Selen Tatsuki (セレン 龍月) was a female English-language Virtual YouTuber affiliated with NIJISANJI EN's second-wave group "OBSYDIA" alongside Rosemi Lovelock and Petra Gurin.

Selen has an energetic, trickster-type personality. She loves to laugh and to make other people laugh. Selen enjoys messing with people, and is more likely to taunt others rather than brag about herself.
She is especially well-known for her high skill level in Apex Legends and Overwatch. She has a strong love for gaming in general, especially shooters and retro games.
While she often comes off as loud and chaotic, Selen also has a cute, wholesome side that becomes especially noticeable when drawing or making bentos, and has gained a reputation for "gap moe." She's very hardworking and often goes to great lengths to support her fellow EN Livers.

She has medium length purple pigtails with wings coming out and a blue and violet-pink eye.
History
Background
On 30 November 2020, NIJISANJI opened auditions for their new English branch, with the audition period lasting until 15 December.[4] YouTube channels for NIJISANJI EN's second wave were created on 8 July 2021, and their Twitter accounts were also created in July 2021.
NIJISANJI EN's second wave, OBSYDIA, was announced on 14 July 2021, accompanied by a short teaser with the new Livers' designs and voices.[5]
Debut
OBSYDIA began their activities on 18 July 2021 (JST) as part of a special debut program on the NIJISANJI English channel. Selen was the last of the group to debut, with commentary provided by Elira Pendora. Selen's debut stream featured an animated introductory video with remarkable audio production. Her debut was also particularly memorable due to featuring a joke schedule listing Apex Legends every day of the week.
Afterwards, all three members of OBSYDIA appeared on the main channel. OBSYDIA's first original song, "Black Out", was released shortly after the debut program. The song's composition and lyrics were written by TeddyLoid and the lyrics' story was made by Ryushen.[6]
2021
On 27 July, her YouTube channel was approved for monetization.
On 5 August, she reached 100,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.
On 14 September, she opened memberships on her YouTube channel.
On 17 September, OBSYDIA's debut celebration voice packs were made available for sale.[7]
On 16 December, she reached 200,000 subscribers on YouTube.
On 19 December, Selen's "First Step Goods" merchandise and Christmas 2021 voice pack went up for sale.
2022
On 1 January, Selen's New Year 2022 voice pack went up for sale.
On 25 February, she reached 250,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.[8]
On 15 March, Selen's White day 2022 voice pack went up for sale.[9]
On 4 April, she reached 300,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.
On 22 April, Selen's Sakura Bloom 2022 voice pack and goods went up for sale.[10][11] She was selected to be part of the key visual for this voicepack.
On 22 June, Selen reached 400,000 subscribers on her YouTube channel.[13] Selen celebrated this occasion with a giving a custom Selen Tatsuki Shimeji-ee/Desktop pet to her viewer she coded herself.[14]
On 2 July, Selen's Good night & Good morning 2022 voice pack went up for sale.[15] To commemorate this release, she commissioned an unofficial art to pair with the voicepack.[16]
On 28 July, Selen's Ocean Breeze 2022 voice pack went up for sale.[11]
On 16 August, she reached 500,000 subscribers on YouTube.[17]
On 20 August, OBSYDIA held a special announcement stream where they revealed that they would be getting new costumes. The costume debuts would be under the Twitter hashtag "#OBSYDIARunway" where the audience can also send in their outfit predictions. Her personal predictions hashtag was "#SelenLaundry". Selen's outfit reveal was set to happen on 29 August.[18][19][20]
On 30 August, she revealed her 2nd outfit, an airforce themed full dress uniform coat on a sleeveless pleated panel wrap shirtdress. In this outfit, she has a long high ponytail with a side fringe and glasses.[21] She would commemorate this reveal with an upgrade to her streaming assets and commissioning an unofficial wallpaper.[22]
On 31 August, Selen's Summer Vacation 2022 voice pack went up for sale.[23]To commemorate this release, she commissioned an unofficial art to pair with the voice pack.
On 1 September, Selen reached 500,000 followers on her Twitter account.[24]
On 21 September, it was announced that Selen would be featured in the NIJISANJI Petit goods series release.[25]
On 13 October, Selen's Halloween 2022 voice pack went up for sale.[26]
On 15 December, her YouTube channel hit 600,000 subscribers.
2023
On 5 January, Selen's "New Year 2023" goods went up for sale. The key visuals for this series featured the members of OBSYDIA and Ethyria. Merchandise included acrylic stands, kakejiku-style tapestries, hologram badges, acrylic plates, and random omamori.[27]
On 7 January, her Twitch channel hit 100,000 followers.
On 15 January, Selen's "Scolding" and "Pampering" voice packs went up for sale. She was selected for the "Scolding" key visual.[28]
On 7 February, Selen's Valentine 2023 voice pack went up for sale.[29]
On 1 April, Selen reached 700,000 subscriber on YouTube.
On 30 April, Selen revealed her 3rd outfit, an oversized bear hoodie with leather jacket with fur over it. In this outfit, she has a short layered bob with side bangs.[30]
On 10 May, NIJISANJI EN announced their 2nd anniversary merch, a scented solid candle of the Liver's choice in which Selen choose Osmanthus and Bergamot and a keychain
On 30 May, Selen's Aristrocat & Maid voice pack went up for sale, in which she was selected in "Maid" key visual.[31]
On 26 December JST, Selen uploaded a cover of LilyPichu's Last Cup of Coffee. However, later on the same day the video was privated.
On 27 December, Selen tweeted about getting hospitalised due to an accident and will be staying there for a few days under supervision. On 31 December, she followed up stating she was discharged from the hospital.
2024
On 11 January, NIJISANJI tweeted out that, due to unforeseen reasons, Selen Tatsuki would not be able to participate in any activities at ANIME Impulse Los Angeles 2024 on January 13th - 14th.[32]
No streams or other activity from Selen were noted during January. By the end of the month, fans noticed the lack of updates and would go on to enquire about her, leading to #WhereIsSelen to trend on Twitter.
Termination
On 5 February, shortly before 8 pm Japan Standard Time, ANYCOLOR released a statement announcing the termination of Selen Tatsuki's contract. Multiple reasons were given by ANYCOLOR concerning its decision. These include: "violations of activity rules", "repeated breaches of contract", and "misleading social media statements".
The statement noted that "Last Cup of Coffee" music video posted on Selen's YouTube channel was released without proper authorization for the elements in the music video. NIJISANJI states that permission from relevant parties was not obtained prior to the release of the video, and that this was communicated with Selen on the day of the video's release. It was eventually revealed in a later statement that the "Last Cup of Coffee" music video was taken down due to lack of permission to use imagery of ex-Livers, referring to appearances of graduated NIJISANJI EN Livers, Mysta Rias and Nina Kosaka.
In addition, NIJISANJI put forth that the statements made by Selen about the music video privatizations specifically regarding decisions made by management, and her encouragement for others to re-upload said music video, were in violation of ANYCOLOR's guidelines and damaged the reputation of both ANYCOLOR Inc. and NIJISANJI.
NIJISANJI also noted attempts to communicate with her and related parties (including emergency contacts) on 26 December, 2023 (JST) but were unable to resolve the situation due to her health (in her post on X/Twitter 27 December PST, Selen stated she was hospitalized, while her post on 31 December, she stated that she had just been released from the hospital), and NIJISANJI was unable to come to an agreement on how to proceed. It was then decided to revoke her access to various social media accounts under the name ‘Selen Tatsuki’, including the YouTube channel.
The announcement also notes that Selen had contacted ANYCOLOR via legal counsel regarding her inability to continue her activities under NIJISANJI EN due to ANYCOLOR management decisions and harassment from affiliated Livers.
Upon the termination, her YouTube membership would be closed and her social media accounts would be made private. Any sales of goods and voice contents would be gradually halt, while any merchandises made in 2023 featuring her might be released in the future.[33]
On 7 February, ANYCOLOR released a investor relations statement claiming that the decision to terminate Selen Tatsuki would have a negligible impact on their financial results.[34]
On 13 February, NIJISANJI EN Livers Elira Pendora, Vox Akuma and Ike Eveland released a joint statement about the situation. In the video statement, Elira claims that what they say on it are their own words and feelings, and that she volunteered her channel to be used for this announcement. The aforementioned Livers stated that the company received a confidental legal document from Selen's lawyer which allegedly contains: Selen's claimed experiences while she was working under ANYCOLOR, claims against selected Livers which all three considered as untrue and harmful, as well as their personal information. Vox, who stated he thoroughly reviewed the document sent by the Selen's lawyer, claimed that Selen had a history of not complying with protocols, as well as making claims in the document that damaged the company's reputation. It was also in the same stream that explains the reason of the "Last Cup of Coffee" music video was taken down, due to lack of permission to use imagery of ex-Livers.[35]
On the same day, in a follow up tweet from ANYCOLOR regarding both the aforementioned stream and Selen's termination notice, ANYCOLOR declared they had not made any confidentiality violations regarding the documents for legal claims, in that their Livers are not held to any confidentiality obligation regarding the information shared to them from ANYCOLOR Inc, and thus have no legal issues regarding the information shared to the public in the stream made by the Livers.[36]
Later that day, ANYCOLOR CEO Riku Tazumi released a statement addressing the controversy surrounding the investor relations statement. He clarified that the investor relations document was meant only for investors, but expressed regret for the wording used in the investor relations document. He also stated that Selen was integral to the growth of NIJISANJI EN and that it was unfortunate that the company's relationship with her ended the way it did.[37]
On 15 September, Selen participated on Shibuya Hal Custom #38 with Kanae and Qualia Qu as her teammates.
On 18 September, Selen participated in Apex Legends Reignite Cup #2 tournament as team "Actual Gold Player" along with Bonnivier Pranaja and Ban Hada. They took 8th place in overall ranking.[38] This team was the first team consisting of all members from all different branches of NIJISANJI.
On 15 September, all members of LazuLight and OBSYDIA participated in the "Meltdown" game show on the official NIJISANJI EN channel.[39]
On 22 November, all members of LazuLight, OBSYDIA, and Ethyria participated in the "Ready! Get Set! Clash!" Mario Kart game show on the official NIJISANJI EN channel, with Selen placing 6th on overall ranking.
On 23 November, Selen participated in Apex Legends Reignite Cup #3 tournament as team "fxxking girl's♡" alongside Qualia Qu and Mitwun. They took 12th place in overall ranking.[41]
2022
On 14 January, Selen participated in Apex Legends "OTK Apex Invitational" hosted by OTKNetwork with iPN and brucewayner.[42] They got last place in this tournament.
On 5 February, Selen participated in Apex Legends "Reignite Cup #4" tournament as team "Don't Kill Us" alongside Qualia Qu and Obly.[44] They took 14th place in overall ranking.
On 22 May, Selen was part of the merchandise collaboration with Otaku Culture Lab alongside Elira Pendora, Petra Gurin, Shu Yamino, Luca Kaneshiro, and Vox Akuma.[46] Limited-time goods included fans, wooden sake boxes, senjafuda stickers, wooden name tags, noren curtains, tenugui towels, and temperature-sensitive cups.
On 9 July, Selen was announced to be part of "Team Nui Sociere" for the annual "NIJISANJI Koshien" (にじさんじ甲子園2022 NIJISANJI Baseball Championship).[47]
On 13 July, Selen was announced at part of a collaboration with Animate Cafe running from 3 August to 30 August alongside Pomu Rainpuff, Reimu Endou, Ike Eveland, Shu Yamino, and Luca Kaneshiro.[48]
On 24 July, Selen was appointed to be an ambassador for Overwatch League (OWL) for the current Midseason Madness where she would co-stream the finals for that tournament.[49]
On 25 July, Selen was invited by iPN to participated in Post Malone's "Gaming for Love" charity series where she would participate during the Trevor Project event in collaboration with APEX LEGEND and Respawn Entertaiment where they raised $75,935 on that day.[50] In the main event she placed 2nd in a solo match and 3rd in a duo match with iPN on one of the map she played in.[51]
On 14 August, she participated in a promotion for "Punishing Gray Raven" during the release of Echo Aria alongside Finana.[52] She would promote this again on 24 October.
On 17 August, she participated in a promotion for "Tower of Fantasy" during their release alongside Luca, Alban, and Rosemi.[53]
On 4 September, it was announced that she would be featured in trading card for a NIJISANJI collaboration with WIXOSS alongside OBSYDIA and LAZULIGHT.[54]
On 16-17 September, she participated in PUBG "KZH Cup 2022". On the first day, she played alongside Bonnivier (replacing Ren) and Aster and got 7th place.[55] On the 2nd day, she played alongside Bonnivier (replaced Ren) and Azura Cecillia.[56]
On 11 September, she participated in a promotion for "Goddess of Victory: NIKKE" during its pre-release campaign alongside Scarle.[57]
On 25 September, she participated in a promotion for "Sonic Frontiers" during its pre-order campaign.[58]
On 16 October, she participated in "NIJISANJI Splatoon 3 Festival 2022" tournament hosted by Fuwa Minato and Furen E Lustario, alongside Reimu, Vox, and Luca, as team "Woomy".[62] No official placement was announced but she was placed at the bottom half of the ranking.[63]
On 16 October, Selen participated in Omega Strikers "Vienna Invitational" hosted by Vienna alongside Pomu and Rosemi. They played together using hotel wi-fi in Japan. They got 7th out of 8 teams.[64][65]
On 23 October, Selen participated in NIJISANJI Grand Sport day 2022 as team Shiina Yuika.[66] She was part of "Team White" and they won the tournament.
From 15 November until 28 November, Selen, Elira, Reimu, Ike, Vox, Mysta Rias, Sonny Brisko, and Alban Knox would be part of FAMILY MART collaboration where customers were eligible for clear files featuring Selen, Elira, Mysta, and Alban if they bought two snack products. Files features handwritten messages by the members. A clear file featuring all four was also available if customers bought two jelly products.[68][69][70]
On 3 December, Selen participated in the Apex Legends "Hide and Seek Invitational" tournament hosted by Disguised Toast alongside Dtto. and Babynikki, though Selen would only play one game with Restia substituting for her after.[72] She would get 7th place on this tournament.[73]
On 7 December, Selen participated in the Apex Legends "Master Cup #5" tournament hosted by gdolphn.
2023
On 22 January, Selen was announced to be part of NIJISANJI 3D AR Live concert "Colors" that would be hosted on the 8th April. She was further confirmed to performed on the "pastel stage" alongside the Lazulight, Obysdia, and Ethyria.[74] It was later confirm this event had been cancelled due to various circumstances.[75]
On 23 January, Selen hosted a NIJISANJI WWE 2K22 CPU Tournament named "Wrestlesanji 2023", in which Enna won a physical WWE parody belt as the champion.[76]
On 6 February, Selen was announced to participate in OffKai Expo 2023 which will be held on June 16, making it her first convention appearance announcement.[77]
On 21 February, Selen did a promotion for Honkai Impact 3rd during its 5th anniversary event.[78]
On 19 March, Selen participated in Anime Impulse 2023 in San Diego .[79]
On 21 March, Selen did a promotion for Raid: Shadow Legend during its 4th anniversary event.[80]
On 21 March, Selen was announced to be part of the IPSTAR|潮玩星球 cafe/theme store collaboration with NIJISANJI alongside Elira, and Enna in Shanghai, Nanjing, and Guangzhou.[81]
On 10 May, Selen hosted "#SelenCloset", a new outfit illustration contest in which fans gets to submit an original costume idea where the winning costume will be made as her 4th official costume.[90]
On 7 June, Japan Expo in Paris announced two panels with Nijisanji talents with one panel dedicated for JP talents and the other for EN talents. Selen was announced to participate in the EN panel along with Rosemi, Luca, Shu, Ike, and Vox.[91]
According to her introductory video, Selen is a highly decorated racer who also trains other dragons for racing. Although she usually wins first place, she's more interested in the thrill of the race itself and tends to discard her trophies afterwards.
Despite her appearance, Selen is half-human and half-dragon. Selen's mother is said to be a dragon, while her father is said to be a human.
Selen has the ability to shift between both her dragon and semi-human forms at will. However, she has trouble maintaining her human form, which is why one of her hands still has a draconic appearance.
She lives in a cave on a mountain.
Likes and dislikes
Likes: Bubble waffles, being awake at 3 in the morning, winning, green tea, cheese.[101]
She is also a pretty big Pokémon fan with Sylveon being her favorite Pokémon due to it having a ribbon as its flesh.[103] She is also into collecting a lot of Pokémon merchandise[104][105][106] although she still prefers Digimon over Pokémon.
She was a die hard Puella Magi Madoka Magica fan leading her to hunt/collect all Madoka Magica character figures ever released at one point spanning from a phone stand, keychain, to figurine.[107] Though she never played Magia Record nor read the spin off manga.
She was a fan of Hetalia: Axis Power to the point of naming characters in games based on the anime's character name.[108]
Selen had an affinity with mechas/robots which lead her mentioning that she is following transformer fanfictions such as IDW collection and collecting prints. Though she would casualy call herself a robosexual,[109][110]
She dislike acidic fruit in general such as pineapple. She would later add that she is allergic to strawberry.[111]
She is an avid fanfiction reader, which would lead her to keep bookmarks based on troupes on her favorites fanfiction which include BL (i.e. star wars, sherlock holmes).[112]
Weekly Apex collabs
Each week, Selen invites one or two special guests to an Apex Legends collab. These guests are well-known Apex players in their own right or at the very least play the game.
Generally, Selen tries to alternate between guests within NIJISANJI and from outside NIJISANJI each week.
In the video description for each collab, Selen also provides one or two emojis as a hint for the next week's guests.
To celebrate the start of 2022, Selen held a New Year's countdown in VRChat with Rosemi Lovelock and Pomu Rainpuff using unofficial chibi 3D models. During this stream, she revealed a special VRChat world themed after NIJISANJI EN and created under her direction, called the "NIJISANJI Express."[113]
During the month of January 2022, the NIJISANJI Express was made accessible to the public. Selen's, Pomu's, and Rosemi's chibi models were also made available for download.[114][115]
On 1 February, the last day that the NIJISANJI Express was accessible to the public, Selen and other EN Livers held an offstream "meet & greet" with fans on the NIJISANJI Express.[116]

Obsydia Crossing
To celebrate the Obsydia first anniversary, Selen revealed a special VRChat world based on the key visual from their debut named "Obsydia Crossing".[117] During this event they also did a live concert revealing their new cover "Virtual to Live" in which the whole current member of NIJISANJI EN came together and dance on stage, though she elaborate on scraping the current Virtual to Live music video due to it being rushed.[118]
It was announced that Obysdia Crossing was made public for a limited time during the first week of August 2022.[119]
Miscellaneous
Selen's manager calls her "Salad" due to the fact that her last name "Tatsuki" has similar pronunciation with tzatziki salad dressing.[120]
Dragoon originally refers to a type of soldier who moves on horseback but dismounts to fight.
Her first tweet was a drawing of all NIJISANJI Livers, from all branches, as dragons or their respective associated animals.[121]
Selen confirmed that her past rank in Apex Legends was Top 500 Predator, though she would reach it again as a NIJISANJI in 2023.[122]
She has once unironically dumped multiple diamonds into lava in Minecraft.
Selen knows a disturbing amount of animal facts, concerning in both numbers and subject matter.
Selen during Peppa Pig Stream
Selen's affiliation with "Peppa Pig" originated from a joke she made during her Halloween Special stream where she played a children's game due to her tendency of getting jumpscared during horror games. Although this started as a joke, she finished the game in one sitting and later played multiple children games[123] though the latter was less iconic.
Her NIJISANJI application was quite simple, consisting of a short recording in Windows Movie Maker and an application written in 30 minutes[124]
Her editing skills are extremely limited, basically consisting of "opening Windows Movie Maker and going chop chop", which is a reason why she had little confidence for getting into NIJISANJI but was encouraged by her friends and ultimately decided to do so.[124] After proceeding to the next phase of auditions, she researched NIJISANJI in depth to prepare for her interview (e.g., finding past interview questions).[125]
Ember, Selen's dog (2023)
She has an in real life black & tan dachshund dog, which is what her mascot ember correlates to.[126][127]
The length of Selen's neck has become a recurring joke among fans as well as fellow members of NIJISANJI EN. On 17 September 2021, Selen and Elira held a collab with "Dragon Duck Wars," a parody of Battleship featuring ships made out of Selen's and Elira's necks created by their respective fanbases.
Off-stream Apex Legends, while Selen Tatsuki was helping her friend to get Master she met and fought against the SSG players (Dropped, Frexs, Xenial), and came out on top killing both Dropped and Xenial by herself. At the time, Dropped was ranked 1, Frexs was ranked 6 & Xenial was ranked 15.
Selen wearing a bear hoodie is a recurring theme originated from her Minecraft collaboration with all Obsydia's member[128] due to her not having a custom skin. She picked a bear skin which she embraced, leading to customization/interpretation from fans to her wearing a bear hoodie.
Selen used to do choir (with choreography) when she was younger. She was also a theatre kid in middle school and performed in a production of Cats as the school's drama representative at a conference. She switched from performance to lighting and did the lighting for a production at a later conference.[129]
In the couple instances where Selen does karaoke streams, she often incorporates custom backgrounds and props that are related to the songs she sings. But due to the nature of the songs she chooses (oftentimes copyrighted English/Disney songs), they have to be unarchived/privated afterwards.
Despite being a dragon racer, she is noted to be a pretty poor pilot in games whenever she has to fly something.
Selen was the first NIJISANJI Liver to reach the top 500 leaderboards in Overwatch 2.

She used to be really into fan fiction, particularly Transformers fan fiction and is not ashamed to admit that she is into robots. She is particularly a fan of Starscream.[132]
