Personality[]

Kamito is a shy otaku, who can be a bit awkward upon meeting new people. However, once he warms up to someone, he becomes very playful and will constantly joke around with them. While he often plays the role of the tsukkomi with many of the people he collaborates with, he is also known to be quite the boke at times as well.

He has short, two-toned black and white hair with a curled black ahoge and eyes with light blue irises. He wears a white jacket with black and light blue accents and the inner part of the back of the neck area a starry black hood with white pants and a ribbed black sweater.

Background[]

Kamito created his YouTube channel on 25 July 2017. His Twitter account was created in February 2015. Known for his outstanding skills in Apex Legends and also in FPS games in general, he was formerly a member of the Japanese professional e-sports organization, team Creatives as part of their Alliance of Valiant Arms (AVA) pro gaming team, and after leaving,[1] he started streaming independently mostly on Twitch, then on YouTube. He used a static model during this time.

2021[]

On 11 April, he formally debuted as a VTuber on YouTube with his Live2D model, with a notable amount of people watching live, peaking at around 14,000 viewers simultaneously watching the stream.

Kamito's streaming career skyrocketed after getting matched with NIJISANJI's Kanae in a ranked Apex game. Despite Kamito's loss of the ability to properly function due to being in close proximity of his favorite VTuber, they won the match with Kamito making enough of an impression for Kanae to send him a friends request afterwards. They collaborated multiple times after that, with Kamito eventually being invited to join Kanae's team in the first Crazy Raccoon Cup. Since then, Kamito has participated in many amateur Apex tournaments, both as a player and as a coach.

On 14 May, Kamito tweeted out a letter of gratitude to Kanae, thanking him for everything his help in becoming a full time streamer.

2022[]

On 27 January, Kamito celebrated his birthday and debuted a new costume for the first time.[2] The theme is military dress uniform. He revealed a white suit with blue and gold details with a kepi that he can take off.

On 15 December, Kamito debuted his third costume (counting the initial as the first).[3] The theme is China outfit.

  • On 10 April, he participated in the Apex Festival as team Beringaru along with Tonakaito (Hendy), and Yuuki Chihiro. They placed 8th in the tournament.
  • On 2 May, he participated in the Apex Legends Washu Cup #2 as team オタク台パンコーチ "Otaku Deskslam Coach" along with Tachibana Hinano and Dexyuku. The team lost in the qualifying round.
  • On 15 May, he participated in the Apex Legends Crazy Raccoon Cup #5 as team なりきりチャット睦月會 along with Yufuna and Iori Moe. The team took 9th place in the overall ranking.
  • On 16 May, he participated in the Apex Legends Savage Club Cup as team ぶいすぽっ？ "VSPO?" along with Hinano and Hanabusa Lisa. The team took 4th place in the overall ranking.
  • On 5 June, he participated in the Valorant Crazy Raccoon Cup #1 as team Mercury alongside Reita, Natsushiro Takaaki, Kanae and Alpha Azur. The team finished 3rd in the championship.
  • On 19 June, he participated in the Apex Legends VISC Tournament 2021 Summer as team オタクの親友 "Otaku's Best Friend (My Best Friend)" alongside Hinano and Hendy. The team took 16th place in the overall ranking.
  • On 27 June, he participated in the Apex Festival Gaiden and placed in draft Group A along with Admin, Shibuya Hal, Yufuna, kinako, NIRU, StylishNoob, SHAKA, SPYGEA and Porunga. His team members drafted from Group D and E are Ariken and Dantai. The team took 2nd place in the overall ranking.
  • On 3 July, he participated in the Apex Legends Reignite Cup, as team "Superman" (すーぱーまん) along with Gill and Natsushiro Takaaki. The team took 7th place in the overall ranking.
  • On 19 July, he participated in the Apex Legends Nes League, as team "Seniority System" (年功序列 Nenkou Jouretsu) along with Dexyuku and Mate. The team took 7th place in the overall ranking.
  • On 23 July, he participated in the Apex Legends Crazy Raccoon Cup #6, as team "Babu-chans" (ばぶちゃんず) along with Yufuna and Ars Almal. The team took 13th place in the overall ranking.
  • On 6 August, he participated in VCC Apex organised by VAULTROOM along with Fuwa Minato and Ibrahim. The team took 12th place in the overall ranking.[4]
  • On 22 August, he was involved in Shibuya HAL's Apex Legends VTuber Most Cooperatitive Tournament Season 3 (VSaikyou 3) together with Dexyuku (Fennel), as the coaches for the team "Getsumen Chakuriku" (月面着陸, Moon Landing) consisting of Tachibana Hinano, Asumi Sena, and Kisaragi Ren. Their team took 6th place in the overall ranking.[5] Note: "Cooperatitive" is a portmanteau of "cooperative" and "competitive".
  • On 28 August, he participated in Apex Festival Summer Campaign (えぺまつり夏の陣 Apex Matsuri Natsu no Jin) as team "Sanshoku Danshi" (三色男子) along with Akagami no Tomo and Fuuhaya (UUUM).[6]
  • On 10 September, he participated in Rainbow Six Siege R6 Royal Flush as team "Sabotten Chau Zo" (サボッテンちゃうぞ) along with AlphaAzur, And Uge, Alelu (DeToNator), and BobSappAim; with MeLton (Quintette) as their coach.[7] The team won 1st place in overall ranking.[8]
  • On 14 September, he participated in 2nd VCC Apex organised by VAULTROOM as Team 18 along with Shiromanta (mangaka) and Maitake. The team took 12th place in overall ranking.[9]
  • On 18 September, he participated in Autumn Minecraft Premium Stage ~Big Gathering of Game Streamers~ (秋のマイクラ プレミアム ステージ 〜ゲームストリーマー大集合！〜) as Team B along with nobaman, BobSappAim, Kinako, Masanori, and Shibuya Hal. The team won 1st place in overall ranking.[10]
  • On 9 October, he participated in Apex Legends Crazy Raccoon Cup #7, as team "SoraKaraoreRadda!" (そらからおれらだぁ！) along with Soraru and rader; with Kirino as their coach. Despite getting an iconic win in the first round, the team went on a losing streak in the remaining rounds and ended 12th place in overall ranking.
  • On 25 December, he participated in the CR Apex Festival. Differing from the usual Apex tournament format, all teams except for team HIKAKIN are shuffled each round, and any player who defeats HIKAKIN will receive a 1 million JPY prize. He placed 27th in the overall ranking out of 57 (team HIKAKIN's 3 players are not counted in the lobby of 60 players).[11]

  • From 5 October to 10 November, he had the Kamito × GiGO collaboration merch campaign.
  • From 2 - 12 December, Kamito participated in the Vaultroom x Crazy Raccoon (VCR GTA) Season 3 event server. He was a founding member of the gang "Snake Bite" led by Tachibana Hinano.[15]

  • Kamito's Fans are called "おたくのおたく" (Otaku of the Otaku). This name came about because Kamito is a big fan of VTubers, thus getting nicknamed as an otaku. And as the fans are big fans of Kamito, they too are called Otaku, forming the name "Otaku no otaku".

    • They often collab playing Apex Ranked and even participate in tournaments.
    • They often play games off-stream together, sometimes uploading clips of it on Twitter.

    • They celebrated OreApo 1st anniversary on 5 March 2022.
  • OreApo Ikka (おれあぽ一家, OreApo Family) - Kamito, Tachibana Hinano and Kaga Nazuna.
    • A family offshoot of OreApo with Kamito (father), Hinano (mother) and Nazuna (daughter). Initially formed for the Shibuya HAL weekly customs, this is mainly an Apex trios squad.
    • This is the origin of Kaga Nazuna calling Kamito "Papa" as a nickname even in collabs in other games with other people.
  • Geinin Ryoudan (芸人旅団, Comedian Brigade) - Kamito, Tachibana Hinano, Hanabusa Lisa, Tonakaito (Hendy), Virtual Gorilla, Guilty (Gill), Shirayuki Reid, Kurumi Noah, Nun Bora, Komori Met, and Kanae.
    • This group of friends started with Valheim but now also play Valorant, 7 Days to Die, Minecraft, ARK, FF14 and various types of games together.
    • The OreApo duo started as an offshoot of this friend group during the Valheim arc, before fans named it OreApo.
  • Kanaminto (かなみんと) with Kanae and Admin.
    • Formed for the first Crazy Raccoon (CR) Cup Apex tournament.
  • Beringaru (べぇりんがる) with Hendy and Yuuki Chihiro.
    • This is the origin of the [BRG] tag in Kamito's Apex name.
  • Karuteccho (かるてっちょ) with Hendy, Kurumi Noah and Gorilla.
    • Recurring quartet collab group that plays 4 player games like L4D2, B4B, Overcooked 2, Chained Together and more.
  • Chinshiri (ちんしり) with Hoshikawa Sara and Maitake.
    • Originally formed for Nijipex Apex Customs and has since become a recurring collab group.
  • Otaku Daipan Coach (オタク台パンコーチ, Otaku Desk Slam Coach) - Kamito, Hinano and dexyuku (Duke).
    • Initially formed in 2021 for the Washu Cup tournament qualifiers and since then has become a recurring Apex ranking squad.
  • mafuyu-ke (まふゆ家, mafuyu family) with Restia and mafuyu.
    • mafuyu is an illustrator and VTuber who is Kamito and Restia's shared character designer, making them her "sons" and she their "mama," thus their collab group is called "mafuyu family." The three of them play FPS games like VALORANT together.
    • Kamito debuted before Restia, so Restia calls him "onii-chan" (big brother).
  • Snake Bite with Tachibana Hinano, Hanabusa Lisa, Ichinose Uruha, Nekomugi Tororo, Hendy, Mondo, Rader (Radao), SPYGEA and Raijin.

  • He is a big fan of VTubers, mostly from NIJISANJI, and especially Kanae who is his "oshi" (favorite).
  • He likes playing Godfield and even mentioned reaching double digit rank in Japan.
  • He likes cheese and hamburg steak, with the latter being his go-to meal almost daily.

Miscellaneous[]

  • He has been streaming for 8 years and counting.
  • He doesn't perceive himself as a VTuber.[18]
    • It is often misunderstood, but he himself uses the title of "streamer" instead of "VTuber", even though he has a Live2D model.
    • This is one of the reasons why he does not participate as a player in the Apex VSaikyou tournament, despite other VTubers who have reached Predator rank being allowed to compete.
  • He reached Apex Predator rank solo in Ranked seasons 2, 3, 4 and 5, earning him the reputation of "Solo Predator".
  • He is confident that his grenade throwing skills are one of the best in Japan, and the term "kamigure" (godly grenade) is commonly seen in his Apex streams.
  • He often points out the cheating problems, bugs and certain similarities of skins in Apex Legends, which he thinks is the reason why till this day he hasn't got a sponsorship from EA, even though everyone around him except him gets sponsorships from EA.
  • He is a former pro player in the game A.V.A. (Alliance of Valiant Arms)
  • His main twitter account, formerly with the handle @xxcollomxx got hacked in May 2021, and all of his older tweets got deleted. This is why his account which was created in 2015, does not have any content earlier than 2021.
  • His name, "Kamito," comes from Kazehaya Kamito, the main character of the light novel "Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance."
  • He is good at doing voice impressions of characters voiced by Kamiya Hiroshi, such as Araragi Koyomi (Monogatari) and Trafalgar D. Water Law (One Piece).
  • He originally came to Tokyo to pursue a career in voice acting, stating that his main motivation for doing so was to marry Hanazawa Kana.
    • Funnily enough, on June 2 2022, seiyuu Ono Kensho (Hanazawa Kana's husband) has followed him on Twitter.
  • He used to live in his family house together with his mother in the countryside of Ibaraki.
    • He is currently living alone in Tokyo close to his online friends but avoids directly meeting them if possible.
    • He has an older sister who also lived by herself in Tokyo before he himself moved there.
  • His mom, referred to as "Sakamoto-mama", often participates in his streams' live chat, much to his annoyance.
    • Sakamoto-mama later started streaming Apex, like her son does, on her own Youtube channel Sakamoto-mama (さかもとママ).
  • He became close with fellow streamer Tonakaito (Hendy), who he met through Apex tournaments, even visiting him in person.
  • He was nicknamed Oreo by fans when he asked for name suggestions for his collaboration partnership with Tachibana Hinano. His name is derived from his two-tone black and white hair in the same way Hinano is nicknamed Apollo (chocolate) for her two-tone pink and brown hair.
  • He became Kaga Nazuna's "papa" during his first collab with her.
    • They later participated in the ShibuHal Apex Legends Custom, together with Tachibana Hinano as "OreApo Ikka" (おれあぽ一家, OreApo Family).
    • He became so accustomed to being called "Papa" by her even outside of their family collabs, that he became confused when Retail Row no Ojisan, a.k.a "Ojiji" (owner of esports team Crazy Raccoon) questioned why he was being called "Papa."
  • On March 3, he cleared Elden Ring after an accumulated total of 173 hours of playing on-stream.
  • On 25 November, he defeated the Elite Four in Pokemon: Shining Pearl on-stream using a team consisting of 5 Gravelers and a Gardevoir.
  • He shares his character designer mafuyu with Makoh Lisa of Re:AcT, Restia of SCARZ, Hinata Lima of Vlash and the independent VTubers Yashiro Ai, Myu Mochizuki, Nekomiya Eto, Mashiro Frill, Hisui Tsumugi and Neko Riron.
