History[]

Background[]

Gosegu first applied to audition for the ISEGYE IDOL Project by Streamer Woowakgood on 9 July 2021. Her application post called herself "Seccubus" (a mix of sexy and Succubus), listed her character information, and showcased videos of her singing and swearing(?). She also wrote "please edit me badly on YouTube for clickbait, it'll do good...", which shows that her concept/character was purposely made to be extreme to stand out. Due to being a casual YouTube viewer of Woowakgood (and not Twitch), she has never been on Woowakgood's previous videos (Woowakgood's Twitch viewers/Fan Cafe users have an advantage in streamsniping or applying for his content).

Before she applied, she asked one of her friend to give her a name recommendation. Her friend said "Goyangiga Sesangeul Guhanda", meaning "Cats Save the World". She decided to go with Gosegu instead of Chika, which was her original name idea.

2021[]

On 15 July, her application was accepted, and her name was listed to participate in the audition process on the third day of the first round.[1]

On 17 July, she made her first appearance on the first round of auditioning done in VRChat. With her hyper tension, she gave her introduction, sang two songs (along with a recorder performance), and a short interview. With all three judges agreeing to give her a pass, she would pass the first round of the audition. We later learn from her that she drank alcohol prior to the round, which explains her excessive behavior.

On 18 July, she made the list of names that passed the first round.[2] She was now officially allowed to stream.

On 27 July, she turned on her Twitch stream for the first time.

On 31 July, she made the list of names that passed the second round.[3]

  • The Segyundan character was originally a blue bacteria with long legs, but due to Gosegu's complaints, changed to a cat.
  • Out of the six members, Segyundan have the least consensus when it comes to character design and name.

Relationships[]

  • ISEGYE IDOL (Has a lot of chemistry with other ISEDOL members)
  • Woowakgood (Shows highly noticeable loyalty towards him, constantly talking about how much she respects him)
  • GOMEM (Can be seen typing in Gosegu's chat; collabs during Waktaverse collaboration streams)

Trivia[]

Character Information[]

  • One of the only members with no official birthday (the other member being Ine), due to her not wanting to reveal it. Her unofficial birthdays include: 31 December, 99 Ninety-ninth month, and more.
  • The only member with no real height given, due to her not wanting to reveal it. She claims she is 300 meters as an alternate answer. She did confirm that she was taller than 160 centimeters.
  • Although her name means "Cats Save the World", she prefers dogs over cats.
  • Her MBTI is ENTP, but her other results include ENTJ and INTP.
  • She has the shortest avatar out of the ISEDOL members.

Nicknames[]

  • BJ Gompangi (BJ 곰팡이): Nickname given to Gosegu during her Christmas stream in 2021, where she pretended to be a DJ/Streamer- putting on Korean songs while talking in a lower, sassy tone. Reference to a trend in Afreeca TV (Korean streaming website) where female streamers would turn on K-pop music while communicating with chatters, and nothing else.
  • Nunagu (눈나구): Nickname given to Gosegu when she puts on a lower tone of voice. Nuna means older sister in Korean.
  • Gogaltong (고갈통): Nickname given to Gosegu when she does something stupid. Go (Gosegu) + Galtong (Daegaltong; empty-headed).
  • Streaming Genius (방송천재): Nickname given to Gosegu by Woowakgood. Called her a 'streaming genius,' due to her bursting onto the scene with no prior streaming experience. In fact, she is the only ISEGYE IDOL member with no prior streaming/YouTube experience, as Jingburger, Lilpa, Jururu all streamed on Twitch before, while Ine and Viichan had their YouTube channels uploading music.
  • Soegusoegu (쇠구쇠구): Nickname given to Gosegu due to her bad aim. Nickname originates when Gosegu finished her Valorant placement and placed in Iron (Soe = iron).
  • Goose (구스): Goose: a nickname called by a foreign viewer. It seems to have settled down because "Gosegu" is hard to pronounce.
  • Korean kusogaki (코리안 쿠소가키): mentioned as Gosegu's nickname during a collaboration broadcast with Takanashi Kiara on Nov. 20, 2024
  • Cat (고양이): The nickname was given because both the nickname and the personality are similar to cats.

Memes[]

  • KING~A! (킹~아!): Originally Woowakgood's meme; means "nice!" Became one of her memes as well due to her memorable pronounciation.
  • ITS MINE~ (NaeGgeuda~;내끄다~): Spoken by Gosegu during a Minecraft collab stream as she tried to pick up items on the ground. Used as her donation sound.
  • Crazy Biatch(?) (Muchillyun;무7련): Spoken by Gosegu as a joke after witnessing Jururu's Twitch clip of her faking her cry.
  • EEEEEEEEK(?) (이이이이이익): Spoken by Gosegu when she rages or uses force.

Other[]

  • Gosegu's "Fan Service" Cover on YouTube is the most viewed cover song by an ISEGYE IDOL member. The song got so popular that it was constantly sent to Korean streamers who were doing media share, and would later be dubbed "K-Twitch National Anthem."
  • Gosegu's IQ result was 107 (online website quiz).
  • Shares the same avatar with Filian; Gosegu is blue, while Filian is purple.
  • Unlike other ISEGYE IDOL members and many VTubers, the name "Gosegu" sounds like an ordinary Korean name, consisted of surname "Go" followed by a given name "Segu", which makes her called "Segu" in friendly way. Middle-aged and older citizens find the name rather masculine.[10]
  • In a Waktaverse VRChat map, there is a Gosegu's statue that is made to hit and displays score.[11]
