Kaede-1 is an independent English-language VTuber. She began creating content November of 2024 but has not yet officially debuted.
She regularly uploads YouTube videos playing Counter-Strike and other first person shooter games, and occasionally streams horror games on Twitch. Her videos are edited in the style of the "golden age" of YouTube and are reminiscent of creators such as KYR SP33DY, Uberhaxornova, FaZe Jev, and Senzawa, all of which she has stated as having the biggest influence on her desire to create content.[1]
Personality[]
Kaede is a self described natural kuudere, cool-dere, or sunao kuuru, meaning she does not outwardly express emotions as most people do, often seeming cold, quiet, or emotionless. Despite her outward appearance and demeanor, she does verbally describe emotions that she feels. Her monotone voice and stoic demeanor often sounds androgynous and causes confusion to those not familiar with her, but she is notably more lively, feminine, and expressive when she talks to her friends, creating a sense of "gap moe."
Kaede's sense of humor consists of regularly referencing current and past memes, creating esoteric and sometimes edgy jokes with her friends, and utilizing call-back humor regularly with a deadpan delivery, often catching people off guard with her knowledge of internet deep cuts. When playing multiplayer games with toxic players, Kaede stays monotone and usually responds with calm de-escalation, or sarcasm. Although she rarely swears, Kay does not shy away from making adult, edgy, explicit, or suggestive jokes, and her twitch channel is labelled as an adult only stream for this reason. She does occasionally use Russian swear words and expletives in place of English swears when talking to teammates and opponents to subvert auto-moderation on Youtube, although she is not able to fluently speak Russian.
Although mainly playing competitive first person shooter games on her streams and in her videos, her emotionless behavior shows best when playing horror games, where she never seems to get frightened and never reacts to jump scares, often mocking scary scenes.
Appearance[]
Kaede has one 3D model which has different color variations. Her main model consists of blue eyes, long black hair that reaches past her waist, tied in a messy ponytail, and wears a white and blue sera fuku school uniform with black "Converse" style sneakers. Her other popular variation, being coined her "Casual Outfit" includes a baggy red hoodie and black volley ball shorts with red and black basketball sneakers. In addition to the outfit, her eye color is changed to red and her hair is a deeper black, losing the navy highlights present in her normal model. She has stated her main inspiration for her model is one of her favorite anime characters, Black Rock Shooter.

Kaede-1 is a homunculus specimen created in a secret, privately owned laboratory focused on creating a master race of humans. Each specimen was created to excel in a specific field in order to pass down those genes to further generations, resulting in a human subtype which possesses nothing but perfection.
Being the first specimen, she was given the subtitle "1", and her primary purpose is simple. Become the greatest E-Sports player of all time. She was created and trained to have faster reflexes, better game sense, and superior tactical knowledge in order to destroy any and all who stand before her.
However, she has none of those skills, and is among the worst players in the lab scientist's game of choice, Counter-Strike. After going over the data again and again, the scientists deduced that the cause for Kaede's mediocrity is from distracting emotional responses. So the scientists performed multiple lobotomies on Kaede, making it to where she can never show emotion again, and thus excel in the E-Sports field.
In spite of the best efforts of the lead scientist, they only suppressed the ability for Kaede to show emotion, they did not rid her of emotion entirely, so it had little to no effect on her gaming ability. The lead scientist chose to abandon the Kaede-1 project and started work on Kaede-2 immediately, locking Kaede-1 away in her room indefinitely. The lab assistant took pity on Kaede, and knew that even though she wasn't the best gamer to ever live, she still loved playing games. So he snuck in his own PC from home, and started her a twitch account so she wouldn't be alone all day. He showed her games that could take her to distant lands, and games that show her deeper meanings, hoping that one day she may learn to show emotion again. The lab assistant gave her a new purpose, and she was happy for the first time in her life, although she couldn't show it.
