Production and release

Pineapple was the first track on Takanashi Kiara's first album, Point of View. It was released digitally on 29 August 2023. Pre-orders for a physical CD release were available between 29 August 2023 and 2 October 2023, for delivery in November 2023. The album was announced at short notice during a HoloCure stream on 28 August 2023. Kiara teased the release by changing her Twitter name to include a pineapple emoji prior to the announcement.

Like her previous single DO U, recording on Pineapple was time-consuming due to the large number of backup vocals. It was the second song completed after Sleep Talking, with the final mix of both songs completed three or four months before the album's release. Kiara focused on promoting Pineapple and Sleep Talking for this reason.

The music video was released on 31 August 2023.
