Kagami Hayato (加賀美ハヤト) is a male Japanese Virtual YouTuber affiliated with NIJISANJI. He debuted along with Yorumi Rena and Hakase Fuyuki, forming a trio known as "SMC-gumi" (SMC組).
Introduction Video[]
Profile[]
The president of the toy company "Kagami Industrial (加賀美インダストリアル)," he debuted as a virtual liver to promote his company's products.[1]
Personality[]
As CEO of a toy company, Kagami maintains a youthful spirit despite the demands of the adult working world. However, due to the nature of his job, he maintains respectful language and etiquette at all times when addressing his viewers. During collaborations, Kagami usually provides commentary or acts as the straight man to others' antics. His solo streams often have a calm, relaxing atmosphere punctuated by his cheerful laughter and fun, quick-witted remarks.
However, Kagami also possesses a competitive spirit and hates to lose. He shows a child-like wonder and excitement when faced with toys and games that he has a strong interest in (e.g., mecha and other robots, big animals, insects, strong enemies, trading card games, etc.).
Kagami's intensity comes out when he passionately performs on stage. He combines his powerful singing voice with distinctive harsh vocals (e.g., growls, screams, pig squeal). As a fan of heavy rock and metal, he often sings songs that showcase these abilities. He is also known to exhibit his "bad habit" of high kicking when singing on stage.
Appearance[]
He has short, light brown hair and matching eyes and wears an office worker suit without a tie and a bronze crown shaped lapel pin.
Streaming Style[]
Start Time: After 22:00 to 24:00 (JST). He very rarely streams during the day. The schedule and content for each stream is usually announced on his Twitter account at around 19:00 (JST).
Frequency: Around 4 or 5 days a week.
Duration: Usually at least 3 hours, but it tends to go on longer depending on the game (e.g., games published by From Software, Yakuza Series games, Katamari Damacy, etc.) or when the following day is a holiday.
Thumbnails: His streams often feature very distinct thumbnails with free or paid stock photos. While some are fairly straightforward interpretations of their respective games, for others it would be hard to determine the games that the thumbnails are for without seeing the game logo or reading the title.
Greeting: He starts every stream with a polite "Good evening, everyone. This is NIJISANJI-affiliated Virtual Liver and Kagami Industrial Representative Director, Kagami Hayato."
Sign off: He ends every stream by thanking his audience and wishing everyone a good night, followed by a wink. He does this in the hopes that by increasing the supply of his winks, it would cheapen its value.
Super Chat: Whenever he has time at the end of a stream, he makes sure to thank each and every Super Chat sender by name. Because of the sheer volume of Super Chats he gets, he has learned to do this at a very rapid pace. Unread Super Chats may carry over to the following stream/s or to a dedicated Super Chat reading stream.
History[]
Debut[]
Kagami made his first introductory tweet on 3 July 2019 and his debut stream on 6 July 2019. At the end of his debut introduction, he showed the short version of his original song "WITHIN". Three days after that, he premiered the short version as an MV.

Notable Gaming Streams[]
Although Kagami has a varied taste in games and could play Bloodborne one night then Animal Crossing the next, he often gravitates towards playing particular titles. Featured below are some notable examples of games that he is often seen playing or has spent a significant amount of time playing.
- From Software Games. Kagami tends to play with a "Muscle Brain" style, often prioritizing high damage and defense.
- Dark Souls Series. Kagami played Dark Souls for the first time in this order: "Remastered" [playlist], "Dark Souls 3" [playlist], and "Dark Souls 2" [playlist]. Even though he himself admitted that he was not particularly good at the game, he enjoyed himself as he kept learning while playing. No matter how many times he was beaten down by strong enemies, he never lost heart and kept trying again while laughing lightly. He played all games to completion.
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. [playlist] After developing "From Software Brain," Kagami proceeded to challenge Sekiro. As with Dark Souls, he quickly became addicted and would even play off-stream.
- Bloodborne. [playlist] Kagami wanted to play Bloodborne right before Elden Ring was released. At first, he was confused by Bloodborne's difference from the Dark Souls series, but he quickly got used to it. He also got attached to the weapon Stake Driver, which has a short reach but a powerful attack output. On 24 December 2021 he played more than 9.5 hours, making that his longest stream yet.
- Elden Ring. Kagami recently bought a PS5 and was planning to start playing Elden Ring in March 2022, but had to delay until late April 2022.
- Trading Card Games. Kagami loves playing different card games digitally and physically. He is known to play the following trading card games: Yu-Gi-Oh, Duel Masters, Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, and Digimon. He often has ridiculously good luck when opening booster packs. He plays with both fellow livers and listeners, and would occasionally build unusual decks to challenge himself.
- Yu-Gi-Oh. A big fan of the physical card game since childhood, Kagami has streamed himself playing different digital versions of the game ("Legacy of the Duelist" [ playlist ], "Master Duel" [playlist]). In Master Duel, he would duel listeners under certain card restrictions (e.g., Normal cards only). He was able to reach Platinum 1 with a Drytron deck. He also created a dedicated Discord server so NIJISANJI livers from all branches can more easily play Master Duel together. He dubbed this the NIJISANJI Battle City, after the tournament that Yu-Gi-Oh's Seto Kaiba held. Kagami has also opened Yu-Gi-Oh oripa lucky bags on stream: with Yorumi Rena (500,000 yen lucky bag); with Yorumi and Hanabatake Chaika (part 1, 2).
- Duel Masters. [playlist] Because he plays the physical version of the card game, he quickly started playing the digital version, "Duel Masters Play's" (DMPS), upon release. He often purchases booster packs worth 30,000 yen or more and opens them on stream with unusually good luck. He frequently appears as a guest or commentator in DMPS's official YouTube channel. He was involved in both NIJISANJI x DMPS collaboration events and was featured in in-game cards, skins, and accessories during the 2nd collaboration. In addition, Kagami recorded a new original song titled "Kagiribi" that featured in the game as duel BGM (excerpt here). A full version will be released on his channel at a later date.
- Magic the Gathering. Apart from playing the digital version of the game, "MTG Arena" (MTGA), he also plays the physical card game and occasionally shows his purchases on stream or on his Twitter. He occasionally streams sponsored MTGA invitational early access events (MTGM21, Zandikar's Dawn, Cardheim) along with Yashiro Kizuku and Hanabatake Chaika. These three livers have also opened MTG oripa lucky bags on stream (1 million yen lucky bag with Yashiro, 1.8 million yen with Yashiro and Chaika). Kagami also once did an ASMR stream while opening booster packs.
- Yakuza Series Games. Kagami has played the following Yakuza games in order: "Kiwami" [playlist], "0" [playlist], "Kiwami 2" [playlist], "Yakuza: Like a Dragon" [playlist].. He tends to stream these games for a long time, often exceeding 6 hours. He would also often become absorbed in mini-games. He has grown particularly fond of the character Majima Goro. He is currently playing the spin-off game, "Judgment: Remastered".
- Pokémon Series Games. Kagami has experience playing the following Pokémon games: Red/Green, Gold/Silver, Sword/Shield [playlist], Shining Pearl [playlist], Arceus [playlist]. Starting with Pokémon Sword, he developed a habit of naming his pokémon after cards, Gundam, manga characters (particularly from Baki), and characters from games that he has played.
- Horror Games. Kagami has a very strong tolerance for horror games. He rarely ever screams or gets jump-scared and instead maintains a calm, cheerful demeanor throughout. He has played the Resident Evil 7: Biohazard [playlist] and Resident Evil Village [playlist], Little Nightmares and its DLC [playlist] as well as the sequel [playlist] and various games from Chilla's Art.
- Katamari Series. Kagami has played "Katamari Damacy REROLL" [playlist] and "We Love Katamari" [playlist]. Always up for a challenge, he would often aim to exceed the requirements for passing any given stage by trying different routes in search of more efficient ones. He has done multiple endurance streams. Katamari, specifically its bear and cow stages, is notable for frustrating him enough to drink alcohol just to get through the game on three different occasions.
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons. [playlist] Kagami has a distinct style of playing this game. After aptly calling his island "Gatling Island," he progressively outfitted it for battle by fortifying it with stone walls and canons, designing a walled castle to serve as his home, building a "Dark Souls-like" maze at the entrance to his island, and specifically recruiting villagers that "look strong." During 6 and a half hour attempt to raise his island rating, he declared Isabelle an enemy and dubbed her the "Flower Demon." He has crafted other areas of his island that reflect his different interests (such as building a seedy arcade] and a tokusatsu set). He enjoys collecting and catching bugs. Kagami also played the DLC Animal Crossing: Happy Home Paradise, where he fulfilled clients' requests in very unusual and unexpected ways that he then used to craft interconnected narratives involving the villagers.
- Boku no Natsuyasumi 2: Umi no Bouken-hen. [playlist] This game literally translates to "My Summer Vacation 2: Sea Adventure Chapter" and involves playing as a young boy who's spending his summer vacation in a Japanese coastal town. Because of its peaceful and nostalgic gameplay, Kagami would sometimes share little snippets and trivia about his childhood. The game also features collecting and bug battles—things that Kagami passionately latched on to.
- Hitman Series. Kagami has played the first game [playlist] and its sequel [playlist].
