KUNI is a male English and Tagalog-speaking Virtual YouTuber who debuted on YouTube in July 2024. His content features a mix of video game streams, illustrations, animations, and singing, all of which showcase his creative talents and cheerful personality.
KUNI is a farmer from a distant world who came to Earth after encountering the Voyager Golden Record. The challenges of space travel have caused major memory loss, leaving him with only fragments of his past. On Earth, he established The Radish Farmstead, a farm reminiscent of his home. He believes that expanding his new farm will help him regain his memories and abilities, enabling him to further explore the planet.

KUNI has a slightly chubby yet muscular build, giving him a strong but approachable appearance. He has short, somewhat messy black hair, a stubble, and wears large rectangular glasses. His outfit consists of a white collared shirt underneath green overalls that feature a cute turnip icon on the front pocket, complementing his farmer aesthetic. His large gloves and sturdy boots add to the practical, hardworking farmer look, while his soft expression and round features make him look welcoming.

KUNI is cheerful, friendly and always full of energy, known for his warm interactions with the audience, where he makes sure to mention everyone's name on chat. Though seen as a kind older brother, he's a little gullible and sometimes pranked on his streams. He loves saying "Bello" (inspired by Minions) and "Yippie" when excited. Despite his introverted nature and struggles with public speaking, often stuttering when excited or panicky, VTubing has helped him connect with others and take on fun projects. He has a calmingly sweet yet strong voice, though he yells a lot when excited. While he gives off a cozy vibe, KUNI enjoys fast-paced action games. He always shouts out "live gang" and "vod gang" at the start of his streams, and then ending with his heartfelt "Love you guys! Don’t forget to smile!"

KUNI's initial design
KUNI first launched his X (formerly Twitter) account in October 2021, focusing on illustrations and building a following. One of his notable commercial works was for an MMORPG, Ragnarok Online, where he contributed art assets to an in-game event: Talk Like a Pirate Day: The Gilded Galapagos. In January 2023 KUNI took a new step and created a character design of himself, marking the start of his transition into the VTuber world and laying the foundation for his debut.

On January 24, 2024, KUNI released a song cover of ぽかぽかの星 (Poka Poka Planet) by はるまきごはん (Harumakigohan), with a fully animated video created by KUNI himself. While following the original format, he added unique backgrounds and scenes that reflected important elements of his character's lore.
KUNI's finalized design
KUNI next revealed his Live2D model in February 2024, which gained attention on Twitter for its cute and unique design. He continued growing his fanbase by sharing singing clips, including an open duet with fellow VTuber Apollo Kepler, and participating in Singing March 2024. On July 14, 2024, KUNI announced his official debut, marking a major milestone in his journey.

On July 21, 2024, KUNI debuted as a VTuber on YouTube with a short cover of はじめまして地球人さん (Nice To Meet You, Earthling!) by PinocchioP. Along with the usual introductions, he featured a special karaoke segment. His debut gained attention for its unique style, after five months of preparation where KUNI impressively handled everything, including the Live2D art and rigging, and streaming assets.

On July 27, 2024, just 6 days after the debut, KUNI reached 10,000 subscribers, marking an impressive start. On August 1, 2024, 11 days after the debut, KUNI has officially become a YouTuber Partner.
KUNI's song cover for Summer 2024: 파도 (Wave)
KUNI began his summer activities in August 2024 with a fresh 1.1 Live 2D model in a stylish summer outfit. He connected with his community through game streams and art sessions. While his summer concert was canceled due to health issues, KUNI still released a song cover, Wave (2024) by Son Dong-Pyo, as part of the planned premiere.
In early October 2024, KUNI announced a 1.2 livestream to celebrate Halloween. The event will include various activities, such as karaoke, a new model reveal, video game and art sessions, a fanart showcase, a mukbang portion, and a premiere of a brand new song cover. A trailer will be released soon, detailing the confirmed date for the festive celebration.

Turnip
KUNI's fans are called Turnips, a name inspired by the beloved turnip-selling mechanic in Animal Crossing, representing both the playful and wholesome spirit of the community. Turnip's appearance features a small, round cream-colored body with narrow, slightly oval eyes, soft blushing cheeks, and three large green leaves sprouting from its head.

KUNI regularly plants crops, and during his debut lore, he is seen carrying normal, inanimate Turnips. However, an alive Turnip mysteriously sprouted from the ground, suggesting that KUNI may possess the ability to plant living plants. Unfortunately, due to memory loss, KUNI remains unaware of this potential power.
KUNI visiting the Earth
KUNI being a visitor to Earth implies that he's an alien.
It is currently unknown if there are other beings like KUNI on his home planet. So far, there have only been towering radishes and other inanimate Turnips.
KUNI refers to his audience as "Turnips," suggesting that Earth's people are not his intended audience which confirms that this is not a reversed isekai story.
The distance between KUNI's home planet and Earth is unknown, leaving the timeline unclear.
However, if we consider the speed of the Voyager spacecraft, it would take over 70,000 years to reach the nearest star system. Whether KUNI resides in that system or another, the distance involved is still astronomically vast.
Despite the debut song title, "Nice to Meet You, Earthling!" no humans appeared in the video. It's still unconfirmed if humans actually exist.

One of his song covers, Poka Poka Planet, takes place after his visit to Earth in Nice to Meet You, Earthling! Like the debut video, no humans are shown either, leading to the theory that KUNI and the Turnips might possbily be the only inhabitants in the area. This could be supported by the lyric, "La La La, if we sing together, will the melodies reach everyone?"

In his next song cover, Wave, KUNI is seen to be possibly still looking for humans, while enjoying his summer vacation. At the end of the video, a message in a bottle appears, possibly hinting at future lore developments.

KUNI enjoys incorporating several song covers, using them as a creative way to narrate his lore story and connect with his audience through music.
There has been some confusion between the terms "Turnips" and "Radish." Both are among the various crops planted in The Radish Farmstead. KUNI uses "Radish" for his farm simply because it’s his favorite vegetable. The name "Turnip" for his fans was chosen because it was the first plant he brought to life.
KUNI is often described as having the gentle giant character trope.
KUNI once estimated his height is 17 potatoes tall due to a lack of measuring tools, but a doodle with friends later revealed he’s actually 160 cm tall (5'3"), suggesting the potatoes he used were unusually large, likely from his home planet.
KUNI's VTubing career is only part-time, as he juggles it with freelancing and other duties. But despite all the limited time, he and his Turnip community take pride in the quality of his projects, especially the song covers.
