Kuro Kurenai, also known as K9 Kuro, is an English language VTuber affiliated with VShojo. He debuted on 30 September 2023. He is the fourteenth VTuber to debut with VShojo, and the first male member.

Personality[]
Kuro is known for his eccentric nature, characterized by his loud and outspoken way of speaking, humorous and bizarre personality, and proneness to swearing. He also has a sense of maturity, being able to straightforwardly discuss serious topics and address them when needed.
While he presents himself as talkative and bombastic on-stream, Kuro has stated that he is actually fairly shy when he isn't streaming.
Appearance[]
Kuro has red undertones in his short, dark hair, red eyes, and a black mouth mask that covers half of his face. His right brow has been pierced. He also wears a black cross earring. His clothes are a black t-shirt with a tear in the front and stitches that fall over his left shoulder to reveal a white pattern on the front of the shirt. His lower torso is bandaged on the left leg and garter belt on the right thigh. He's wearing short black shorts. His white bandages around his neck had dried blood stains. He's clad in a red and black jacket with puffy sleeves and a black hoodie with red ears. He's wearing black boots with silver spikes that reach his ankles.

Background[]
Prior to joining VShojo, Kuro reached out to Ironmouse seeking help with handling a complicated tax situation. She referred him to VShojo's founder Gunrun, who impressed him with the efforts he made to help out. Kuro had planned for several months to debut as an independent VTuber, but instead joined VShojo. [1]
Kuro's Twitch account was created on 30 July 2023. His YouTube account for highlights, clips and VODs was created on the same day. His Twitter account was created on 8 September 2023.
On 24 September 2023, the VShojo Twitter account posted a short video with the hashtag #UndeadK9.[2] On 27 September, they announced the upcoming debut of a new member, named Kuro.[3] At the same time, Kuro posted his first tweet, consisting of the text "woof...woof...bark...bark? ❤️🩹".[4]
Debut[]
Kuro debuted on Twitch on 30 September 2023 at 6pm PST or 9AM EST. He reached 20,000 followers shortly before debut began, and 40,000 followers by the end of the stream. He reached 1,000 paid subscribers within 4 minutes of going live, 2,000 subs in the first 25 minutes, and over 3,000 by stream end. The September debut allowed viewers to benefit from Twitch's Subtember event, which offered reduced price subscriptions. He also announced a debut merch drop. The stream reached a peak viewership of 34,196.
2023[]
On 31 December, Kuro debuted his 3D model.
2024[]
On 15 January, Kuro hosted his first subathon.
On 5 February, Kuro held his first facecam stream, which also served as his face reveal. He did this because when he goes to Japan he wants to be able to do vlogs.
On 1 October, Kuro re-debuted with a new pirate model. All of his previous YouTube videos with his old model were set to unlisted, and relegated to a playlist titled OLD VIDEOS (UNDEAD ERA).

- The black cat-like pet appearing in his videos is named Whisper. It is named so because he whispers to it at night about how depressed he is.

- Kuro is the Japanese word for "black". It is sometimes given as a name to pets of that color.
- Kurenai is also a Japanese word, meaning "scarlet".

- He is referred to as The God of Undead Miracles.
- Kuro is half of a symbiotic duo with a being named Shiro. They were once a singular being - with Shiro working during the day and Kuro at night, but the gods divided them in two due to continuous misuse of their power and were bound to a lake by holy shackles. The pair gained power by taking life force from visitors in exchange for granting wishes. Ten years later after being sealed, Shiro disappeared after granting Kuro's wish for freedom.

- Kuro is the 14th VTuber to join VShojo overall, including the three former members that left.
- Kuro credits Ironmouse and Gunrun for why he joined. He stated he originally planned to be independent but changed his mind after they were the only people who helped him sort through tax troubles and had his back during a very stressful time in his life.
- Kuro is the first male member of VShojo. His gender was kept secret prior to debut.
- However, viewers had speculated that the new member would be male due to the use of neutral pronouns in promotional material, the title "God of Undead Miracles" instead of "Goddess," and an incident where Ironmouse appeared to use "he" and "King" when talking about the new member, and Henya using "san".
- As a kid, he once had a rock thrown at his head, and it started bleeding. ("That probably explains why I'm a VTuber today.")
- His left pinky toe doesn't bend, and he doesn't know why. It has no joint in the middle.
- When he was younger, he wanted to be a mage. He attempted to summon a spirit using a spell he found online, and was so startled when his dog slammed into the door that he never did magic again.
