Personality[]

Mint is shy and relaxing, but also bubbly and energetic, with good conversational skills. Despite claiming to be poor at multitasking, she is skilled at playing a game while talking to chat at the same time. She is attentive to stream chat, and has the ability to make streams of even bad games entertaining.

She has bad luck, especially with plans, and occasionally suffers from migraines and headaches. However, she continues despite setbacks. She tends to be a lot more expressive on Twitter.

She has the ability to sing quite well, usually with a stronger voice, which she calls her Ara Ara Voice. This includes an opera voice.

Appearance[]

She is a VTuber who has the appearance of a Japanese café maid, with a symbolic hitaikakushi, often referred to with other names since the actual name isn't as well known, especially or more specifically with English viewers. She has two bowties, one blue and one black, with a ghost clip with a green gradient color. She has a primarily white collar with black and green stripes that go inside the top part of the outfit, with a black flap and blue tie under the collar.

She has short white hair with green ends, with straight cut bangs. She has a black corset, tied with blue strings that puff out the bust more, and is where the apron starts. Also present is a knee length green skirt, with two black stripes, the highest being the thickest compared to the second, black bows on top, and the skirt ending with black. She has a petticoat, making the entire skirt more puffy, ankle white symmetrical socks, with black shoes that have a green welt and heel.

On 14 March 2021, Mint debuted with a second model, that is slightly similar but very different. Her hair being more curly, with the addition of pigtails that have mint colored stripes with blue bows. Her green ends instead faded in to a deeper mint color, with one side bang having a double yellow band. The collar was shorter, less stiff, more frilly, with only a mint stripe. The blue tie was replaced with a milk chocolate-colored bowtie. She had mint colored sleeves with attached frills at both ends, a diamond shaped hole at the upper end of the arm, with a brown strand with frills and a blue bow on top.

The outfit itself was more similar to a French maid outfit, with a pinafore, with the ghost clip being bigger and on top of the pinafore. The pinafore extended from the skirt and cuts off before the bust. Behind her there was a white patterned ribbon which extends outwards with a translucent mint gradient, with brown parallelogram milk chocolate shapes, which extends outwards also.

Her skirt was brown, with parts of it being covered by a green, patterned white stripes, with a yellow end and blue bow in the center layer. She wore an over-knee-length white sock, with there being chocolate on top, with frills outward, and a brown garter belt with a blue bow on top, while on the other leg is an ankle-length white sock, with a blue patterned end, with translucent frills that have a gold patterned end, and a blue band with frills over the knee. She wore brown shoes with a lighter chocolate pattern, a brown bow behind, with a single brown strap at the front with a golden button, and double strap on the instep.

History[]

Background[]

Mint auditioned for the original branch of hololive English in 2020, but when she was not selected she decided to debut as an independent VTuber. She had no prior experience with streaming, and only a little experience in graphic design.

Her Twitter account was created on 18 June 2020, while her YouTube account was created on 28 June 2020. Her activity on YouTube began on 18 July 2020.

On 24 July 2020, Mint officially debuted on YouTube. Viewership for the stream peaked at around 200, and she quickly gained subscribers. Poor audio quality was attributed to what fans dubbed the "Toaster Mic."

2020[]

On 30 July she reached 2,500 YouTube subscribers, for which she streamed a celebration.

On 1 October she celebrated her birthday. A group of fans produced a visual novel featuring her, based on their interpretations of Mint's past, as Mint herself cannot remember.

On 14 October she reached 4,444 subscribers, which she considered a milestone since 4 in Japanese can be read as shi, meaning death.

On the 31st of October she opened up YouTube memberships. The first 44 members were offered a card signed by Mint herself as a reward, and competition to be in that number was intense.

On 5 November she held a collaboration with Amano Pikamee. Pikamee's popularity was credited with boosting Mint's viewership.

On 4 December she reached 10,000 subscribers, which occurred during an Among Us collaboration. As a result, she streamed Phasmophobia by herself.

2021[]

On 12 January she reached 12,000 subscribers, which coincided with her 6 month anniversary stream.

On 11 March, she posted a cover of BUSTIN by Neil Cicierega, saying "this was supposed to come out months ago." It was originally intended for release in late 2020.

On 14 March she debuted her second model, and during the model reveal stream she rewrote her lore. The model was also originally intended to have been released earlier, but was delayed due to reasons.

Retirement[]

On 19 March she announced her intention to retire, following a final stream on 3 April. Although some fans questioned her decision to debut her second model so shortly before retirement, Mint reasoned that it was a thank you to everyone who had supported her, saying also, "You may think it was a 'waste of money', but it was important to me."

On 22 March she reached 15,000 subscribers.

On 3 April, Mint held her graduation stream, which ended with the song "BUSTIN" by Neil Cicierega, a parody of the theme to Ghostbusters. By the end of the stream she reached 17,000 YouTube subscribers and 13,000 Twitch followers. She announced that most of her YouTube content would be privated by 10 April. Her YouTube membership feature was suspended, her Twitter account was privated, and and her other accounts were deleted, including Twitch and her Discord server.

2024[]

On 1 April, Mint made a surprise return as the co-host of a new podcast alongside Matara Kan of VShojo.[2] During the pre-show, Mint confirmed that she would return to streaming on YouTube in some form on 4 April, three years after her retirement.[3][4] Mint's YouTube subscriber count raised from 28,300 before the announcement to over 80,000 by 2 April. Matara Kan paid to have Mint's model re-rigged for the event. The announcements were initially mistaken by some fans for April Fools jokes.

On 4 April, she reached 100,000 subscribers, gaining more than 70,000 subscribers in the span of 4 days. Her return stream later that day reached more than 25,000 viewers at peak.
