Itone Lloyd (絲音ロイド) was a male Japanese-English-language Virtual YouTuber who focused on singing with the occasional variety streams. He was also one half of the musical duo Grīmweiβ with Hinakawa Airö.

He is half-Japanese, half-Hong Kong,[5] but was born in Australia.[6] He can fluently speak in both Japanese and English.

Personality[]

Lloyd is regarded as a chill and easy-going person, however, he can get tilted during competitive games, and even admits to being a toxic gamer at times. He is also prone to swearing in his sentences, no matter the situation.

Background[]

Lloyd's channel was created on 5 August, 2014. The earliest public video uploaded onto his channel is a cover of Charles by balloon, uploaded on 28 August, 2019, and was just known as Lloyd (ロイド).[7] However, it wasn't until 23 January, 2020, that he revealed his VTuber model on Twitter[8] and eventually, on 4 February, 2020, that he would make his VTuber debut.

On 3 June, his birthday, he revealed his first alternate costume[9] as well as released his first original song "Namidasou Marionette", produced by †Fanatic.

2022[]

Retirement[]

On 21 May, he announced his retirement, mentioning that he "found something [he wants] to do". In the retirement announcement, he states that on 3 June, the archives on his channel and the first half of his covers will be deleted, and his Twitter account will be locked.[10]

Trivia[]

  • The "絲" in his family name means "thread", as in the thread of a doll, and "音" means "sound", and comes from the fact that he likes to sing. The name "ロイド" comes from his favorite game.[11]
  • He owns a cat.[12] After his neighbours abandoned the cat, he felt bad, so he adopted it.[13]
    • Lloyd however, is allergic to cats.[13]
  • He got into Vocaloid in 2010, when he was in Year 4. The first song he listened to was magnet. He heard it when he was at an anime convention and he saw his dad's friends, who were cosplayers, singing the song. He liked the song and when he showed it to his friends, they called him weird.[14]
  • He hasn't been given a Christmas gift since he was 8.[15]
  • Lloyd's friend helps him moderate his bilibili account since Lloyd can't read Chinese.[16]
