Evelyn, more commonly called Epel, is a female Indonesian Virtual Creator from channel Hai Halo Epel! who debuted on 2 December 2018 and introduce herself officially on 13 January 2019.

She currently a productive N.E.E.T, meaning that she doesn't have a steady job and tends to take any decent odd jobs for earn some money. Content creating is one of her side job. At one day, she was hit by a truck that gives her ability to leap from virtual world into our world and she use this ability to make more contents and meet Epelables (her fan's name) on events. She want to make a lot of friends and become mood booster for everyone through her contents while she make money for her living as well. But despite of money, her main goal remains same. To make a comfy place where everyone could have fun and be happy together.

Her channel's contents ranges from free talks, let's plays, song covers, karaoke, ASMR, random contents, cooking, hand cam streams, story readings and problem consultations. Her contents were mostly VODs (Video On Demand) before she started following the live streaming trend in late August 2019[1]. She currently focuses on live streams while at some time she going back to make random VODs and starts to share reels, shorts, or TikTok videos that focused on skits, trivia, stream clips, random talk or POV, and motivational or reassurance messages that still related to her goal to become mood booster for people.

She was a member and one of the founder of Re:Memories, the independent agency founded by her former team. On 30 April 2022, she announced that she separate herself from the team and become an solo, independent VTuber.[2]

For celebration of her 4th birthday and anniversary on December 2022, she released "kawepel". An isekai version of herself on kigurumi form so she could create more diverse contents and meet her supporters in person.

Personality[]

Evelyn has a warm and friendly personality towards her viewers. She has a "good girl" persona. She's sweet, caring, full of affection, and tends to avoid sensitive issues, as well as strong or bad words and profanities. She is described as a humble, genuine and hardworking girl since she interacts with her viewers regularly by trying to reply to most all of their comments on her YouTube and social media every day. She willing to help people and want to grow together with her community because she wants to be a mood booster and considers her viewers as her friends and family.

But in the other hand, she's a bit naive, goofy, childish and very very seiso (she actually don't understand when people throw NSFW terms or jokes). Not to mention that she tends to throw dad jokes, puns, or other cheap and lame jokes on her social media that would make you want to laugh but also want to slap her as well.

She have signature laugh: Hu⇘Hi⇗Hu⇘Hi⇗Hu⇘Hi⇗ sometimes along with a kettle noise afterward or noises describe as a dolphin noise or squeezed mouse.

She can't stand loud noises or jump scares. She gets startled quite easily, and her screaming noise is really dangerous for your ears.

She is also considered as a Yandere since in one of her video, it shows her making some chocolate for Valentine's day as she mentioned that she'll add cyanide to it. She also did some yandere voice notes on some video. However, despite these claims from viewers, Evelyn denies that she is a yandere.

Appearance[]

Evelyn first appearance is a young woman with a relatively slim body, oval face, red eyes, and long sea blue hair with an ahoge (one strand of hair sticking out from the top of the head). She wears a white blouse and a blue patterned skirt, accessorized with a blue patterned bowtie to match her skirt, a blue belt with a red heart clasp, as well as red frills. Her dominant color scheme is blue, pink and white.

She got new costume on her 1st birthday. Her V.2 outfit is a white and pink, sleeveless button-up dress resembling a maid outfit, accessorized with pink frills, a pink ribbon on her collar, as well as a blue ribbon under her bust. She wears frilled white arm bands on her arms, adorned with pink ribbons. She also wears a white, ruffled thigh garter on her left thigh. She wears black strapped heels with ruffled socks. Her hair is accessorized with a heart shaped with big white wings hair clip on her bangs, as well as a big pink ribbon on the left side of her head. Evelyn is shown wearing bell earring on her left ear. Her hair is pink at the tips, and her ahoge is slightly shorter in length.

She got another new costume at 2021 valentine's day. This V.3 outfit is more casual because it's supposed for dating (with you). The inner is a sleeveless blue dress with belt and it have straps that connect the dress to the collar. There's also cuff on her wrists. The outer is white and pink, open shoulder styled coat that can be wear on or off. The coat also have sleeveless mode or under chest mode. It has ribbon and heart brooch on her chest. She wears (almost) knee high boots paired with zettai ryoiki with ribbon on it. She side tail her left side hair with ribbon and little bell. She still wearing heart shaped hair clip, but the wings is way smaller. She also wear white big beret hat with pink accent on the edge. The pink color on her hair is much more than before and her ahoge is more taller but curled up. She got several new expressions like sad, crying, angry, terrified, gangimari, and yandere eyes. She also have cat girl mode that makes her having nekomimi and tail with ribbon.

She got a lot transformation on her V.4 costume. Her color pallet got more vibrant with black, shocking pink, white, aquamarine and light blue combinations. Her eyes become more sparkly and got a lot of heart accents. She got her height shrunk (from 170 to 150 cm), she have pink highlight on her right bang, her hair have more pink highlight than before, her arms slightly muscled and her thighs wider. Rather than facing forward, her V4 model is facing right while her left hand on her hip. She still wears her signature hairpin, her side tail got more higher and she wears a big white ribbon with bigger bells. Her outer is a white crop top with a hoodie and black cuffs. There is a brooch on her left chest that shaped like her hairpin but in pink color and blue ribbon with her signature laugh "huhi-huhi" written on it.

She also wears a black-aquamarine bracelet on her left hand. Her inner is a shocking pink sleeveless blouse with a black bow tie. She wears black skirt with a golden buttons accent on the left side and a shocking pink V cut on the right side. She wears shiny black pantyhose and white moccasin with aquamarine accent and ankle cuffs that can be detachable so you can see her bare feet and thighs. She said on her new concept stream that she will upgrade the model once she get new milestone each time so she's not reveal much about what the model can do aside from the bare feet, nekomimi, and bald mode. On 2 December 2018, she made a video teaser and making some VODs before her official debut on 13 January 2019. From time to time we learnt that she's not completely solo, she have some behind the scene team that help her.

On 20 September 2020, She announced that there would be another vtubers from her in-house team with premiered a Hikaru Nara cover song to introduce them and reveal how their appearances and voices like. Reynard Blanc The Fox Musician. Lily Ifeta The Fallen Angel with angelic voice, and Chloe Pawapua, a Wizard that couldn't do magic.

On 20 September 2021, she and fellow VTubers in her team announced that their management team would become an independent agency named Re:Memories.

2022[]

On 30 April, Re:memories's Twitter announced that Evelyn would be separating from Re:memories agency and becoming solo player without a management on the same day.[3] Before that, she also held a stream to announce it.[2] After that, she took off the vtuber name and rebrand herself as 'Hai Halo Epel!', a virtual content creator.

On 22 November, she gave a teaser that she would rebrand her look and her concept along with her 4th birthday and anniversary celebration.

On 10 December, she reveals her new appearance that looks more bold and fashionable with a unique re-debut stream. She's not immediately show it, but rather she gave a sneak peak with lighting shoot all over her shadowed body while she re-introduce herself with a scrap book presentation.

On December 17, she held a birthday party on KFC Kemang Raya, Jakarta. She invited people publicly through posts on her social media and made the event on stream. While people thought that she would show up on screen like she used to on local events, she shook people by coming to the venue directly. She used her "isekai mode", which is an animegao kigurumi cosplay and officially introduce kawepel for event and content purpose. She become the first one to do this in Indonesia's community.

2024[]

On 27 November, Epel reached 100,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

  • On 11 July 2021, Comifuro Twitter account announced that Evelyn, Reynard Blanc, Chloe Pawapua and Lily Ifeta would held a live concert in "Comifuro Virtual."[4]
  • On 7 August 2021, FJU's Twitter account announced that she and Reynard Blanc would appear in "Festival Jepang Unsoed 2021."[5][6]

  • Her fans are called as Epelables, a pun from available. She says that Epelables are people who willing to available for her and the other Epelables and she considers them not just as a fans but as friends/family.

Trivia[]

  • Evelyn enjoyed drawing ever since she was a child, although she isn't the best at it. She was often called naughty and often gets punishment from her teacher due to her delinquency. She used to draw and scribble on the whiteboard and on the teacher's desk in elementary school.
  • Although her debut video aired on January 13th 2019, Evelyn launched her teaser video and a few short videos since December 2nd 2018. Her YouTube channel was created since November 8th, 2018.
  • She was considering another nickname such Eve, Elyn, or Lylyn (but she immediately changed her mind. Lylyn is way to pronounce candle in Indonesian, she thought it sounded weird) on her debut video. Since she likes apples, she decided that she wanted to be called "Epel" with the same pronunciation.
  • Evelyn likes to goof around and make a cheap jokes every time she talks. She often posts memes on her personal Facebook account. Some people describe her as a shitposter, but due to the strong word and the real meaning of shitpost being negative, she refuses to be called that. She prefers to called "receh" or "garing" (lame but funny).
  • Receh is also terms for her donations. It means little amount of money. She often said on her stream that she actually feel bad when people give her too much donation because she won't make us broke. So she put very affordable amount for donation to everyone who want to support her. Her lowest membership price are very cheap too. She genuinely just want people enjoy her stream and having great time together.
  • She has husbando, Sasuke from Naruto franchise.
  • She likes character design of Alban Knox from Nijisanji EN.
  • She got voice notes from Indonesian Sasuke's voice actor. He saying about simping is fun, especially to Evelyn. Then Sasuke declare himself as Epelable. She's delighted and claimed that their relationship's already canon.
  • Evelyn isn't really shipped with anyone on vtuber community because she seems close and maintaining good relationship with everyone. Though at some times she claim many vtuber girls as hers and have quite close bro-sis bond with Jaret Fajrianto from Ghosty’s Comic (Indonesia’s comic strip) that makes people misjudged they’re actual couple.
  • Though she claims that she's not a fan of gaming and not really good at it (she proudly said that she's a noob), we could see she enjoy and very expressive when she do gaming and most of her videos are focusing on her playing games. She claimed that she never play it and always do blind playthrough.
  • She fall asleep on her morning stream quite often. And yes, she snoring.
  • She also a heavy sleeper that won't get up even the alarms rings loudly and she could sleep up to 20 hours.
  • Evelyn have enormous stamina. Her "hear and solve your problem" stream usually took 5 to 7 hours in total. She was doing karaoke livestream (take down due to copyrights) for 9 hours with 80 songs sang. She was doing karaoke stream with 100 songs sang too. Her free talk stream could reach 5 hours or more. And when she have special occasion like anniversary, she could stream for 24+ hours non stop. She said she just love streaming, talking and interacting with people in almost real time. Some of her endurance stream become unavailable because it reached the maximum time of Youtube’s archive.
  • Evelyn also actually strong, she claimed that she can bridal carry her friends, carry water gallon by herself, and easily broke things (ex. scrubbing brush). You can see the glimpse of her muscle here.
  • Evelyn easily gets along with people either they're fans or fellow VTubers.
  • Evelyn sometimes calls out someone named Pak Ipul. Not much is known about him, except for the fact that his full name is Saipulin and he loves throwing dad jokes and rhymes. His behavior seems to be more wild since he has a sharp tongue, loves to gamble and tends to steal fruits from other people's trees. It's still unknown what their actual connection is. Sometime he's appears on Evelyn's TikTok.
  • Evelyn's scream is described as very similar to a monkey's or dolphin's cry. Sometimes she does random high pitched screeches and kettle noises on stream or people describe it as squeezed mouse's noise.
  • She probably has alter ego too. And apparently she has Twitter.
  • In a video, she mentions that she accidentally drank vehicle oil when she was a little and drank pine wood scented floor cleaner because she was curious on what pine trees taste like.
  • She cannot eat any kind of vegetables. She said when she trying to eat veggies, she'll vomit right away.
  • She also can’t drink most of local mineral water because the taste. It makes her throat sore, or even hurt her tummy and the thirst stays. That's makes her only drink bottled beverages, something sweet, sodas or flavored milk. But on this stream, she discovered that she could drink Fiji, Sam Da Soo, Food Station, Perfect and Ron 88. Mostly pricey waters.
  • She often does cursed 'oplos' (mixing drink) on stream. She loves Kirantidaeng, which is a combination of Kiranti (Indonesian herbal drink for women's monthly cycle) mixed with Kratindaeng (Red Bull). Even though it is also part of the oplosan category. She also made Nutrisabeer (Nutrisari, orange flavored powder drink mixed with beer) and claimed that Coca Cola and water of fruit pickle is a good combination.
  • Sometimes she also do cursed oplos foods and post it on her Twitter. Like this, or this.
  • But actually, she’s good at cooking. She often post her cook on Twitter too even it seems not too appealing.
  • She made dessert for holoID Themed Meal Contest. A Kaela Kovalskia banana split waffle's themed.
  • She actually a drinker since a young age. She told about her parents that allowed her to drink since junior high school because everytime her auntie visit them, she usually brought boozes and turns out Evelyn have high tolerance of alcohol so she don't easily get drunk.
  • She sometimes show her weak side on social media or on stream. Sometimes she talk about her loneliness (she told that she living by herself a couple times on stream), her family (her mom already passed away), insecurities, worries, struggles etc. That makes her "human" and it feels like we could related to her.
  • Evelyn's role models are Kizuna Ai, Siro, and Shirakami Fubuki. Though she rarely talks about them nowadays.
  • Evelyn become a fan of David's GadgetIn, the host of Youtube channel about gadget and technology and wishing to do collab with him someday.
  • Evelyn easily loses her focus while doing live streaming, so she tends to stutter. She admits that she's not a multitasking person.
  • Evelyn is the type to cry easily. She cried a couple of times on her streams before, either because of sad stories during her consultation session, or when express her gratitude to her supporters and how she feels so lucky that she became Epel, and got the chance to meet great people and her Epelables.
  • Apparently she have two 'kids', Ciwis the white-orange cat and Cimot the solid black cat. She mentioned them a lot and sometime you could hear they chasing around or meowing on her stream.
  • Evelyn was hit by a truck and claimed she got isekai pass. This is the explanation why she could leap virtual world to do hand cam stream and pop out to "real world" as kawepel.
  • As the effect of her ability to leap through dimension, her height decreased from 170 cm to 150 cm (plus 10 cm ahoge) and her age change from eternal 18 to 21+.
  • She become the first vtuber in Indonesia who managed to showed herself with kigurumi form and held birthday party as a public event.
