Project Kokonatsu (also known as Kokonatsu, PKoko, 5572, or プロジェクトココ夏) is a Philippines-based VTuber group focused on streaming and content creation on Twitch and YouTube. As of September 2024, the group has 11 active talents.
History[]
Origin[]
Project Kokonatsu was founded on December 2020, with NotMirai, Sen/Nezu, and Kamori Kokoa as the founding members. Before the idea of a VTuber group was established, the founding members were all previously fans and followers of retired PH VTuber Lyrica, and were regular viewers of her stream as well as active members in her community. Being inspired by her hard work and streaming career, Project Kokonatsu was formed.
Project Kokonatsu started out as a group of friends playing games together, with only one member serving as a talent at the time. They eventually started reaching out to people within Lyrica's community who were interested to join, namely Coronetto Kokoro and Tokai Tako.
2021[]
On February 28, 2021, the Project Kokonatsu Twitter account posted for the first time, showcasing a teaser image of their upcoming debut. [1]
On April 25, 2021, Project Kokonatsu made their debut, with a cover premiered on YouTube. [2] [3]
2022[]
On June 12, 2022, Project Kokonatsu revealed Sakurami Ruby as their new member, with a corresponding welcome announcement. [citation needed]
On October 1, 2022, Project Kokonatsu announced their attendance in Cosplay Mania 2022, a Philippine anime and cosplay convention in SMX Convention Center. [4]
On October 3, 2022, Project Kokonatsu posted a group photo with most members present as well as a banner containing illustrations of every Project Kokonatsu member and their signatures. [5]
On December 11, 2022, Project Kokonatsu celebrated their 2-year anniversary, presenting a live digital event on YouTube as well as an interview of all members. [6] [7]
On December 12, 2022, Project Kokonatsu revealed ChipsDelayt as their new member, with a corresponding welcome announcement. [8]
2024[]
On May 12, 2024, Hachimi, Aiminiku, and Marie were revealed as the newest members in an illustration by cat_rek69. [9]
On August 30, 2024, Marie released a collaboration video with Minute Burger, showing off a Genshin Impact-inspired story quest reel in a Kamisato Ayaka cosplay. [10]
On September 25, 2024, Marie announced her on-stage performance in Cosplay Mania 2024. [11]

Trivia[]
- The name Project Kokonatsu comes from the Japanese words "koko" meaning here and the Japanese word "natsu" meaning summer. When worded out, it sounds similar to "coconut," which inspired the logo.
- Project Kokonatsu went through a lot of names before settling with its current name. The name Project Kokonatsu was suggested by Sen.
- Most of the currently active talents and staff were part of Lyrica's community, with some even knowing her to a personal level and some collaborating with her at one point. Project Kokonatsu was founded 8 months before Lyrica graduated.
- The founding members Koa, Coro, and Tako were not VTubers pre-Lyrica graduation, and all went under different aliases at the time, excluding Coro.
- Before Mirai stepped up, the Project Kokonatsu CEO was Sen. He passed away on August 2023.
- Project Kokonatsu has a separate production agency named Natsu Productions, specializing in creating custom music video productions, video editing, visual designs, and sound mixing.
- The Project Kokonatsu logo was originally designed by Tako.
- The Project Kokonatsu Twitter account was originally a clan account dedicated to Apex Legends.
- In an interview video, a lot of members unanimously agreed that Project Kokonatsu is simply a group of friends playing games together, as opposed to an officially functioning corporate agency. [7]
- In a list of PH VTubers, Mei Miho was mistakenly listed as a member of Project Kokonatsu.
- As a result, she made a cameo in the Project Kokonatsu interview video. [7]
- Project Kokonatsu jokingly stated in a tweet that to join the group, you are required to pay $5,000.00 upfront in cash. [12]
- In TwitchCon 2023, a Project Kokonatsu doodle can be found in CDawgVA's art wall. [13]
- The members in the Project Kokonatsu 2023 Banner are arranged by canonical height, with Ruby being the shortest (5’3”) and Tako being the tallest (6’2”).
- In an internal interview, Choco Virus was warned by Mirai that the people inside Project Kokonatsu were unhinged, to which he did not listen to.
- Most of the known staff have some sort of creative background; for instance, Mirai has expertise in video editing, motion graphics, and music video production; Hebi is a professional sound engineer, audio mixer, and producer; Eysi specializes in server management as well as 3D modeling; and Plum is the group’s official artist, responsible for most of the illustrations found throughout Project Kokonatsu’s socials.
- In TwitchCon 2024, a Project Kokonatsu Lego build can be found in Brian Saviano's Blacklight Builds booth. [14]
- Despite being in Project Kokonatsu, most of the talents are not actually fond of coconut.
