fallenshadow, commonly referred to by her nickname Shondo, is an English-language VTuber. She is independently produced.

She streams herself drawing, editing, just chatting, doing live ASMR, or playing a variety of games.

Personality[]

Shadow is a shy, yandere girl who lives alone in her cabin in the forest. Her personality is that of a cute little sister, but she can be possessive and pushy. She likes ribbons, chocolate, and dolls, as well as pretty girls, cute things, and all things dark and spooky. Chocolate is her favorite food. She also likes drawing, baking, writing and storytelling.

Appearance[]

Shadow is a petite girl with short, purple hair that is long in front, decorated with a ribbon. She has pink eyes. She wears a black dress with many ribbons, including a darker shade around her neck, and a white ruffle and dark ribbon on either wrist. She accessorizes with a chocolate styled bag.

She has a ribbon choker and ribbon that goes down her left arm and down her right leg, contrasted with a grey thigh high sock, and black shoes. She can also be seen wearing a cloak with a hoodie that is also adorned with a ribbon.

Mascot and fans[]

Fallenshadow's fans are collectively called "fallen" and are represented on stream with an avatar called (YOU) that is a black silhouette in the shape of a humanoid.

While there is the no official design, the avatar has picked up common identifying traits. It is typically depicted with a horned helmet that is associated with romanticized imaginings of Vikings. The avatar also frequently has a simple expression drawn in white and the word (YOU) written on the chest or other part of the body. Often the avatar wears a suit and tie or no clothing at all.

The parentheses in (YOU) are a part of the avatar's name. The effect of the rules of grammar on the name (YOU) are frequently debated with no clear answer; for instance, whether (YOUR) or (YOU)'s is the proper possessive form.

History[]

Background[]

On 8 August 2016 she started as an ASMR channel on YouTube, where she continues to upload ASMR videos now.

2021[]

On 27 March she began streaming on Twitch as a PNGTuber.

On 9 April, she gained affiliate status on Twitch.

On 1 June, she revealed her Live2D model drawn by Rucaco.

On 4 June, she reached 10,000 followers on Twitch.

On 23 July, she debuted her original self-drawn Live2D model in a birthday stream.[2]

On 6 August, she gained partner status on Twitch.

On 4 December, she had her official Live2D debut on Twitch, featuring a new model.[1]

2022[]

On 4 September, she debuted her updated 1.5 model at the start of a subathon.

On 7 September, she reached 50,000 followers on Twitch.

On 20 November, she released her original song Ribbon Cage. The song composed by Tokyo Terrace with Japanese lyrics by Akira Okumura.

2023[]

On 4 March, she re-debuted with three new outfits alongside a new lore video.

On 8 July, she debuted her first 3D model (Chibi Shadow) by Blep.

On 30 August, she reached 100,000 followers on Twitch.

On 29 December, she debuted her full-size 3D model by Shonzo.[3]

2024[]

On 6 April, she announced her temporary hiatus for health-related reasons.[4]

On 17 June, her ASMR YouTube channel reached 200,000 subscribers.

On 22 June, her "fallenshadowtwitch" YouTube channel reached 50,000 subscribers.

On 13 July, she returned to streaming with an elaborate lore reveal event on Twitch. The stream reached 12,035 viewers at peak, and featured an animated video written, drawn and narrated by Shondo herself. The stream featured a new bunny-eared pajama-wearing Live2D model, her third outfit. It was accompanied by the release of merchandise: a voice pack, an acrylic standee, a dakimakura cover, and a fumo-style plush.[5]

On 23 July, her birthday stream was cancelled at the last minute after Twitch issued a 7-day ban.[6][7][8]

On 14 September, she was banned again from Twitch for 30 days, following a stream where she drank a moderate amount of alcohol.[9][10] She declared the event "No Shondo September." The ban was overturned 1 day and 16 hours later.[11]

After 24 November, she went on hiatus to personally handle merch shipments. She returned on 18 December.

On 27 November she was nominated for Best RP/ASMR VTuber and her fanbase was nominated Most Dedicated Fanbase at the 2024 VTuber Awards.

2025[]

On 24 January, she reached 200,000 followers on Twitch.[12]

On 12 March, she sadly reported that her mother had passed away. Shondo took a hiatus from streaming.[13]

On 18 April, she returned to streaming.

Lore[]

  • Shadow was lonely, formless creature who lived in a world devoid of hope. So it slept, going millennia without conscious thought, awoken only by pangs of hunger. It took on the appearance of the creatures whose life force it consumed to sustain itself, returning to the void until its body began to decay, and repeating the process.[19]
  • Once, the creature awoke from a long slumber to discover an intriguing new species of beautiful creatures had arisen: humans. They feared and shunned the creature in all her forms, so she watched them from afar and learned their culture. Their presence filled her with warmth, a feeling for which she discovered a name: LOVE.[19]
  • The humans continued to reject the creature, but this only made her love stronger. She took the body of a girl with a loving family and friends, learning a new feeling: HAPPINESS.[19]
  • However, it still needed to feed to maintain its form, and once again the creature was cast out by humans who feared it. Over time, people became less fearful of supernatural beings, and the creature was able to take up a lonely residence at the edge of human society.[19]
  • As she lived as an impostor among humans, the creature struggled to understand the humans' destructive tendencies toward each other and nature, and her hatred for humanity grew. As humanity grew into industrial age and congregated in cities, she used the opportunity feed on the most wretched of humans, assuming an innocent form to lure victims. The creature also found herself unworthy of life, but was unable to end her existence.[20]
  • Once, she met a girl who begged her to save her sister, who was dying of a stab wound, offering herself in exchange. The creature agreed, but only if the girl could gaze upon the creature's true form without screaming, something which had never happened before. The girl was terrified, but kept quiet for her sister. The creature consumed the girl, who became part of the creature. She saved the sister as promised, but the girl's act of kindness left the creature confused and changed.[20]
  • Alone and confused, the creature ran for days, nearly dying in the woods. She awoke by a fireplace, in a woodland cabin wrapped in a blanket, with a mysterious shadow person in the corner of the room. The shadow person feared the creature, but they soon came to realize that they were alike, and became friends, living together in the cabin. She learned to forgive herself for what she was born to be.[21]
  • Because of her location in the forest, creatures also living there can be heard in the background of her streams.
  • Her wrists and neck are always covered. Shondo takes this rule seriously in fanart. Canonically, she is entirely flat-chested.[22]

  • Shadow is affected by schizoaffective disorder and occasionally talks about her experiences coping with it. She asks her followers to let herself be the one to bring it up.

  • Her favorite games include Undertale, and most recently Omori, which she first played through on her stream. She also enjoys The Sims 2 and 3, Stardew Valley, Clannad, Ib, SOMA, and Corpse Party. She likes cute games, spooky games, and RPG Maker games.[1]

She also wants to get better at video games, singing, cooking, ASMR, voice acting, moving, and everything; and to become The Brightest Shadow.

  • Before she debuted her official Live2D model, she drew and rigged her own temporary model. She also made a Halloween outfit of herself as a witch.
  • She appears to be left-handed.[23]
  • She is the VTuber "mama" of Tybernation, who provides music for her lore videos.
  • Her nickname, Shondo, comes from pronouncing Shadow in a funny way.[24]
  • She claims to have a shoe size of 2 (UK) and a ring size of H (UK).
  • In her 3D chibi model debut, she claimed to weigh 2,000,000 kilograms.[25]
  • She voice acts a male persona, "Barry," an overweight 40 year old man from Birmingham, England. He works at a construction site, has a wife (who he hates) and a son, and loves soccer. A running joke is that Barry is her real identity and Shondo is just using a voice changer to sound like a girl. This isn't true, though, it's just voice acting.[26][27]
