In contrast to her melancholic lore and appearance, Reimu was a fairly upbeat and positive person who enjoyed making sassy remarks and frequently engaged in verbal banter. While often perceived as hot-blooded when interacting with her fellow Livers, she genuinely enjoyed their company.

Background[]
On 18 June 2021, NIJISANJI EN opened two sets of auditions, one of which was for an all-female wave of four.[4] Silhouettes of the new Livers' designs were shown, one of which was designated "Ghost of Darkness." The all-female auditions lasted until 11 July. YouTube channels for NIJISANJI EN's third wave were created on 14 September 2021, and their Twitter accounts were also created in September 2021.
On 5 October 2021, NIJISANJI EN announced the upcoming debut of its third group, "Ethyria," revealing a teaser featuring the new Livers' full designs and voices.[5]
Debut[]
Ethyria made their debuts on 9 October 2021 (JST) as part of a special debut program hosted on the NIJISANJI EN channel, with commentary provided by OBSYDIA. Reimu was the last of the group to debut.
Afterwards, all four members of Ethyria joined the main channel's special program to receive Obsydia's congratulations. Ethyria's first original song, "God sees all," premiered shortly after the program. This song was written and produced by ChibiNyan.
2021[]
On 19 December, Reimu's "First Step Goods" merchandise and Christmas 2021 voice pack went up for sale.
2022[]
On 8 January, she reached 100,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.[6]
On 19 January, she and Enna Alouette held a sponsored Princess Connect stream on Enna's channel as part of the game's 1st anniversary celebration.[7]
On 27 February, Ethyria's debut celebration voice packs went up for sale.[8]

On 21 November, Ethyria announced during a collab that they would be getting new costumes on 26-27 November (CST). Fans could submit predictions for Reimu's outfit on Twitter using the hashtag #GhostFit.[14]
On 26 November, Reimu revealed her new outfit, nicknamed "Queen of Hearts." Her outfit consists of a layered, frilly asymmetric dress with white roses and a skull pattern, long draping black and red sleeves, ribboned boots with the left one white and the right one black, and ash-colored gloves with long gold fingernails. She wears a long black veil, forget-me-not flower earrings, and a choker with a blue heart. Her ghost hat is replaced by a heart-shaped ribbon, her long hair is worn straight down, and the front of her hair is adorned with additional forget-me-not flowers. As a symbol of royalty, she also carries a long staff designed after a skeleton, featuring pelvis bones, a woven ribcage, a golden skull stylized like a heart, a tattered white veil, a halo, and a crown made of fingers. She is also able to hide her eyebags on this outfit. As part of her outfit reveal, she also released a new lore video depicting her backstory and death.[15] Later, new goods went up for sale to celebrate Ethyria's new outfits.[16]
2023[]
On 3 November, during Reimu's birthday stream, the unofficial group NijiUK created by Petra Gurin, Reimu, Enna and Millie since Fall 2021, announced that the group will become an official sub-unit in NIJISANJI EN and would be renamed as Zuttoღo (meaning forever friends in English).[17] This marks the first official sub-unit in NIJISANJI EN. All members will still continue in their original waves as Obsydia and Ethyria respectively. Alongside this announcement, they also announced that all members would get a third outfit, with each member being themed after different seasons.
2024[]
On 7 April, NIJISANJI announced that Ethyria would be getting 3D models, Reimu would be showcasing her 3D model on 4 May.[18]
On 4 May, Reimu debuted her 3D model. The debut included call-ins from NIJISANJI EN, NIJISANJI, hololive English, VSPO!, idol-ES, and HOLOSTARS members.[19]
On 12 July, Reimu and Petra Gurin released their original song, "What’s waiting for us", as part of the NIJISANJI EN project: ENcounter.
On 7 September, Reimu debuted her fourth outfit, which resembles a nightgown.[20]
2025[]
On 14 June, Reimu debuted her fifth outfit, which is inspired by Jirai Kei fashion.[21]
On 26 July, Reimu debuted her sixth outfit.[22]
Retirement[]
On 2 August, NIJISANJI EN announced that Reimu would be graduating on 17 August.[23]
On 17 August, Reimu held her graduation stream and retired.[24]

- On 22 November 2021, all members of LazuLight, OBSYDIA, and Ethyria participated in the "Ready! Get Set! Clash!" Mario Kart game show on the official NIJISANJI EN channel, with Reimu taking 5th place overall.
- On 18 March 2022, Reimu participated in the VSaikyou (VTuber最協決定戦, VTuber Saikyou Ketteisen) Season 4 Apex Legends tournament hosted by Shibuya HAL, as part of team "Misoshiru Toast" (みそしるトースト, Miso Soup Toast) together with Kurumi Noah and Ex Albio, with Sudetaki as coach.[25] Their team took 7th place in the overall ranking.
- On 13 July 2022, Reimu was announced at part of a collaboration with Animate Cafe running from 3 August to 30 August alongside Pomu Rainpuff, Selen Tatsuki, Ike Eveland, Shu Yamino, and Luca Kaneshiro.[26]
- On 11 November 2022, Family Mart announced a collaboration with Reimu, Selen, Ike, Elira Pendora, Mysta Rias, Vox Akuma, Sonny Brisko, and Alban Knox.[27] Beginning 15 November until 28 November, customers were eligible for a clear file featuring Reimu, Vox, Ike, and Sonny if they bought two jelly products. Files features handwritten messages by the members. A clear file featuring all four was also available if customers bought two snack products.[28][29]
- On 15 January 2023, Ethyria and LazuLight attended ANIME Impulse LA 2023 as guests, where they held meet & greet sessions and a live concert designated #HOPCONcert.[30][31][32]

- According to Reimu's Chapter 1 lore, after waking up as a ghost, she formed a pact with a mysterious, shadowy demon with round white eyes. The demon took up residence in her hat, but took away her memories.
- Forget-me-not flowers serve as a recurring motif.
- In Chapter 2, Reimu regains her lost memories. Raised by a loving Japanese family, she was hated and feared by strangers, and was violently drowned by an angry mob. In the present, Reimu obtains a magical skull staff, and is transformed into the queen of the underworld. The hat demon has known is shown in a more benevolent light, having watched over Reimu while she was alive and worrying what will become of Reimu with her newfound power.
