Mado (マド）is an independent English Virtual YouTuber who debuted on 19 December, 2020.

Profile[]
A cactus fairy who gave up her magic to bring creativity back to the human world. Above all else, she loves to inspire passion in other people.
Mado enjoys playing indie games, weird RPGs, visual novels, and classic games from the GBA and DS era. She also sings opera, draws, voice-acts, and develops her own games.
Personality[]
Mado is a friendly and passionate young cactus fairy who loves to chat, create, and be adventurous. Aside from her BGM, all of her streaming assets were made by herself (such as her model and overlays), leading to some of her fans dubbing her the "indiest VTuber".[1]
However, Mado also has a bizarre sense of humor, a bevy of cursed food opinions (such as eating cereal without milk), and a burning hatred of orange-flavored things. On top of this, she frequently declares war on mushrooms and trees that set themselves on fire.
That said, on most days Mado is a soothing and relaxing presence. She enjoys talking at length about the artistic process behind her favorite pieces of media, giving advice to aspiring storytellers and creators, or looking at the bigger picture when it comes to life.
Appearance[]
Mado appears to be a small, plush-like fairy; similar to mascots such as Kudamaru, a star fairy, or Nakanon, a lotus fairy.
Her body is completely white, save for two yellow, circular marks on her cheeks. She has four fingers on each hand. Two cacti are attached to her head, each with four yellow spikes. Both of the cacti have white flowers and pink centers, but the flowers’ number of petals differ; the right cactus’s flower has five petals, whereas the left cactus’s flower has four. The smaller white flowers within Mado’s hair also differ; the right flower has four petals, while the left has three.
On top of this, Mado has a third, smaller cactus as her tail, with a four-petaled flower growing from it. Unfortunately, this cannot be seen outside of her drawn turnarounds, as she is always facing forward.
Mado’s eyes are a bright green-blue, with yellow-white highlights. They are framed by a pair of large, black, circular glasses; ones with two lashes on each side. She also features a cat-like split lip. Her mouth hides many sharp teeth of differing sizes.
Mado’s hair is bright pink and styled in a bob. Her skirt, suspenders, buttons and shoes are the same color, as well as the ribbons that circle her blouse’s sleeves, collar and front. These sections of the blouse also have lace. Mado’s blouse is mostly white; as are her circular skirt clasps, socks, heels and petticoat. As well as this, Mado’s collar has a yellow flower with three petals, a white center, and two green leaves.
History[]
Debut[]
Mado created her YouTube channel on October 14, 2012. However, she seldom used the account, aside from uploading animatics and comic dubs that she made in her spare time. The most notable of these was her animatic Kinoko Nasu and The Holy Grail,[2] one that combined audio from Monty Python and the Holy Grail with characters from the Fate/ series.
Prior to becoming a VTuber, Mado was well-known on other platforms as an illustrator, comic artist and game developer. She first appeared as Virtual YouTuber on December 17, 2020, when she made the debut stream CACTUS FAIRY MANIFESTING. [3]
2021[]
On October 31st, Mado had her first collaboration; playing a game of Among Us with several other VTubers across Twitch and YouTube.[4]
On November 27th, Mado celebrated 1,000 YouTube subscribers. This coincided with her birthday.[5]
2022[]
On January 5th, Mado released her first commercial visual novel, Bad Faith, on Itch.io.[6] She later released the game on GameJolt[7] and Steam.[8]
In late February, Mado celebrated 5,000 YouTube subscribers.[9] The increase in subscribers came from one of her animations (Misery X CPR X Reese's Puffs (Fate/Stay Night)) going viral.
On March 15th, Mado was killed by a passing meteor.[10] In the process, she become infected with Meteoritis, and her ghost streamed for two future streams. Coincidentally, she also announced the debut of Mado V2; a wholly remade version of Mado.
On March 19th, Mado V2 made her debut; featuring greater movements, several expressions, and physics.[11] Most importantly, Mado V2 gained teeth, which meant she could now eat solid foods. This debut also gave Mado's overlays a complete makeover; from new chatrooms to new intro, pause, and ending screens for her streams.
On April 1st, an infant version of Mado made her debut.[12] While she entertained the chat for nearly an hour, she was soon "disposed of" by the adult Mado. Mado later explained that the infant Mado was a runaway clone. Since then, this particular infant has not made any reappearances.
On May 20th, Mado hosted a concert to celebrate her graduation from her university's 5 year dual-degree program.[13] She officially graduated from university on May 22nd. [14]
On May 23rd, Mado opened her channel memberships, as well as her official Discord server.[15]

- On April 2nd, 2022, Mado was featured on Indiepocalypse Radio, where she talked about the development of her visual novel, Bad Faith.[16][17]

- Mado's fans are officially known as the "Prickly Pals." As a running joke, Mado sometimes refers to them as the "Sussy Cactussies", but her fans always reject the name.
- Mado's memberships are known as the "Prickly Pal Perks." Among other privileges, Prickly Pals who join gain their own infant Mado clone.[15]

- Although her image color is pink, Mado's favorite color is actually yellow.
- Mado was born in England and lived there for 18 years. She moved to the United States to attend university.
- Mado has practiced as an opera singer for over 10 years. In 2018, she was awarded an ARSM Diploma with Distinction for her singing ability.
- Mado can speak 5 languages; English, Chinese, French, German and Japanese. She also understands some ancient Latin.[18]
- Mado has a twin sister known as Clu. Prickly Pals have nicknamed her "Wado"; framing her as the "evil twin" to Mado's "good twin" (similar to how Wario is portrayed as an "evil counterpart" to Mario).[19] As a mad scientist, Clu clones Mado for fun and thrashes her opponents at Quiplash. [12][19] On April 22, 2022, Clu's appearance was officially revealed.[20]
- Mado's favorite foods are chocolate and cheese.[21]
- Mado is lactose intolerant.
- Mado has published several comics; including Seven Miles Down, a cosmic horror story featured in WEBTOON's BRAIN Anthology, and I Admire You A Whole Lot!, an award-winning drama story.[22][23]

- Mado is a massive fan of TYPE-MOON, especially of the Fate/ series. Her favorite entries are Fate/Stay Night, Fate/EX (Extra, CCC and Extella) and Fate/Grand Order; though she hasn't started Fate/Grand Order's second arc Cosmos in the Lostbelt. Because CCC has not received an official English localization, Mado wants to stream the game when the English fan translation is finished. She also wants to read Fate/Hollow Ataraxia.
- Mado's favorite movies are Arrival, Castle In The Sky, Parasite, The Matrix Resurrections, Monty Python and The Holy Grail, The Favorite, Azur & Asmar: The Prince's Quest, The Book of Kells and Kingsman.[24]

Mado's stream incidents[]
- While playing retro games, Mado has experienced several save-related accidents. The most unfortunate of these was when she accidentally loaded an old save of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story while changing her expression, losing two hours of progress as a result.[25]
- Mado has a very puerile sense of humor. For example, when a Prickly Pal recounted a childhood story of smacking a friend with an egg-sized puddle of boogers, she lost her composure for several minutes.[26] Another example is when Mado re-discovered the Rump Command in Bowser's Inside Story, as the location's very unfortunate placement made her laugh.[27]
- In one stream, Mado labelled all of the states of the US from memory. By the end of the stream, she only got 8 states correct.[28]
- In another stream, Mado did 100 flips for no particular reason. While performing this daring stunt, she sang, imitated Mario, and told the Prickly Pals several weird facts.[29]
- Mado has read the entirety of the Bee Movie's script live.[30]
- During her Earthbound playthrough, Mado got infected by a Ramblin' Mushroom. To cure her condition, she went to the hospital. Unfortunately, because Mado's controls changed every time she entered a new room, she found herself wandering in and out of the hospital for several minutes. Naturally, this lead to her yelling at the hospital to let her in.[31] Because of this incident, Mado now despises all mushrooms.
