Leaflit primarily streams on Twitch, including the regular events Memberberry Mondays and Weeb Wednesdays. She shares the channel with her real-life mother, Asari Mitsuha, who occasionally makes appearances.

Personality[]

Leaflit is highly competitive at video games. She is easily scared, and doesn't like horror games or scary movies. She can be clueless and inattentive at times, and often makes mistakes. She is strongly supportive of her friends and works hard to support her stream and other streamers. She is open with her feelings.

Her dreams are to make friends and to reach for the stars. Her hobbies are cooking, tabletop RPGs, and eating other VTubers.

Appearance[]

Leaflit is a blue slimegirl, with red eyes and a red antenna which resembles an ahoge. She has a red slime core. Her lower body is rarely seen, but includes a pair of legs. As a slime, she is capable of manipulating her form in various ways, although she usually assumes a humanoid form. Examples include manifesting more than two arms at once, or creating a question mark from her head.

Leaflit has an alternate faerie form, in which she is a blue-haired humanoid with pointed ears, wearing clothing including a red hat and cape. However, this form is mostly illusory.

Side-characters and co-hosts[]

Co-hosts[]

Asari Mitsuha

Asari Mitsuha, Leaflit's mother.

Leaflit's real-world mother, the faerie VTuber Asari Mitsuha, often appears on the channel, especially in Minecraft collabs with Leaflit. Asari's VTuber career began when she was streaming Microsoft Flight Simulator on Leaflit's channel when she was raided by Nyatasha Nyanners, a streamer with around ten times as many viewers. Asari subsequently had her own Live2D model commissioned and became a VTuber in her own right. Asari appears in Leaflit's tier 2 emotes, such that a a tier 2 sub is referred to as a "mom sub".

In 2021, a character named Goblit appeared on the channel. Goblit is a goblin who resembles Leaflit but is green, has a raspy voice, and has a penchant for stealing crispy socks.

Waifu Wars Wednesdays[]

Main article: Waifu Wars at the Leaflit Wiki

Waifu Wars began when Leaflit ran a D&D-style event where chat controlled a character venturing into an ancient temple to find a scroll to heal their imouto (younger sister). Chat demanded to know more about the sister character, and the game devolved into a sixteen-way voting tournament of viewer-submitted Waifu Labs AI-generated characters.

Waifu Wars tournaments took place on a regular basis, usually on the first Wednesday of every month, with the winners becoming official characters who receive 3D VRChat models, a voiced trailer, and their own theme song. A runner-up character is often sponsored by viewers to become a character. As of 2023, the last Waifu Wars took place on 22 December 2021.

Most character models are created by Oliver Canticle. Oliver later started watching Waifu Wars after becoming curious why Leaflit kept commissioning models from him, and at least once voted based on which would be easiest to model. He also produced YouTube videos featuring the characters, such as 【MMD/Waifu Wars Wednesday】 Iyo, Luna, Sarah, Ghost, Naya, Prof.Wagglewompy - お気に召すまま/As You Like It.

History[]

Background[]

Leaflit's YouTube and Twitch channels were created on 26 Sep 2011 and 7 Dec 2011 respectively. The channels were originally created for use in a collaboration between League of Legends YouTubers Shurelia and LilyPichu, known as Shurelily. Both streamers used commissioned artwork as avatars to represent their characters in livestreams, with hotkeys to manually switch between facial expressions. However, technology such as FaceRig did not yet exist to display real-time physical movement.

2020[]

A slime girl character first appeared on the former Shurelily Twitch channel on Twitch on 13 March. On 11 June she revealed the current avatar with red eyes, as well as the new name, Leaflit. The name Leaflit was previously used as one of Shurelia's D&D characters.

On 18 August, Leaflit's mother was streaming Microsoft Flight Simulator on her Twitch account when she was raided by popular VTuber Nyatasha Nyanners. Her concurrent viewer count shot up by around 800%.[1] Leaflit's mother subsequently decided to debut as a VTuber in her own right, Asari Mitsuha.

In stream on 25 August, she revealed her alternate faerie form. This is a 3D avatar which Leaf also uses in VRChat.

Leaflit became a Twitch partner on 30 September, as revealed by fellow VTuber Cece the Dragon during an interview on The Leaflit Show.[2] Leaflit had known this prior to the stream, but had chosen not to reveal it herself because "cool guys don't look at explosions".

On 9 November, she revealed a new 2D avatar of her alternate faerie form, including a red guild uniform hat and cloak.

From her debut until the end of 2020, Leaflit's top games were Stream Raiders, Just Chatting, Minecraft, Genshin Impact, and Spellbreak.

On 30 September, Leaflit began her subathon, revealing a new chibi model. Prior to the stream, she accidentally deleted all her OBS scenes and had to recreate them from scratch. She spent most of the event playing Cyberpunk 2077. She also revealed a new Halloween outfit inspired by the characer Furudo Erika from the visual novel Umineko. The subathon was scheduled to run "until I get tired." It lasted 21½ hours, and ended on 1 October.

She was absent for most of November due to a holiday in Japan, followed by a respiratory illness which she caught during her holiday in Japan. She next streamed on 1 December. She spent the time watching One Piece.

On 6 December, Leaflit finally debuted the 2.0 version of her slime Live2D model, which had been in the works for a year. The new model has updated features such as teeth and improved fluid mechanics. Art was the original slime model art by Kriss Sison, with new rigging by Cilphy.

Trivia[]

Homeland[]

  • Leaflit lives in an isekai fantasy world. She connects to our world's internet by an isekai internet system, and has visited our world in the past.
  • Leaflit was born in Houkaina, in the kingdom of Northi.
  • Leaflit lives in the city-state of Mothergreen in the region of Axias, following its annexation by Westria in a recent war. It is located on the Lyrian Peninsula. Mothergreen is a free trade city, although she spent several years growing up on Earth during the war.
  • Travel between Leaflit's world and ours is controlled by the Isekai Management Bureau. Leaflit's mother is an Earth technology specialist working for this agency, which is why her family are able to visit Earth in human guise. While the existence of isekai travel is classified, Leaflit is free to discuss it because the Bureau assumes nobody will actually believe her.
  • Leaflit claims that several notable Twitch streamers are actually from other worlds.

Species and family[]

  • Leaflit is a slimegirl; more specifically a chimera slime half-faerie (selkie). Her father is a slime, descended from a slime transformed into a sentient humanoid by powerful ambient magic long ago. Her mother is a faerie VTuber named Asari Mitsuha; a selkie, a water-type faerie. Half-faerie slimes are uncommon; 99% of slime/faerie pairings produce a faerie.
  • Slimes possess poor eyesight, and have difficulty tracking moving objects. Leaflit's red antenna serves as a visual organ to help compensate. Leaflit sometimes activates an enhanced tracking mode while playing games, during which yellow stars are visible in her eyes.
  • Slimes are also resistant to slashing and piercing damage, but their core is vulnerable to damage. Slimes often learn to disguise the presence or location of their core by refracting light through their bodies.
  • As a result of being half-faerie, Leaflit has low constitution (for a slime), limited poison resistance, and is less resilient against weapons made of iron. However, she is resilient against illusion, and more skilled with illusion magic.
  • As a part selkie, Leaflit possesses a seal coat. According to selkie tradition, if anyone steals this coat, she must marry them. Its location is a carefully guarded secret.
  • Slimes are made of a non-Newtonian fluid, which allows them to retain their semi-solid form.
  • As a slime, Leaflit is capable of manifesting more than two arms at a time, which she uses to improve her typing speed. She can type at around 120 WPM.
  • Leaflit's blue color is believed to be caused by Raleigh scattering, the same photoelectric effect which causes the sky to appear blue.
  • After an intensive training session with an uncle on an unnamed mountain range, Leaflit has gained the ability to transform her appearance to more resemble a faerie. However, this change is largely illusory, and does not affect her abilities. Part of her motivation was that slimes are rare in Mothergreen, and she wanted to receive fewer odd looks from visitors to the guild.
  • Leaflit knows a limited amount of magic, and can only produce weak ice cantrips. She can also teleport between her home and the guild where she works, but this is the result of a magical artifice rather than her own power.
  • Slimes are omnivorous, but Leaflit prefers to eat meat, ideally as raw as possible.
  • Leaflit has family relatives among the yokai of Japan on Earth.
  • At her debut in 2020, Leaflit's height was originally given as 3'6", or 107 cm. As of 2022, she changed it to 137 cm (4'6"). The difference is explained by her standing up straight.
  • Although the drips of slime from Leaflit's hair appear to be stationary, this is actually an optical illusion caused by the camera shutter speed synchronizing exactly with the drip rate.
    • After having the slime model re-rigged in 2023, she now appears to drip normally.

  • Leaflit's hobbies are gaming, firearms, cooking, fishing, and foraging.
  • Leaflit is a huge fan of the Pretty Cure anime franchise. Her favorite series is Smile Pretty Cure, while her favourite character is Cure Honey from HappinessCharge Pretty Cure. She has visited Earth in the past via a portal, primarily to purchase copious amounts of Pretty Cure merchandise.[5] Her streams sometimes devolve into lengthy "Precure simping" sessions in which she subjects her viewers to clips from the series and shows off her collection of merchandise.
    • In 2021, Leaflit's Precure simping streams were reduced to one per month. However, for copyright reasons, they are no longer permitted.
  • Her other favorite anime are the Pretty Cure series, Magical Girl Pretty Sammy, Netjuu no Susume, Mai-HIME, Mai Otome, Bartender, Record of Lodoss War, and many shounen anime.

  • Her goals are to raise her adventurer rank, to grow her channel to 75,000 followers, to improve her YouTube channel, to stay true, to finish her tabletop roleplaying game, grow Angel's Sword Studios, and to get better at singing.

The character Miyamizu Mitsuha from animated movie Your Name uses the same kanji in her name. • Leaf also briefly trained in swordfighting before taking up a desk job in the adventurer's guild. She used to wear a sword on her back, but discovered it was impossible to actually draw. She practiced dual wielding to gain an advantage over opponents. After she gave up sword training, she had a spear specially commissioned after being inspired by Balsa from the anime Seirei no Moribito, but had trouble actually wielding it because it was about four feet taller than her.
  • After being falsely accused of eating former League of Legends streamer Shurelia, Leaflit announced her intent to eat rival VTubers. She subsequently actually cooked and ate reindeer meat representing Haruka Karibu, shark jerky representing Artemis of the Blue, and jellyfish for Luna the Magikarp.

  • Leaflit has a portal in the adventurer's guild library, which she has used in the past to interview other VTubers. In one instance, Leaf actually traveled through the portal to Haruka Karibu's homeland of Canada, but discovered she was unable to return home the same way. How she got home is still a mystery.
  • A ghost once threatened to kill her.
    • Despite encountering ghosts twice in her life, she does not believe in ghosts.
  • The opening animation depicts an event when Leaflit was late for work at the Angel's Sword adventurer's guild while foraging in the woods for wild chantrelle. Rushing back, she tripped on a rock and nearly dropped her mushrooms.
