Shinna Faultline is a female Virtual YouTuber from Indonesia who is part of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) office in Gowa, South Sulawesi. She made her debut on July 24, 2024 and became a staff who presents educational content, which is generally related to Earthquakes, Lightning, Tsunamis, and Moon Observes for the BMKG Gowa Geophysics Station channel.

Shinna introduced herself as a staff member of a non-departmental government agency called BMKG Gowa. BMKG Gowa Station created its YouTube channel on April 11, 2017.[1] At this time, Shinna has not appeared. The initial videos on this channel have a type that is almost not much different from the central BMKG channel, revolving around education about natural disasters. In the period 2017 - 2024, this channel did not upload many videos. The BMKG Gowa Instagram account is also not much different, this is because each channel or account from a BMKG branch from another city must follow the direction of the central BMKG.[2]
The BMKG Gowa Instagram account then started uploading meme videos on April 27, 2024,[3] and uploaded another meme video on May 3, 2024 (May 5 on YouTube channel) featuring anime clips.[4] This shows that the BMKG Gowa administrator has a focus on things that have Japanese elements.
On 11 June, the BMKG Gowa Instagram account uploaded a video of complaints from viewers because the staff who fill the video content on this Instagram channel or account are always filled by men and they ask for women to fill the position. One of the comments on the video from the account miroslav_224 suggested using a VTuber character.[5] Finally, unexpectedly, Shinna then made her debut on July 24, 2024.[6] Shinna's emergence as a VTuber affiliated with a government agency has attracted the attention of various media outlets.[7]
