Rael, also known by her screen name Saruei, is an independent Virtual YouTuber and illustrator based in France. Fluent in both English and French, she made her 2D debut on August 7, 2021.

In a dystopian version of Earth, World War 3 resulted in a Nuclear Winter, wiping out nearly eight billion people and leaving the survivors in doomsday bunkers. Emerging from this catastrophe, scientists discovered Dysonite, a powerful new material that sparked rapid technological advancements. Humanity rebuilt within The Citadel, a dome-protected metropolis governed by a totalitarian regime led by The Council. In this harsh society, genetically modified Synths, like Rael, were created for various roles, including military service.

Rael, born in a lab under New Horizon’s control, underwent rigorous training and brutal trials. After surviving a deadly team fight, she received cybernetic enhancements, transforming her into a formidable bounty hunter. Her unwavering loyalty to New Horizon shifted when she was sent on a time-travel mission to locate Zeta, the elusive leader of the resistance group Ground Zero. However, a malfunction sent her to an alternate timeline—our Earth.

Stranded in a world without the oppressive regime she knew, Rael adapted to her new surroundings. She found solace in video games, comic books, and anime, and began streaming under the alias "Saruei," creating a new life for herself. Her happiness was short-lived in 2023 as New Horizon eventually found and forcibly returned her to her original timeline, treating her as a traitor.

Zeta, having monitored Rael's transformation, orchestrated her rescue and revealed the truth: New Horizon's ultimate plan was to invade the peaceful alternate timeline Rael had grown to love. Faced with the potential destruction of her newfound friends and life, Rael joined Ground Zero to fight against New Horizon and The Council.

Personality[]

Rael is best known for her extremely straight-forward nature, always letting you know exactly what she thinks, and doesn't believe in saying nice things just for the sake of being nice. While she may come off as cold at times, deep down she really does care and wants her viewers and friends to be the best versions of themselves. Having been called a "tsundere" at times, she has coined a term "fuckudere" that she prefers. Trying to suck up to this VTuber with flattery probably wont end very well.

She is a self-proclaimed degenerate, and openly embraces her love for hentai and lewd art and loves to share her interests with her viewers - such as her favorite video games, music and shows. However, despite being lewd, she's often unexpectedly naive at times, though this may be due to her malfunctioning neuro-chip leaving her with incomplete English. She is an extremely hard worker and always has a project - or several - on the go, constantly working to improve her streams and art.

Her art streams are usually pretty chill, involving various art tips, talks about her life, and chatting with viewers while enjoying some good music. Her gaming streams are usually much more energetic and never a slow moment. Though she gets easily scared in horror games, she still keeps her wits about her enough to make jokes and comments that keep the chat laughing and hyped.

Appearance[]

Rael is a striking young woman with short, sleek ivory hair that frames her face, complemented by a braided strand on the left side of her head. Her captivating red eyes, framed by glasses, often glint with a smug expression. Her pale complexion and athletic build highlight her agility and strength. Cybernetic horns protrude from her head, and from her lower back extends a mechanical tail adorned with pink spikes, engineered for close-range combat.

Rael's attire features a futuristic, militarized design. She wears a sleek, form-fitting dark blue bodysuit with dark purple and pink highlights. The suit includes integrated cutouts and transparent brown sections that reveal glimpses of her skin. Her fingerless gloves extend from the long sleeves of the bodysuit, and sleek high-tech boots complete her look. Over the bodysuit, she dons a crop top jacket with a high collar and a hood, featuring armored shoulder guards. When pulled up, the hood covers her horns, giving her an appearance reminiscent of cat ears. The back of her suit is adorned with the Ground Zero logo. Straps and buckles form a harness-like structure across her chest and waist, complemented by a right thigh holster.

Background[]

Saruei's Twitter account was created on 19 March 2016, and her Twitch account was created on 27 April 2016. Prior to becoming a VTuber, Saruei did mostly art streams on her Twitch channel. She is known for drawing her favorite characters from games and anime in swimsuits or sexy poses, as well as VTubers.

Saruei officially confirmed her plans to debut as a VTuber on 26 June 2021 in a tweet where she showed off her VTuber model face.[1]

On 11 July 2021, she uploaded a video on Twitter, showing off more of her VTuber model and announcing her debut stream in early August on Twitch.[2]

On 7 August 2021, she debuted on Twitch with an introductory stream, peaking at 4,824 viewers. The debut stream included animated starting and ending screens with her own BGM for both, as well as a lore video.

2021[]

On 9 August, two days after debut, Saruei reached 1,000 subscribers, one of her debut goals.

Within 30 days of debut she reached over 5,000 subscribers.

On 20 November, she released her first ASMR video, followed by an ASMR live stream.

On 21 November, she revealed her first new outfit, a collar that replaced her cyber horns and tail with neko ears and tail.

On 11 December, she held her 3D debut.

On 19 December, she revealed her second new outfit, a Christmas sweater with reindeer antlers and a cute red nose.

2022[]

On 4 February, she hit 300k followers on Twitch.

On 12 February, she started up her Fansly account, which was met with great excitement.

On 14 February, Valentine's Day, she revealed her third outfit - dressed in multiple layers from a sexy red top, comfy off-the shoulder sweater with a rose brooch, and a stylish red winter coat and scarf.[3]

On 25 February, she revealed her fourth outfit, inspired in no small part by her love of Dark Souls and games like it and released just in time with the release of Elden Ring. It is an armored outfit complete with an optional cape and visor helmet that covers her eyes.[4]

On 5 March, she revealed her fifth outfit, which was basically a towel. This outfit was made specifically for Onsen streams.[5]

2023[]

On 28 April, Mythic Talent announced that Saruei had joined their content creator management company.[6] The same day, she held her Debut 2.0 stream, which reached 13,160 viewers at peak.

Fans[]

  • Her fanbase is officially called "Special Assault Team", with different ranks for her viewers depending on their status. Non-subs are called "Recruits", subscribers are called "Soldiers" and 6+ month subscribers are "Operators". However, they've come to be lovingly referred to as her "little frogs", and loves the widepeepoHappy emote.
  • She has a limited slot Patreon role that grants a Discord "VIP" role, giving priority to access to VRChat meetups and exclusive photoshoot packs.
  • Her Fansly subscribers are "Based Frogs".

  • Before becoming a VTuber herself, Saruei created one of Lilypichu's Live2D avatars.
