【NIJISANJI EN DEBUT】BIRTH OF THE STRONGEST FAIRY 「LazuLight」
Pomu's debut stream.
Profile
A fairy who lived in a lush forest.
Supple like a flower in the breeze, cheerful and optimistic.[5]
Personality
Pomu is friendly, cheerful, and mischievous. She is a hardcore otaku who becomes very passionate when discussing her favorite topics, such as maid cafes or her favorite idols. She's not hesitant to fawn (or in some cases, perv out) over cute girls, including fellow Livers.
Her streams are known for fun, silly antics such as wotagei mix chants or spontaneous roleplaying, though she tends to react fiercely when slighted. Pomu enjoys roleplaying, and prefers games that allow her to fool around. Sometimes described as a "chaos fairy", she enjoys messing with her chat and finding ways to catch them off guard. At the same time, she tries to be considerate of her viewers and puts a lot of importance on showing her appreciation.
Overall, Pomu's a very hardworking and creative person who genuinely enjoys streaming. She always aims to provide a quality experience for her viewers, and can sometimes be a bit stubborn. However, she also gets anxious easily, and can be rather harsh on herself when her plans don't work out or she doesn't meet her own standards. She has a remarkable vocal range, but tends to downplay her own singing abilities and is more proud of her dancing. Though sometimes sassy toward fellow EN Livers on-stream, others have described Pomu as sweet, kind, and supportive behind the scenes.[6][7][8]
Appearance
Pomu has green wings on her back, a huge blue hairbow, sharp ears, and long blonde hair. Her eyes have a little reddish-pink color. She is wearing a green and white dress with half-puff sleeves in black and white, along with a pale orange and green leaf adorning her left shoulder. A red and orange flower brooch hangs in the middle of her breast. Additionally, she wears a brown and black bag on her right hip. She has a green vine that makes a heart shape on her left leg. Long black gloves that reach her sleeves are on her hands. She has black and light gray objects with cross shapes tied to her skirt. her shoes are black sandles. She wears a white beaded hair necklace that hangs from gold hairclips on either side of her hair, and a gold leaf hairclip on her right. Her ankles are adorned with green vines, and her shoes are mostly black pointed shoes with a gold design.
Pomu now has two dual braids and a huge bow made of blue and white polka dots on the back of her head for her second costume. She also has a headband with ruffles in green and white. She's wearing a black and white maid dress now, with green seams along the edges, and a big blue bow tied to a blue checkered ribbon that hangs down to her back at her waist. In addition, she is wearing white thigh-high socks with turquoise seams on top. Sandals in black are her footwear.
Her platinum blonde hair is pulled back into a side ponytail and secured with an aqua and white ribbon for her third dress. She has an aqua hairclip on her right bang and a black beret with a subtle aqua pattern on her head. She's dressed in a black crop top with green seams in a grunge style, matching shorts with a black belt, a black garter, and her right thigh. Pomu's jacket has the same black and green hues, and the top and bottom of her sleeves have pink patterns. Pomu also wears a black strap across her tummy and another over her right shoulder on the jacket. She's dressed in black knee-high boots.
Her hair is shorter and knotted in two pigtails with two shorter hairs on the back of her head for her fourth detective-themed dress. She also has a toggle where her hair is tied in two longer twintails. Pomu also has a green ribbon knotted over a gray checkered headwear. Trivia
Identity
- Pomu's species is Forest Fairy.[5]
- Her official color is #258E70.[3]
- In Japanese, her name is spelled in hiragana rather than katakana because she finds it cuter.
- In addition to English, she speaks some Japanese due to having lived abroad. She studies in her spare time to communicate better with Japanese viewers and Japanese Livers.
Lore
- According to Pomu's introduction video, she comes from Virtual Neverland. Because people don't believe in fairies anymore, she is losing her magic powers and had to become an OL (office lady). Looking for ways to restore belief in fairies, she did a lot of research on the Internet, which also turned her into a "cultured" fairy. After discovering anime and VTubers, she decided to become a VTuber herself, determined to become the world's strongest fairy and achieve world domination.[103]
- She comes from the Rainpuff clan, a powerful clan of fairies.
- She lives in a treehouse. It's implied that any time she appears to be streaming from somewhere not in the forest, she's actually still in the forest, but using a green screen or a cloth backdrop tied to two trees.
- She can use magic to grow from 9 cm (0'4") to 156 cm (5'1"), but her brain remains the same size.[104]
- There is a restaurant in her forest that she likes to go to because it has a heated bidet that she can sit on for warmth.
- She appears to have multiple, wiggly arms that can bend at extreme angles.[23]
- Initially, she would claim that the extra arms were just other Pomus assisting her,
- In VRChat and handcam streams, she can perform a hand trick in which she forms a wave with her hands. This is sometimes considered proof that the wiggly arms are canon.[105]
- Her WIXOSS card depicts her with numerous wiggly arms.
- She has the power to transform her wings, allowing her to fold them up, turn them into something else, or put them away completely.[106] In her maid outfit, her wings transform into green hair ribbons.
- She has a mole on her butt, which is the place where she was killed in a past life.
About fairies in general
- When she was a child, Pomu would play nasty tricks on others by making up stories to terrify them, sometimes as revenge for tricks that they played on her. She assures everyone that this is just a normal part of fairy culture.[107]
- Fairies are born from flowers, so 70% of a fairy's body is made of nectar, just like how 70% of a human's body is made of water.[108]
- Fairies count their age in flowers, with Pomu being "one flower old" at debut and gaining a petal each year.
- Most fairies are 13-14 cm (5-5½") tall, making Pomu short even by fairy standards.
- As a fairy, Pomu is particularly susceptible to being imprisoned in a glass jar.[109]
- The native language of fairies is not English, but rather "fairy-go" (as in "fairy語").[110]
- Fairies are capable of flight due to the size of their wings and their lightweight bones.[111]
- A "rainpuff" is a puff of air that forms when it rains. They tend to gather inside treehouses, and fairy children collect them.[112]
Alter egos
- Da Pomky, her artist alter ego. Has a mustache and a beret, and speaks with a French accent. Appears during certain drawing streams, usually during which he draws EN Livers with his eyes closed.
- Pomura Inpuff, her "onee-san" alter ego. Speaks in a deeper, more mature voice, and doesn't wear the ribbon or the hairpins. Also serves as the titular character of the Pomura Saga.
- Pomurai Npuff, her "otaku" alter ego. Speaks in a nasally, stereotypical weeaboo voice, wears swirly glasses, and sometimes wields a katana.
- The record-holder of Minecraft, an otherwise unaliased Pomu from an alternate timeline who played for 10 years in a single Minecraft Hardcore playthrough (which would surpass the actual record of 5 years). Unfortunately, the chat fell into a coma for all 10 years, during which the alternate Pomu grew a beard and was awarded a medal. Shortly after chat awoke, this Pomu was apparently assassinated by a nurse.[113] She was later said to have survived, and is now the CEO of S.C.A.M. with 10 million subscribers on her channel.
- Umop, another fairy from Pomu's forest who performed dances for Pomu's karaoke on one occasion. Typically associated with VRChat's 2A-7-0Q default avatar.[114]
- Censored Pomu, a cursed-looking Pomu who put on Reimu Endou's hat, causing her face to melt and taking on a red and black appearance. Similarly to the cursed Pomu seen in "Minecraft with Elira", Censored Pomu speaks using the goXLR's lowest pitch settings and is typically accompanied by an eerie BGM. She doesn't answer to the name Pomu, but has a membership emote labeled "CENSORED".
- Poom Guy: During Doom streams, she replaced Doom Guy with her own face on the in-game overlay, and called herself the "Poom Guy."
- Pomugar: During Pokemon streams, she featured a Gengar kigurumi over her model, and called herself as "Pomugar." Pomugar also appeared on Elira's ending screen for a brief time. Pomugar made a brief reappearance during Pomu's birthday stream, where she combined the Gengar kigurumi's hood with a gothic lolita dress.
- Frogbert: A charismatic anthropomorphic frog claiming to protect the rainforests while heavily implied to be burning it down. His goal is to get into Canada, but his green card keeps getting denied. His voice sounds suspiciously similar to a famous character. Originated from Pomu participating in the "NIJI EN Dating Show" using VRChat's frog avatar.
Inside jokes
- Pomufication/I'm Pomu!: Early on, Pomu's channel featured a pinned clip of her exclaiming "I'm Pomu!", immortalizing it as her catchphrase. Fans began to imitate the clip, joking that they, too, were Pomu. Later, in a Q&A marshmallow stream, Pomu suggested becoming a Pomudachi as a cure to "not-Pomuism", reasoning that since "Pomudachi" contains "Pomu", all Pomudachis are, to a slight extent, Pomu.[97] The details vary, but the process of turning into a Pomu is called "Pomufication."
- Big PP Energy: Pomu proclaimed herself to have the biggest PP energy at debut, with PP standing for "Powerful Pomu", "Pomu Power", or "Pomie Pom". Pomu ends her streams with "OtsuPP", and her days off from streaming are labeled "PP energy restoration." The happiness that viewers receive from Pomu's streams may also be called PP energy.
- S.C.A.M.: Pomu claims to own a company whose name can be abbreviated as S.C.A.M. She insists that the name should be spelled out rather than read as an acronym. The full name of this company varies depending on her mood, but can mean "Super Cool Absolute Maniac", "Stocks Contracts Auction Market", or "Spaghetti Comes at Midnight."
- Rival-kun: She used to do long-distance running as a child, and had a rival who lived next door. Her rival would get up early at the same time as her to practice, and she was still mad at him for beating her in their races. After hearing this story, Finana and Elira, as well as Pomu's own viewers, would joke about Pomu and her rival being "tsundere" toward each other.[115][116] Due to Luca Kaneshiro having a similar rival story, he and Pomu were sometimes joked to be each other's rivals in early 2022.
- Sand Curse: When she was young, her family went on a trip to the desert, where they were warned not to touch the sacred sand, but her mother did so anyway. Pomu later suffered a severe eye affliction, and only recovered thanks to medicine from one of the local tribes. According to Pomu, her family has been cursed with bad luck ever since.[117]
- Time Glove: After running into some confusion with reading time zones, Pomu declared that she would abolish the current system of telling time, and that everyone would instead use their thumb and forefinger to tell the time based on the position of the sun. After realizing this failed to address the reason for time zones existing, she proposed giving everyone a special "time glove" that would tell the exact time regardless of the user's location. Pomu later added a time glove to her membership emotes.
- NINISANI/2232: Pomu has mispelled "NIJISANJI" on multiple occasions, the most infamous of which was "Welcome to NINISANI" in a tweet to Rosemi Lovelock prior to the latter's debut. As a result, "NINISANI" (2232) is sometimes joked to be a knock-off brand of NIJISANJI (2434). Alternatively, "Ninisani" or "2232" may sometimes be used to refer to the NIJISANJI EN branch.
- Cowabunga! CHOO CHOO: A call-and-response in which Pomu exclaims "Cowabunga!" and the chat replies with "CHOO CHOO". This started with Pomu trying to play a trick on Selen and Elira by pretending it had been her catchphrase since debut.
- Longago: When Amamiya Kokoro joined her birthday totsumachi. Pomu mentioned how she had been at Amamiya's own birthday totsumachi "not long ago." Amamiya misheard the last two words as a single word, "longago", and asked Pomu repeatedly what "longago" meant. Since then, whenever the words "long ago" come up in stream, chat will type "longago."
- Pray to Ewiwa: During the "Minecraft with Elira" arc, Pomu added fan art of her praying to Elira in a summoning circle to her ending screen. This fan art later took on a different meaning when Pomu brought it out to bless her gacha rolls. Since then, Pomu now tells the chat to "pray to Ewiwa" whenever she rolls gacha on stream.

- Pomu's Minecraft addiction became an early running gag, as she would frequently play off-stream, even during her hiatus or during some meetings with staff.
- Though she isn't fond of stealth games, Metal Gear has become her favorite game series of all time. She regularly references the series in other streams or perceives Metal Gear references even when there are none. Pomu regularly encourages fellow Livers to try the series, and can be seen in their chats during Metal Gear streams. Her Metal Gear brainrot became especially notorious with fans after she purchased a Metal Gear Solid 3 pachislot machine for $1500.

- Hydrangeas are her favorite flowers.
Otaku interests
- She loves collecting otaku goods, and regularly browses AmiAmi for figurines and other merchandise.
- Pomu sometimes holds otaku collection/room review streams, with fans submitting pictures of their rooms or collections on Twitter with the hashtag "#PotakuCollection."
- She loves idols, and enjoys singing and dancing, but does not consider herself an idol and dislikes being labeled as one.
- Among VTuber fans, the kahen 3-ren wotagei mix ("Jinzo faiya! Faibo waipa!") is strongly associated with Pomu. However, she dislikes when people refer to it as the "Pomu mix" or the "DCL mix."
- Due to her love for maid cafes and idol concerts, she considers Akihabara a second home. On 22 July 2021, she did a "Tour of Akihabara" stream using Google Maps.[21]
- She has visited Japan many times, and loves talking about her visits.
- She went to high school in Japan briefly.[122]
- Before NIJISANJI, her last visit to Japan was at the end of 2019, just before the pandemic.
- Though she was unable to attend NIJIFes 2022, Japan's borders opened soon after, allowing Pomu to visit from 11 Oct to 21 Oct, during which she met with Selen, Rosemi, and Petra.
- From 12 Nov to 5 Dec, she was in Japan again, this time with Elira and Finana to record their 3D reveals.
- She is generally regarded as a maid cafe expert, and has gotten other EN Livers addicted to maid cafes.
Pomusuke
- While not strictly a mascot, Pomu frequently references her pet cat Pomusuke during streams. She usually refers to him as a "stinky boi," which she says has less to do with how he smells and is more due to his "stinky personality."
- Pomusuke has a tendency to sleep in Pomu's bed, and Pomu sometimes wakes up to find him sleeping on top of her.
- She named her first cat in Minecraft after Pomusuke. At the time, her first house in Minecraft was a boat, and the in-game Pomusuke unfortunately drowned while trying to get aboard.
- She gives Pomusuke a British accent while talking for him.[123]
- Her membership emotes include a Pomusuke emote.
- On 25 August, Pomu did a Pomusuke cam stream.[124]
Creative streams
- The "Minecraft with Elira" arc is a series of events that show Pomu going insane from desperation to play Minecraft with Elira. It is inspired by ARG content, though Pomu does not consider it a true ARG.
- On 14 July 2021, Elira was playing Minecraft while Pomu was stuck at work. Pomu started spamming Elira's chat, begging to play Minecraft together while also apologizing for being unable to play Minecraft together, until Elira timed her out.
- Minecraft with Elira: On 15 July, Pomu had a Minecraft stream titled "Minecraft with Elira", despite the fact that Elira had a Henry Stickmin stream starting an hour earlier. Pomu's thumbnail changed to a series of increasingly creepy images, including distorted versions of Elira's thumbnail. At the start of Elira's Henry Stickmin stream, Pomu tried to hijack the stream and pull Elira into Minecraft, but failed. Dejected, she played Minecraft alone as scheduled, Multiple jumpscares occured during Pomu's Minecraft stream, including sudden closeups of Pomu's face, the screen turning black and red, and a creepy BGM. In-game, Pomu placed a row of signs in Elira's room, begging her to play Minecraft together. Later, when reading donations, Pomu called out some of her regular viewers, saying she recognized their names. She read the remaining donations with "I remember you", and ended by vowing to remember everyone after a thousand years.
- This was still primarily a Minecraft stream, but it served as a precursor to many of Pomu's later creative streams.
- This stream was featured in the 2021-2022 NIJISANJI Archive.
- My Date With Elira Pendora: On 9 February, Pomu was anticipating a date with Elira, but overslept. On waking up, Pomu panicked and quickly tried on various outfits and makeup. When picking her hairstyle, however, she put on an Elira wig and began calling herself Elira, now anticipating a date with Pomu. A second Pomu arrived at "Elira's" house soon after. For their date, "Elira" and Pomu played Minecraft, telling each other how much they loved stacking blocks and digging for diamonds together. Later, while "Elira" waited for Pomu to come back from the bathroom, she heard someone at the front door (implied to be the real Elira) and went to check. The screen cut to black, and the stream ended with Pomu whispering "I remember" over and over.
- During the stream, the thumbnail temporarily changed to a black-and-red picture of Pomu with the caption "SHE CAME BACK TO ME".
- When Pomu puts on Elira's hair, two voices can be heard reciting the original "Minecraft with Elira" copypasta, with one using a voice changer and begging Pomu instead.
- In the final scene, Elira's opening BGM can be faintly heard, and the shadow on the door appears to be Elira's.
- The real Elira was on break at the time, but tweeted about how nervous she was for her date and thanked Pomu for the date afterwards.
- The "Pomura Saga" is a story arc mostly told through interactive, CYOA-like streams. It is set in an world that has undergone complete Pomufication.
- Pomura Inpuff: On 23 August, Pomura went on a blind date with the chat (personified as "Pomudachi Chad"). When asked if she was actually Pomu, Pomura evaded the question, saying, "Of course, we're all Pomu." Later, the chat suggested they rob a bank. Pomura took them to her apartment, where she explained that Pomu had taken over the world and turned everyone into Pomu. Pomura was originally a normal person subjected to Pomufication, but broke free from her brainwashing and joined the resistance against Pomu. She and a de-Pomufied chat tried to rob the bank while the resistance stormed S.C.A.M. headquarters, but they were both captured by the real Pomu and re-Pomufied. This stream ended with the line, "There will never be a Pomura takeover."[125]
- Before the stream, Pomu asked her fans to write "I'm Pomu" and send her pictures. These pictures were used during Pomura's brainwashing.
- Pomu Goes to Court: On 16 December, Pomu was put on trial (by other Pomus) for various antics in the past few months, with the chat serving as Pomu's lawyer in a similar fashion to the Ace Attorney series. Toward the end, Pomu was questioned about Pomura's whereabouts, but the trial was interrupted by the courthouse catching fire. While everyone else evacuated, the defendant Pomu gave chat a photo of Pomura's apartment, revealing that she herself had been turned into a new Pomura by the resistance. Pomura vowed to overthrow Pomu and counteract Pomufication by filling the world with Pomura instead. The story ended with a brief, glitchy transmission from Pomura, followed by a heartfelt letter from Pomu to her fans, ending with the line, "Pomura will take over."[126]
- Nina made a brief appearance as the judge, but left soon after the trial started.
- Various clips played at the beginning, including Pomu listing her crimes during hiatus and shooting Da Pomky during her apology, pushing Pikamee to her death in the Crab Game lobby, malding at Finana in Crab Game, killing her own parrot in Minecraft, and accidentally moaning "gimme my egg" during Mario Kart.
- During the trial, the prosecution brought in testimonies from other EN Livers, including Millie, Finana, Enna, Rosemi, Selen, and Nina.
- April Fools: On April Fools 2022, Pomu's Twitter icon and name changed to Pomura Inpuff of NINISANI EN. Pomura also took over Pomu's channel, playing Metal Gear Solid in Pomu's place. After beating Vulcan Raven, Pomura was surrounded by Pomu police and shot while trying to flee. The real Pomu arrived afterwards and continued playing normally.[127]
- This was mostly a Metal Gear Solid stream, but is considered part of the Pomura Saga.
- S.C.A.M. TRAINING VIDEO: On 3 March 2023, a training video for new S.C.A.M. employees was released, voiced by Pomura. The first part was an overview of S.C.A.M.'s history and operations, but glitched when identifying Pomu Rainpuff as the founder, and one slide featured a stock photo with the actors' faces replaced by Pomura's. This was followed by training exercises, which actually contained instructions on how to "exterminate and dispose" of Pomu Rainpuff. The next part, titled "Disposing of Pomu Rainpuffs", was interrupted by a silhouette of Pomu, who revealed that Pomura had taken over S.C.A.M. and was now framing her for various crimes. She called for anyone listening to join her resistance against Pomura, effectively reversing their roles from previous episodes. The video ended by announcing Pomu's third outfit on 10 March, revealing it all to be an elaborate outfit teaser.
- According to Pomura, S.C.A.M. was founded by Pomu and owns every share of every major company in the world,
- Pomu addressed the chat as "soldier", possibly implying that her new outfit is based off Metal Gear or otherwise military-themed.
- #PomuGear: This was the reveal stream for Pomu's third outfit, expanding on the Pomura takeover from the previous video. Having rebranded S.C.A.M. as "Pomura Incorporated", Pomura ordered the military to eliminate all Pomus and issued a briefing that revealed a new Pomu type, "P-003", including footage of the new outfit's features. After Pomura's briefing, Pomu revealed her outfit in full, explaining that "P-003" was the resistance's new uniform. Her hair was dyed silver to disguise herself, since Pomura would expect Pomu to be blonde.
- When identifying Pomu's Pomudachi charm, Pomura described Pomudachis as the rebel forces' mascot and a "heinous creature", warning personnel not to look it in the eye.
- Other creative streams:
- Chat's Bizarre Valentine Adventure: On Valentine's Day, the chat attended a speed-dating event with help from Cupidmu. The five girls chat encountered were Fairy Pomu, Maid Pomu, Bunnygirl Pomu, Bigfoot Pomu, and Gyaru Pomu, with the latter three having endings and Bunnygirl Pomu's ending being the canon one. After hooking the chat up with Bunnygirl Pomu, Cupidmu attempted to extort matchmaking fees from the chat, but was gunned down by law enforcement.
- This was intended to set up for Pomu's "Fukashigi no Carte" cover, which she was unable to release due to song permissions.
- This is also set in a world that has undergone complete Pomufication. It was originally said to not be part of the Pomura Saga, though it has since been added to the "Pomura Saga" playlist.
- NIJISANJI EN Under the Mistletoe: On Christmas Eve, chat was invited to the NIJISANJI EN company party, where Pomu the Red-Nosed Rainpuff had them try to kiss each Liver under a sprig of mistletoe. For each Liver, the chat could either ask where to kiss them, or spin a wheel for a chance at a kiss on the lips, with the Livers reacting in various ways to either type of kiss. The actual Pomu was not invited to the party, so the Red-Nosed Rainpuff offered a best-out-of-3 chance to kiss her, but chat lost.
- The locations for the guaranteed kisses, as well as all kiss reactions, were chosen by the actual Livers.
- Finana, Alban, Reimu, Ren, Mysta, and Vox didn't send their input in time, so the chat wasn't given the usual kiss options for them.
- All six members of XSOLEIL arrived as a single cursed abomination, as Pomu was unable to finish their reactions in time.
- #SherlockPoms: This was the reveal stream for Pomu's detective outfit, featuring her first three outfits as suspects brought in for questioning for a theft, with Frogbert and the chat serving as Detective Pomu's assistants. The first suspect, P-003, claimed the culprit had an eyepatch, prompting Maria to call in and explain that she was practicing dances in her room at the time. The second suspect, Maid Pomu, claimed the culprit had a rose in her hair and green tights, prompting Rosemi to call in as well. The third suspect, Fairy Pomu, claimed the culprit had overalls and hair covering one eye, prompting Elira to call in and explain that she was reading BL at the time. Having hit dead ends with all three, Detective Pomu released the suspects and returned to her office. At the end of the stream, she received a tape from Mysta, who left her with one final mystery to solve: the thief's calling card, a nonogram.[128] When solved, this nonogram would reveal a QR code leading to a waiting room for Selen's phantom thief outfit reveal.

- During streams of Metal Gear Solid, a very popular game with many plot twists, Pomu popularized the trend of asking chat to write a ":)" in chat whenever a spoiler-heavy section occurs, in order to flush out any possible spoilers and warn her not to look at chat.

Notes
- ↑ This makes LazuLight the first NIJISANJI Livers to achieve such high altitudes, though not the first VTubers to do so overall; Kaguya Luna reached an altitude of 30,000 meters in 2019.
- ↑ The longest stream in NIJISANJI overall is Gwelu Os Gar's 1 million subscriber endurance stream, which was 3158 hours, 54 minutes, and 23 seconds long, and ended when his PC failed.
