Kanna Yanagi (柳かんな) is a female English-speaking Virtual YouTuber. She is a member of Glitch Stars.

She originally debuted as a part of PixelLink's second generation "PixelChronicle," alongside Arisu Oshiro, Chio Chompi, and Daiya Fortuna.

A duck detective, or Ducktective as some would say, Kanna runs the Yanagi Detective Agency. With the help of her trusty Kamogumis, she is sure to uncover any mystery that dares challenge her investigative wits.

Personality

Kanna is a comfy, humble, and seiso girl known for her positivity and optimism. In her chill vibe, she often giggles and makes cute duck noises. While not above the occasional silly prank or playful tease, she treats everyone with the utmost kindness, and works tirelessly to bring smiles to her community and Vtuber peers alike.

Appearance

Kanna has blonde hair with a single white stripe, along with pointed ears, yellow eyes, round eyebrows, and large round glasses. She wears a plaid green outer coat, bowtie, and beret, along with a long-sleeved white shirt under a brown short dress. She has a variety of hairstyles, the two most common being very long (beyond waist-length) and very short. In reference to her original incarnation, her hair can have a long spiral ahoge on the right side of her head, along with shoulder-length pigtails. Her arms can transform into harpy wings.

Kanna's original look is that of an always-smiling girl with long pale blond hair, yellow eyes, and round eyebrows. She wears her hair in twin braids falling around her face, with one long spiral ahoge on the right side of her head. Her outfit invokes the Victorian era: blue plaid skirt, short cape around her shoulders, and feathered detective cap, as well as a white shirt, yellow bow tie, and big black boots. She wears large half-rim glasses. She can hold a brown briefcase covered with stickers, or a magnifying glass.

Background

Kanna's YouTube account was created on 7 February 2024.

On 11 May 2024, the PixelLink Twitter account announced the upcoming debuts of their second generation. The post revealed the members' Twitter accounts and teased silhouettes. On 14 May, due to her original Twitter account being shadowbanned, PixelLink made a new Twitter account for Kanna, @KannaPixelLink.

On 25 May 2024, Kanna made her debut stream on YouTube.

2024

On 2 June, she opened her membership.

On 19 June, she reached 10,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

On 28 August, she reached 20,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

2025

Going independent

On 22 February, PixelLink announced its dissolution. Simultaneously, Kanna announced that she had purchased her IP from PixelLink and was an independent VTuber effective immediately.

On 24 February, Kanna changed her Twitter handle from @KannaPixelLink to @Yanagi_Kanna and re-established her Twitch account.

On 27 February, Kanna hosted a formal PixelLink graduation stream, doubling as her "official" indie debut.

On 19 May, she reached 50,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

On 28 May, Kanna celebrated her one-year anniversary, having forgotten that her debut date was on 25 May. She then, via a (totally not rigged) poll, determined that all future anniversary celebrations will take place on 28 May.

Joining Glitch Stars

On 7 June, Kanna announced that she has joined Glitch Stars. She debuted solo, not officially being part of any Glitch Stars generation.

On 12 July, Kanna debuted a "duck harpy" model.

On 3 October, she reached 60,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.

Organized events

Kanna is known for organizing events featuring large numbers of independent and agency-affiliated VTubers.

2024

• On 24 August, Kanna hosted the first "Mario Kart Summer Madness" tournament, a Mario Kart 8 tournament featuring more than 50 VTubers, and served as commentator alongside Poko Rakun and Lottie Shinju. The tournament was won by Mivi Aivori.
• Between 5 and 6 October, Kanna and V4Mirai member Kou Mariya launched a 24 hour karaoke relay event named Rockin' Relay. This relay involved VTubers from V4Mirai, PixelLink, idol Corp, V-Dere, VSPO!, V&U, Specialite, globie, Prima Project, as well as Obake PAM and various independents.
• From 23 November - 7 December, Kanna hosted the "VHistoric ARK" event, taking place on a dedicated ARK: Survival Evolved server with more than 30 participating VTubers.

2025

• On 8 February, Kanna and globie member Cera Luceria hosted Sweet Valentine's ASMR Relay, an ASMR relay involving 12 VTubers, including themselves.
• From 23 March - 5 April, Kanna hosted "Wild Frontiers: Steampunk Stories", a steampunk-themed Minecraft event involving 70 VTubers.
• From 30 - 31 August, Kanna hosted the second annual "Mario Kart Summer Madness", this time featuring more than 70 VTubers, with Kanna, Poko, and Lazuli commentating. The tournament was won by Ashton Marten, with Rebbi Rompin placing second and Mivi in third.

Minecraft VSMP

Kanna is a driving force behind the "Minecraft VSMP", a cross-agency Minecraft server.

• The original Minecraft VSMP opened on 17 June 2024, and closed due to the dissolution of PixelLink.
• Minecraft VSMP 2, a successor server, formally opened on 28 June 2025. VSMP 2 was built by a team consisting of Kanna, Lyko Lianna, Poko Rakun, Furi Ferntail, and a former PixelLink manager, and incorporates a number of mods previously featured in the "Wild Frontiers" event. On 16 October, Kanna announced that this server would close on 23 November (following a server closing event on 8-9 November) and that VSMP would switch to a new format focused on two month-long "seasons" per year with a fresh server being available during the months of February and September.

2024

• On 4-8 September, Kanna participated in the "Sajam Street Fighter Slam" (also known as "Sajam Slam 3"), a Street Fighter 6 team event hosted by fighting game commentator Sajam. Kanna was part of "Team Shine" alongside Victoria Brightshield, Fumiko Hoshi, Infernasu and Shine, and used (Modern) M.Bison as her character of choice. On tournament day, she defeated Dokibird but lost to LilyPichu as Team Shine advanced to Losers Finals. As Kanna could not make the trip to TwitchCon for the finals, Serotina replaced her for the final sets, with Team Shine ultimately taking 2nd place.

2025

• On 12 January, Kanna participated in the "Destined Showdown" Cardfight!! Vanguard tournament hosted by Nova Aokami. Kanna used a Levidras deck, and faced off against Poseidon.
• On 6 September 2025, Kanna participated in the Minecraft Race to the Moon Tournament as part of team "B&B (Bird and Bunnies)."

Mascot and fans

• Kanna's fans are called "Kamogumis," or "Kamos" for short. Kamogumi roughly translates to "Duck Group."
• Kanna's membership is named "Kamo Squad," a partial translation of Kamogumi.
• Kamos are depicted as small, yellow ducklings that love to eat cookies and are said to reside within the walls of the Yanagi Detective Agency.

Trivia

Name

• "Yanagi," written with the kanji 「柳」, means "willow."
• "Kanna" is a Japanese female given name, meaning "summer breeze." It is also a reference to "anda," the Norwegian word for "duck."
• As a member of PixelLink, her name was written in Japanese as かんな柳, which is "Kanna Yanagi" in western order. Upon leaving PixelLink, she added her Japanese name to her channel with the proper Japanese order of 柳かんな, or "Yanagi Kanna."

• Kanna is a Call duck/harpy hybrid. Prior to her 2025 redebut, she was simply a call duck.
  • Thanks to her pointed ears, she can pass for an elf, which she occasionally utilizes in roleplay ASMRs.
