REM Kanashibari is a female English Virtual YouTuber, a part of the VTuber agency V4Mirai. She is a member of the 3rd Generation "Lunalia" alongside Dr.NOVA(e), Alias Anono and Yumi the Witch. She debuted on 6 April.

REM has a pillow full of dreams, despite being a dream eating sleep paralysis demon! Stumbling her way through the human world, REM dreams to sing and share her voice with everyone in it! Enjoy her comfy company as she overcomes her greatest challenge yet - getting out of bed.

Appearance[]

REM has long dark blue hair that has lighter undertones with a hime cut in the front and a small pigtail on the right of her head. She has blue eyes with demon eye slits, a marking under her left eye, pointy ears with blue metallic earrings, and two blue Z shaped hair clips on the left of her bangs. She has a blue and white striped sleeping cap on her head with a yellow moon on its end. A little friend (named Honk) lies under her cap.

On 24 March 2024 REM made her first tweet, along with a teaser for her model.

On 28 March, REM posted her debut teaser.

She debuted on 6 April 2024.

On 3 August, REM debuted her 3D model. [1]

Mascots and Fans[]

REM's fans are called "Remmies".
The unofficial fan name of "Remmies" was "Remroïds" (the reason it was not chosen was, apparently based on REM, to difficult to spell)
Her mascot (who lives in her hair and eats dandraft) is called honk.

REM is British.
REM is a sleep paralysis demon whoms diet consist of human dreams (preferably ones without melatonin in them), as well as her ability to sing humans to sleep.
REM's personality type is INFJ.

Identity[]

Likes and Dislikes[]

She likes opossums, soup (budae jigae), vampires, spicy samyang fire noodles, iced coffee and iced beverages, unbranded chocolate, her childhood pillow, people with pretty or unique voices, and ring donuts.
She loves pigs in blankets, jacket potatoes (but it makes her sleepy).
She dislikes grocery shopping, talking to strangers, going outside, the UK, Tesco meal deals, loud sounds, filled donuts, eating vegetables, eating saussage rolls, chiken paste in a pot, beer (but would like to be able to like it), to touch grass and skeletons.
She doesn't like scary horror movies.^[1]
The animes she likes are Code Geass, Jojo's Bizzare Adventure, D.Gray Man, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, K Project, Vampire Princess Miyu, Attack on Titan, Kaguya-sama Love is War, Howl's Moving Castle, SPY X FAMILY, Bungou Stray Dogs, and The Apothecary Diaries.
- The animes she deems as "guilty pleasures" are Vampire Knight/vampire animes, My Happy Marriage, Shoujo/reverse harem, The Irregular at Magic High School, Re: Zero, animes with OP main characters, Akatsuki no Yona, Say I Love You, Wotakoi, and Darker Than Black.
The games she likes are Otome games (i.e Amnesia, Hakuouki), Neir Automata, League of Legends URF, Fortnite (sometimes...), and Roblox Paintball.

Character origins[]

REM's character's idea was inspired because the author behind the channel (person voicing the model) has her own sleep paralisis demond^[5]
- She claims that her demond (which is a woman) is way less pretty than her model
- She unlike in the game silent still, she has to wait out her sleep paralisis and does not know a way to escape it.
- Her sleep paralysis demond always tries to drag her out of bed.

REM^[6]: althoug not very clear when she talked about it, could mean: Rapid eye movement
Kanashibary^[7]: is a japanese term that is used for the state of paralysis that a person experiences as a premonitory condition when a supernatural being approaches.

Character backstory^[8][]

She lives in the country side with 15 siblings.
- She is the oldest of the lot, but it is a very strong labour force.
- She finds that being the oldest puts a lot of pressure on her, but she is used to it.
- She finds that 16 kids is quite a lot of children.
- However, based of the reference stream, we only know the name of 2:
  - Ram
    - is Rem's twin sister
    - is a little bit of tsudere
    - is shy but means well
    - likes the colour pink
    - has pink hair
    - is studying stem (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)^[9]
  - Rom
She uses the words papa and mama to refer to her parents.
- Her parents are:
  - farmers
  - doing well
  - have a very strong relationship
- She:
  - misses them
  - hasn't seen them in a long time
  - writes letters to keep in touch with them
She has to work very hard (as a maid, an air hostess, etc.) in order to support her family.
She appears to like Subaru, but he seems to like another girl; Rem feels like she's in a friendzone with him.
