Raised overseas and fluent in English and studies at prestigious university. Stunning looking and always surrounded by girls, but despite the looks, he enjoys hobbies such as reading books, writing novels, watching movies and video games. Also likes to find new cocktails, however he isn’t the best at handling alcohol. Personal motto is “If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight”. Believes that flirting is the highest form of compliment.[5]

Personality[]

Kou is described as "a sadistic, intelligent and carnivorous man",[1] and is someone who is confident and sociable. He is very interactive and connected with his fans, and often makes flirtatious remarks at them.

He is very well-versed in western meme and internet culture, often referencing or quoting popular or even obscure memes or media, as well as making memes himself, and is even a fan of internet personalities such as Cr1TiKaL[6] and Internet Historian.[7]

He thinks that he doesn't act much like an "ikemen" or "be relatable for girls" like he's supposed to, most likely because of his humour and his tendency to always talk about video games and movies, which he pokes fun at himself for, and even making memes about it.[8][9][10]

Although he plays, Kou can be quite jumpy when playing horror games. When frightened, he has a tendency to scream 'nyaooooo!'

Background[]

Kou made his first tweet on 20 March, 2021.[11] On 27 March, 2021, he made a voice reveal, one in Japanese and one in English,[12][13] where he also announced his debut date. On the same day, he revealed his finalized art and reference sheet.[14] Eventually, the English version of his voice reveal from Twitter was uploaded to his YouTube channel on 30 March, 2021, and was also used as a YouTube advertisement.[15] He made his debut on 3 April, 2021.

Kou created his Twitch channel on 30 May[16] and had his first stream on the platform on 4 June.[17]

On 12 June, he announced the unveiling of his Live2D model,[18] which was held on 19 June.[19] On the same day, he opened up his membership feature.[20]

Retirement[]

On 3 December, 2021, it was announced that D-Prince! would be disbanding, with Kou retiring at the end of January 2022.[21] Kou held his last stream on 23 January, 2022.[22]

Fans[]

Although he previously said it as a joke and no longer refers to them as such, fans have agreed they are called "Taxpayers". Fans sometimes him call him Koukou or Nekou (though only when he uses his Chibi avatar with cat ears).

Trivia[]

  • The English version of Kou's profile intentionally[24] includes a reference to the Team Fortress 2 short Meet The Soldier.
  • He is currently university, and is studying politics.[25]
  • He was born in Tokyo, but has been raised in several countries throughout his life. He has been in so many that he lost count.[26]
  • Kou mostly uses Japanese in his daily life, but uses English during his studies, research, interviews, and when playing games with his foreign friends.[27]
  • He learned English by "adapting to it", rather than studying it.[28]
    • He has studied the basics when he was child, but to learn the language more, he took advantage of the fact he moved to several English-speaking countries and adapted to the way how people around him spoke.
  • He initially didn't use his Marshmallow account at first, because he prefers that people send tweets and directly interact with him.[29]
    • Eventually, he used his Marshmallow account for people to submit anonymous messages regarding serious topics for streams meant for counselling and consoling.[30]
  • Kou owns a cat.[31] He says that he cannot show him or share his name, but can assure that "he is the best boy".[32]
  • He has a female alter ego named Shiame Saya, who is also his older sister. Her name comes from a mistransliteration of Kou's name from Google Translate.[33][34] Saya was officially introduced in a stream where Kou played a horror game, where Saya stated that Kou was too much of a coward to play the game, and that she was going to fill in for him.[35] Since then, Saya sometimes makes cameos in Kou's streams.
