Asano Sisters Project (朝ノ姉妹ぷろじぇくと, Asano Shimai Purojekuto) is a VTuber duo of Asano Ruri (朝ノ瑠璃) and Asano Akane (朝ノ茜). Originally a trio, their third sister Asano Hikari (朝ノ光) retired in 2019. Hikari was actually the only talent who was planned to be in the project at its conception. Ruri is the most active member of the duo, as Akane was on a hiatus for over a year between 2022 and 2023 and after her return she only makes sporadic appearances.

Originally the sisters shared Hikari's model with different headbands, Hikari's purple, Ruri's blue and Akane's pink with light purple hair. Few months after debut, Ruri debuted her second model with new clothes and hairstyle no longer using a headband but a blue morning glory flower ornament. On the other hand Akane kept using her original model but as Hikari retired that appearance became unique to her, just getting a short hair update.
Eventually Akane also received a brand new model, with different clothes, hairstyle and smaller chest compared to Ruri. In 2021 both sisters debuted their third models which differentiate the sister's color palette, Ruri's clothes are purple and black while Akane's clothes are pink and black.

The project stared with a video of Hikari playing "Super Mario Maker" on 31 March 2018.[7]
On 1 May 2018, Hikari formally introduced herself in a short video.[8]
On 2 May 2018, Ruri debuted on the channel with an introductory video.[9]
On 4 May 2018, Akane debuted on the channel with an introductory video. As triplets the sisters have an identical appearance with a headband of different color to distinguish them.[10]
2018[]
On 12 October, Ruri debuted as a voice actress voicing the character "Dina" (ディナ) in the game "Thousand Memories" by Akatsuki Inc.[11]
2019[]
On 19 February, Hikari retired from her activities as a VTuber.[12]
2020[]
On 3 August, their YouTube channel reached 100,000 subscribers.[13]
2021[]
On 4 August, Ruri announced that she would get a new 3D costume.[14]
On 8 August, in celebration of her third anniversary, Ruri debuted a new 3D costume during a live. This costume give her a much more distinctive look. The kimono potion of her costume can be removed.[15]
On 7 September, Akane debuted a new 3D costume. This costume give her a much more distinctive look.[16]
Also on this date Ruri's Twitter account was verified.[17]
On 2 October, it was announced that Ruri won an audition to be cast as the voice actress of Ecute for the third season of the anime adaptation of Jashin-chan Dropkick X. Ruri was selected from 11 finalists by the votes of fans who had purchased Dropkick on My Devil! merchandise and a total of 1661 participants since the auditions started. Previous to this Ruri gave reports regarding the status of her auditions.[18] This fulfilled her dream of becoming a VTuber to have a mayor role as a voice actress in an anime.[19][20]
On 1 November, Ruri announced on her Twitter account that she would be joining Crocodile Co., Ltd. a company that represent various voice actors.[21]
2022[]
On 2 January, Akane announced that she would go on a long undefined hiatus to achieve other goals.[22][23]
On 13 August, during her birthday live, Ruri debuted two color variants of her 2021 costume. One is black and red and the other white and purple.[24]
On 20 September, Ruri launched her official website.[25]
2023[]
On 30 March, Ruri debuted her fourth 3D costume. Ruri received three new hairstyles. The first is a bob haircut. In the other two she uses short low twintails falling on her shoulders. Ruri wears loungewear. She has a stripped pink hoodie which hat has animal ears. Underneat she wears purple t-shirt with print of a triangle and the words "Bermunda Triangle" under it. Ruri has black shorts with a white outline. She wears Nori-themed slippers.[26]
On 7 May, Akane returned after her hiatus in a stream alongside Ruri.[27]
On 4 August, Victor Entertainment's website announced that Ruri had signed on with the company, her major debut is scheduled for 1 November 2023 with the release of her album "Hyakka Ryouran."[28]

- On 24 March 2019, Ruri had her first VR live event on Cluster.
- On 5 December 2019, Ruri and Akane made an appearance in the game "Dawn of the Breakers" as playable characters.[29]
- On 1 April 2020, Compile Heart announced on their Twitter account that the Ruri and Akane, would made an appearance on the game Neptunia Virtual Stars, alongside Todoki Uka and Sifir Esirer.[30]
- On 10 December 2021, it was announced via Gamebiz that Ruri would cast as a voice actor for Tokita Shiori in the visual novel "Shiori no Kotoha -Dark Reflections-."[31] alongside four other VTubers, including Mitsurugi Lia and Hizuki Miu.

Ruri's voice acting[]
- The role of Ecute in Jashin-chan Dropkick X was her first major role on an anime.
- However she technically debuted earlier as she voiced and interpreted herself in the prologue episode of the anime "Suisei no Fräulein" (彗星のフロイライン) that features various VTubers such as MaiR, AZKi, Ginga Alice, and Kuramochi Kyoko. This is because Suisei no Fräulein aired on 1 April 2022 while Jashin-chan Dropkick X began airing in July of 2022 (with Ecute's first appearance happening in September).
- On 22 January 2019, it was announced that Ruri would be a voice actress for a character in a small game by doujin group Charon.
- On 17 June 2023, Ruri got her first anime protagonist role interpreting Eiko in Gyaku Isekai Tensei Agent Eiko-san.
- Ruri is also the voice of the character Kazamatsuri Akemi in the multi-media Jazz project swing,sing.
- Ruri is the first (and currently only) VTuber to be included in the Seiyuu Grand Prix directory.

- As part of an attempt to reach 10000 YouTube subscribers, Ruri did a 100-song challenge video, singing over a period of almost 5 hours.
- In a livestream, Hikari started crying while describing how appreciative she was of her big sister's efforts to help their project gain popularity, which is difficult in the crowded VTuber market.
- Ruri's 100-song challenge was removed due to copyright questions about the original source.
- On 15 December 2018, Ruri did a 110-song challenge, including a 111th which was an original song.
- Ruri appears as the protagonist of her visual novel "Ruriiro Days -Heavenly Blue-" alongside her sister Akane, Annin Miru, AMENOSEI, Tenkai Tsukasa among others.
