specifically Shinjuku) with his mom at 13. Because he moved when he was older, he doesn't speak much Japanese as "most of the people here speak English, and the signs are all in Japanese". He has confirmed he currently works as a waiter and dishwasher at Kai Ken's Rockin' Takoyaki House. He has had other jobs as a deli manager, landscaper, and a babysitter (for three years). Rather than a more traditional Vtuber launch with a mini lore video or comic, Alpha opted to launch with a teaser video and a debut stream. More lore has been hinted at or revealed during his redebut stream.

He had a redebut stream on June 30th, 2023 showing off his new models, toggles, and music, where more lore was revealed.

More lore will be released in the near future, as a 100 page graphic novel directed by JMBAD_art is currently in the works, with official Kickstarter pre-orders set to start in 2023. Example pages have been shown on stream, and a mini comic by Viera B. have been released as a sub goal. Alpha is also accepting donations via his Streamlabs to help offset some of the novel costs, given the scale of the art and work planned is very extensive. The first volume of the graphic novel takes place before Alpha began streaming, and will serve to elaborate upon his backstory and wider lore.

Concept art and some earlier sketches show Alpha in various physical iterations, with the cybernetic arm remaining constant, as he has had it since age 13; although the circumstances surrounding how he lost the arm in the first place have yet to be confirmed on stream or in other canon materials.

Some minor lore tidbits been partially confirmed in some streams, mostly regarding the other VTubers/Content Creators who live in the same time and city as Alpha (2123 and Tokyo).

  • CL/Ciel is a recent arrival to Future Japan, and is the "live in sound tech for several rock bands" , which while not listed by name is hinted to be Midnight Howl
  • NateTheMoth/Lepido Lamplight is involved with a Cafe in Future Tokyo, in what capacity it hasn't been fully discussed yet
  • Jo/JMBAD is a waitress in KaiKen's "Rocking Takoyaki Bar" (the Takoyaki place where Alpha works), and staying in CL's guest room
  • Kaimeriss is a chimera and possibly involved with a Cat Cafe in Future Tokyo
  • CyYuVTuber is Alpha's "ripper doc" who maintains Alpha's Cybernetic Arm

Klawed Salad

Klawed Mackenzie is Alpha's best friend and near constant companion. He is a "snailien", and differs from traditional earth snails in both his level of intellect and where his eyeballs are located. Klawed's eyes are on the front of his face above tiny blush marks, (adorable) while typical terrestrial snails have theirs on top of stalks, (gross but pragmatic). At Klawed's sole discretion, he can communicate telepathically with Alpha via a TTS function, and a communicator that sounds suspiciously similar to various Animal Crossing characters. Despite Alpha's insistence at his youth, Klawed is at least 1,500 years old (confirmed during the Seiso show with El_xox). Klawed hangs out on Alpha's shoulder and is also animated in tandem with Alpha, as the two will squint, look the same direction or at each other, and move their mouths at the same time, (though Klawed's motions are much more subtle.) He also eats glizzies (hot dogs) at a nearly breakneck pace when Alpha isn't paying attention. Apparently, he also tastes like bubblegum if you lick the back of his shell, although Alpha is the only one capable of doing so.

Klawed has streamed solo when Alpha has had to attend band practice, with chat keeping an eye on him while he games. While he isn't allowed to play too many adult games, chat tends to look the other way, (don't tell Alpha).

After consuming too many Glizzies, Klawed will divide into another identical Klawed. These other Klaweds will go visit other streamer friends of Alpha's or make other unexpected appearances online. Klawed is a good snailien, but tends to find himself in mischief from time to time - for example, the time he visted DayumDahila on her stream and wrecked shop, or when Alpha guested on her stream with Klawed in tow only to have him break the entire hotel room and then run freely around the streets of Tokyo.

In addition to streaming with Alpha, he currently hangs out with TruckChan on her shoulder, promoting Alpha's song Neon Fire on a tiny banner.

Toggles and Chat Interaction[]

With the recent addition of new Klawed functions, Alpha's model can now be swapped over to the Snalien for a high number of channel points. Once the "Klawed Model" is on, there are several things that chat can make him do, but it's better to see them in action over on Alpha's channel. Some of Alpha's other Vtuber friends have acquired the new Klawed model, with "Terminator Mode" becoming a quick favourite. There are four separate actions available, as well as slightly better facial tracking from Alpha's face to Klawed's.

Klawed's new model (and old model) were rigged by "HamsterCrumbs". While Klawed's model started as a bit of a quick in joke, he quickly grew to be a chat favourite.

Musical Career & Midnight Howl[]

Alpha makes no secret of his goal to be "the World's Greatest Rockstar", and he plays and practices with his band Midnight Howl to make that happen. Currently he is the band's drummer, co-lyricist, and vocalist. He has a near encyclopedic knowledge of rock music from 1970-1980, and that influence can be heard in their singles.

Other members of the band are Fleas (bassist), Clapton (vocalist, co-lyricist, and rhythm guitar), and Jimi (lead guitar). All information about them is taken from the images provided during the band announcements on Twitter, but for readability has been typed out here.

Outside of fiction, Midnight Howl is produced by Isaak Wolf.

Alpha is in the early stages of fundraising, moving to an official Kickstarter in the next few months. Ongoing donations are being collected via his streamlabs, the link of which can be found on his Twitch "About" page.

In the graphic novel, there are will be several billboards that will feature other Vtubers. Many of Alpha's stream friends are involved, with plans to add more as the project progresses.
