Personality
In her introduction stream, Moona introduced herself as a shy and quiet girl, which is the opposite of her image of a flat-faced college girl despite the fact she still speaks in an upbeat tone and a rather unique Indonesian accent. In the months following her debut, she rapidly developed into a more confident, upbeat talent. Moona often refers to herself as two souls sharing the same body: "Moona," the human aspect who speaks normally, and "Hoshinova," the moon goddess aspect who speaks in a lower pitch and shows a much more ominous, malevolent, and provocative personality.
Moona has been shown to be a fast learner when it comes to new games, and it is not uncommon for her to go quiet in the middle of a stream to focus on gameplay. She has an eye for detail, and will often take her time to make sure she's doing something exactly as she wants it.
She is known to have a large appetite, frequently eating snacks on stream and talking about food, with cheeseburgers being a favorite of she and her fans. Moona is also known for her presence on Twitter, often interacting with fans, as well as posting spontaneous thoughts and observations with the hashtag "#RandoMoona".
Like Tsunomaki Watame, she loves to bob and weave her head and body around. She loves to shitpost on Twitter while trying to connect with her fans. Moona is fond of teasing and flirting with her chat and other hololive members.
Moona's ability to make others laugh gave her the reputation of being a comedian, but she jumps on any occasion to force people telling she rather is an idol.
She became renown before hololive for her experience at Minecraft, and so many members call for her help. In such case, Moona brings to them both resources and workforce. This aura reflected later on Kaela Kovalskia after Moona taught her.
Appearance
Moona is a young woman with purple eyes and hair that fades to a light shade of yellow toward its tips. Although she otherwise appears as a regular human, the hair that flows behind her head is illuminated with shining white stars, which fits into her night sky theme. Her main outfit consists of a black sleeveless shirt and shorts, a loose, baggy white jacket that is tied with a black belt and worn off of her shoulders, and a pair of white and black thigh-high boots. This outfit also includes accessories like a blue and orange ribbon with a matching star ornament that is tied around her collar, a black choker around her neck, and an earring on her right ear.

Her Twitter account was created on March 2020, while her first tweet was made on 7 April,[12] her YouTube channel was created on 3 March and her debut stream was on 11 April.
2020
On 4 June, she premiered her first cover "Again" by Beverly.
On 14 August, hololive Indonesia's Twitter account announced that the first generation would get a their seconda costume commemorating Indonesia's Independence Day.[13]
On 16 August, she debuted her second 2D costume based on traditional Indonesian clothes, and using a ponytail.[14]
2021
On 6 January, she reached 400,000 YouTube subscribers, the first Indonesian hololive member to do so.
On 16 February, she released her original song "Ai no Chiisana Uta," while reaching 500,000 YouTube subscribers, making her the first hololive Indonesian member to reach this milestone and the 33rd hololive member overall.
On 15 April, she, Risu and Iofifteen revealed plans for them to get their 3D models at some point in 2021.[15] On the same day, Moona reached 600,000 YouTube subscribers.[16]
On 6 June, she reached 700,000 YouTube subscribers during a stream.[17]
On 8 August, Moona reached 800,000 YouTube subscribers.[18]
On 15 August, during their AREA 15 segment, Iofi announced that hololive ID 1st gen member would receive their third 2D costumes soon.[19]
On 22 October, Moona debuted her third 2D model, in this costume Moona uses a bob hairstyle, Moona uses a earring on her right ear. Moona wears a black shocker and a white t-shirt with her name written the letters "o" are stylized to look like a moon eclipsing the sun, the t-shirt leaves her midriff exposed. Moona also wears tight black pants with a brown belt with big golden buttons to the sides of her calfs and black and blue shoes. This outfit is complemented with a blue blazer, with the edges of the neck of it being golden, the blazer also has big golden buttons identical to the ones in her pants, Moona can also use glasses and her nails are painted blue.[20]
On 30 October, Moona reached 900,000 YouTube subscribers.
On 14 November, hololive's Twitter account announced that the 3D debuts for hololive Indonesia's first generation would be postponed for the rest of the year due to the unpredictable situation with the COVID-19 pandemic.[21]
2022
On 15 February, she released her second original song "High Tide."
On 22 February, Moona became the 24th hololive member to reach 1,000,000 YouTube subscribers and the first one of the Indonesian branch to do so. This also makes her the first Indonesian VTuber, and the first Southeast Asian VTuber to reach the milestone.[22]
On 19 March, Moona debuted her 3D model during "hololive 3rd fes. Link Your Wish" day 1.[23]
On 26 March, Moona announced that she would be taking a break from streaming after getting sick with COVID-19.[24][25]
On 15 April, Moona, Risu, and Iofi released their new original song "HI-15."
On 6 May, her Twitter account got verified. She was the first member of hololive Indonesia's first generation to get verified on Twitter.[26]
On 10 September, during an AREA15 stream, it was announced that all members of hololive Indonesia's first generation would have a relay of 3D model showcase streams, to officially debut their 3D models on their channels.[27]
On 16 September, she held a stream showcasing her 3D model, she also revealed a new original song "Perisai Jitu." A short music video was uploaded after the stream.[28]
On 15 October, hololive Indonesia's Twitter account announced that hololive Indonesia 1st gen members would get their fourth 2D costume.[29][30]
On 27 October, Moona debuted her fourth 2D costume. Moona received a new hairstyle similar to her main one however it is more loose and have pink and yellow lights in her front lock and a cowlick, she uses a pixelated waning crescent moon hairpin with four yellow stars around it. She wears a black top with a purple see through jacket with a starry sky pattern. Moona has a black plaid pattern mini skirt with an opening on the left side with black fabric decorated with stars, straps and a chain. Moona wears fish nets and long dark boots. She can also wear a black facemask with a pointy teeth print on it. She can raise her right hand to hold a microphone or a glass of "MOONATEA."[31]
On 4 November, during her 1.23 million subscriber celebration, Moona debuted a potato accessory and a new hair style for her third 2D costume.[32]
On 25 November, she released full music video of the third original song "Perisai Jitu."
2023
On 3 February, Moona debuted her fifth 2D costume, a kimono to celebrate the new year. Moona received two new hairstyles using really long loose hair with braided locks to the sides, in the other one she uses her hair as a bun with golden hair sticks. She has a purple waxing crescent moon on her forehead. Moona wears a dark blue kimono that gradients to light blue near the bottom where a lot of stars are printed with a matching obi. The kimono has a high cut to the right side exposing her leg. The edges are black and ruffly. The sleeves are long and are decorated with a full moon scenery.[33][34]
On 19 March, Moona debuted her 3D idol costume during hololive 4th fes. "Our Bright Parade" DAY2.[35]
On 1 April, Moona debuted a new 2D model, featuring herself as a child.[36]
On 11 April, Moona held her third year anniversary.[37] During the stream, she released her fourth original song "Who's Toxic ? It's You!."
On 1 July, as part of the "hololive Summer 2023" event, Moona debuted her 3D yukata. These are the same designs that Japanese members debuted the previous year.[38]
On 27 August, as part of the "hololive Summer 2023" event, Moona debuted her 3D swimsuit during "hololive Summer 2023 Splash Party!" DAY 1 Sunshine stream on hololive's YouTube channel. The 2023 swimsuits are inspired in a sailor uniform. Members wear a two layered swimsuit, the first layer is blue from the straps going down diagonally to the center where each member has a mostly blue bow but one of the sides and the brooch are in one color representative of each member. The rest of the top is white. The edge has a semi circular cut. The lower piece of the first layer has two variants, one is a two layered blue skirt decorated with a white belt, a golden chain with some decorations hanging from it and a bow to the left and planks to the right. The second version is mostly the same but they wear blue shorts instead of a mini skirt. Moona uses the shorts. The second layer of the outfit is a matching striped bikini in white and another color depending on the member.[39]
2024
On 6 January, Moona released her fifth original song "Taut Hati" and her first EP "ORBITURE."[40]
On 13 January, Moona released a 3.0 update for her main 2D model, adding new expressions and effects such as heart eyes, sparkling eyes, winking, tongue sticking out. Her model's movements are also smoother. She can also use a mouse, keyboard, gamepad, and pen pad without using extension accessories.[41]
On 16 January, hololive Indonesia's Twitter account announced that Moona would go on a short hiatus from streaming.[42]
On 11 April, as a part of hololive Indonesia first generation fourth anniversary, Moona debuted her sixth 2D costume. The outfit match the themes and colors of the other members forming an idol-like unit outfit. Moona has long loose hair with yellow and light blue lights, her side bags fall from the top to the sides, her hair is decorated with various golden star shaped hairpins. Moona wears a dark blue crop top, complemented with a black cape with hits of blue, both decorated with golden ornaments and a big blue striped ribbon. Her skirt is multilayered with asymmetrical edges and golden four star golden shaped ornaments. Moona has black asymmetrical socks. She uses black strap shoes with decorative pearls. Moona can also hold a microphone with a purple top. She also debuted her sixth original song "DEJAVU."[43]
On 3 June, Moona debuted construction uniform themed accessories for her third 2D costume, including helmet, safety jacket, name tag, and a construction blueprint.[44]
On 11 August, the 3D model of her chibi model was debuted during ep.273 of the short anime 3D holo no graffiti.[45]
On 17 August, hololive Indonesia members debuted their 3D school uniforms and released their new branch's original song "Senandung Jiwa." The costume has two versions: one is a white T-shirt with a striped tie, and the other is a brown T-shirt decorated with traditional Indonesian motifs and a gray tie like the skirt color. Each member has accessories, including a distinct colored Varsity jacket and a school bag.[46]
On 11 November, Moona released her seventh original song "Multiverse."
On 9 December, Moona released her eighth original song "Nightmare."
2025
On 15 February, during her birthday, Moona released her first solo album "PANDORA."[47]
On 8 March, she debuted her hololive 6th fes. Color Rise Harmony 3D idol costume during the event's day 1 STAGE 1. The costume has some variants, it can be black or white, complemented with a color representative of the talent. The midriff can be covered or not. One has variant has a skirt while the other uses pants, with one leg exposed. Aside for the design featured in promotional material, the costume also includes a short jacket.[48]
On 11 April, Moona debuted her seventh 2D costume, her costume is themed around a goddess, she is The Sky. Moona has long, wavy hair with black lights with her bangs partially covering her left eye. Her hair has an ornament similar to a tiara to the side, her hair has various star-shaped hairpins. When she uses her goddess powers her eyes glow yellow and the lower portion of her hair too, becoming the dominant color. Moona wears a shoulderless, high collar, black dress, with transparencies in the top. Her skirt is wavy and is way longer in the back than in the front with a inner yellow, it has golden lines. Moona has crystal like heels. She can also wear a cape with a matching design, and hold a magic ball, floating above her hand. Moona also released the music video for her original song "Lasting Freedom."[49]
On 28 November, she debuted a new jacket and a new twintail hairstyle for her fourth 2D costume. She can also remove her jacket.[50]

- On 8 July 2021, Comic Frontier's Twitter account announced that every hololive Indonesia member would appear in "Comifuro Virtual," Moona would held a live concert.[51]
- On 16 July 2022, Crunchyroll Expo's Twitter account announced that Moona and other members of hololive Indonesia would appear at "Crunchyroll Expo 2022," which would be held from 5-7 August 2022.[52]

- On 20 September 2022, hololive's Japanese Twitter account announced that she alongside Shirakami Fubuki, Ookami Mio, Inugami Korone, Nekomata Okayu, Usada Pekora, Houshou Marine, Ayunda Risu, Watson Amelia and Gawr Gura's hats and outfits would appear on the game "Among Us" and can be obtained purchasing the hololive production Cosmicube. - On 10 November 2022, it was announced that a collaboration between hololive and the Post Office Product Sales Service Co. , Ltd. featured Usada Pekora, Shiranui Flare, Shirogane Noel, Houshou Marine, Tokoyami Towa, Takanashi Kiara, Moona Hoshinova, and Shishiro Botan in new year's postcards and some merchandise including: clear files, tapestries, standees, face towels, jigsaw puzzle, T-shirts, and happi. - Her fanbase is called "Moonafic." "Munafik" means "hypocrite" in Indonesian; according to Moona herself, this was intentional. In reality, the term "Moonafic" stands for "Moona Fanatic."
- The name was chosen by Twitter poll on 8 April 2020, "Moonafic" won with 50.5% of the votes. The other options were "Moonarian," "MoonaSphere," and "Moonathic."
- On 14 February 2023, during her birthday countdown stream. Moona introduced her mascot "Moonabito." Moonabito looks like a small astronaut using a white suit decorated with the same ribbon and brooch that Moona uses in her main costume. His helmet has a dark blue visor where only his light blue eyes and mouth can be seen giving him also a robotic look. He can imitate Moona's facial expressions.[65]

Trivia
- Moona's last name of "Hoshinova" reflects her overall celestial theme. "Hoshi" (ホシ) is Japanese for "star," while nova, comes from the latin "novus" which means new, nova is also the English word for a star undergoing a massive, transient increase in brightness.
- In addition to Indonesian, Moona can speak English and a little Japanese and Russian.
- Moona has a small "moe fang," though it is barely visible.
- She has a notably large appetite; one time remarking on Twitter that she ate 12 large pieces of fried chicken in one sitting. Her Twitter also has food come up as a frequent topic in general.
- Moona is famous for having great construction abilities and is often praised by fans and fellow hololive members, this is one of the reasons that got her recruited by Usada Pekora for Usada Constructions.
- Moona had PC problems a few days before her debut which forced her to use a laptop instead.
- On her debut, she used mobile data to support her stream which caused an unstable connectivity. Amidst the lag, many viewers kept supporting and still enjoyed the stream. Unfortunately, her stream ended abruptly. A few days later she made an amusing apology video while stating some rules along the line.[66] Moona's connectivity problems during her debut stream led some fans to jokingly label her "Watame 2.0" (referencing the significant amount of connectivity issues Watame dealt with in her first month or so of steaming with hololive).
- At one point, she streamed from her car when she was forced to self-quarantine.
