Production and release[]
Sparks was released on 6 July 2021. It was Kiara's third original single after HINOTORI and Heart Challenger.
On 29 December 2021, Kiara posted Sad Sparks, a downbeat cover of SPARKS which included a partial Japanese version of the lyrics. It was first performed live on 12 December 2021 during an outfit reveal stream.
On 21 January 2023, Cover released SPARKS （Midnight ver.）, a lo-fi remix of the original song, as part of the album hololive music studio - Midnight.
SPARKS was included in Kiara's first album, Point of View, released on 29 August 2023. The album's upcoming physical CD release includes the bonus track SPARKS Dark Remix, arranged by Kai Gojo, composer of HINOTORI. Mori Calliope spoke highly of the remix, saying "Bro, this is something I'd loop. Unironically slaps."
In 2023, Kiara described SPARKS as the song which elevated her music career and encouraged her to be more experimental in her music. It was her first single featuring English lyrics, making it accessible to an English-speaking market. She chose it to sing at hololive English 1st Concert Connect the World in July 2023.[1]
