Josuiji Shinri (定水寺シンリ) is a male English Virtual YouTuber endorsed by hololive's branch HOLOSTARS English. He is a member of "TEMPUS" joining the group in January 2023 alongside Gavis Bettel, Machina X Flayon and Banzoin Hakka.

This one arrow shall be payback for 'Dragon Gate's Leap.'
A ronin who is part of Adventurer's Guild TEMPUS.
Has the appearance of a wandering samurai, but was widely renowned as a master of the longbow.
So famed was his prowess, they would say he could use anything as an arrow and yet never fail to hit his mark.
He went into isolation for a while, lamenting the futility of war,
but took up his bow and arrow once again after witnessing the young men fighting a pack of Corruption Beasts.
Personality[]
Shinri is a warm, fatherly person. He often acts as Tempus' voice of reason and is considered by his guildmates as one of the most reliable members of the group.
He's very interested in horror games, specially indie ones, and in discovering their lore. Whenever he plays horror games, he likes to admire the monsters and sometimes flirt with them, to the bewilderment of his guildmates. He doesn't get scared by horror games and considers them a source of comfort, although he sometimes can get startled and let out loud gasps.
His usual composure can be easily broken by funny moments, in which case Shinri unleashes a powerful wheeze.

He has black hair pulled back into a high ponytail with light blue eyes. He has an orange tattoo on his chest.

Background[]
Shinri applied multiple times to HOLOSTARS before being selected. He initially tried to script his audition video, but felt this approach lacked authenticity.[1]
On 2 January 2023, the hololive production English Twitter account teased an announcement for TEMPUS along with a very short video.[2]
On 4 January 2023, hololive production English Twitter account announced that four new members would be joining TEMPUS with an introductory video including their names, lore and social media accounts.[3] Shinri made his first tweet on this date and a small teaser video was uploaded on his YouTube channel. His Twitter account was created in October 2022 and his YouTube channel was created on 19 October 2022.[4][5]
On 8 January 2023 (JST), Shinri debuted on YouTube. He also uploaded his first cover of the song "Daddy Daddy Do."[6]
2023[]
On 5 February, Shinri opened his channel's membership feature.
On 21 May, he reached 100,000 YouTube subscribers.[7]
2024[]
On 16 May, Shinri debuted his second costume.[8]
On 27 May, hololive's Twitter account announced that Shinri along with Bettel, Flayon, and Hakka would get their 3D models.[9]
On 15 June, Shinri debuted his 3D model.[10]
On 16 September, Shinri announced an indefinite hiatus after the passing of his pet.[11] He returned on 26 September.

- In Japanese, Josuiji Shinri writes his name 「定水寺シンリ」.
- 「定水寺」, jousuiji, is written with the kanji meaning "certainty," "water," and "temple." The name of his gen-mate Banzoin also includes the meaning "temple." There is also a historic site in the city of Uki, Kumamoto by this name, although it is instead written with the kanji 「浄水寺跡」, meaning "purified water temple."
- "Shinri" is written in katakana, often used to write foreign names. In Japanese, "shinri" means "truth" or "state of mind."
