Shiori (栞栞/Kānkān) is a Chinese Virtual UP (bilibili content creator) affiliated with VirtuaReal, under VirtuaReal Project, as part of its eighteenth generation (aka 187) alongside Eve and Opal.

A cute sea otter was swept away by a huge wave while sleeping hand in hand with her pal one night. When she woke up again, she had turned human and lay on the beach. A little overwhelmed by her situation, she still walked into the human city instinctively, and ran into a staff member on a suburban street late at night, who had just finished working overtime. As the fifth cutest species in the world, Shiori instantly healed the tired soul of the staff with just a look in the eyes, who of course invited her to become a liver. After work, Shiori volunteers at the local aquarium. The sea otters there enjoy the presence of this strange-looking kin, as long as Shiori stops stealing their food.[1]

She has long blonde hair in low, thick pigtails with darker brown at the ends and an otter tail. She has an otter themed cap with shoes/slippers and blue eyes.

Debut[]
On 25 January 2023, the upcoming Livers were teased with an image of their silhouettes on VirtuaReal's bilibili and Twitter accounts.
On 26 January 2023, VirtuaReal officially announced their eighteenth generation of Virtual Livers, including Shiori, in an article accompanied by their designs and profiles. Shiori made her first dynamic and released her first video, a compilation of best shots in Apex Legends.
On 3 February 2023, Shiori debut as part of a debut relay of the eighteenth generation. She was the last in the relay.
2023[]
On 21-22 June, Shiori participated in VirtuaReal's VR-Cup Calabiyau tournament with teammates Mitsusa, Rhea, Kiyuu, and Eve.[2]
Relationships[]
- 18th Generation - Eve, Opal, and Shiori. They are debut-mates.
- Mayumi - They share a similar kind of high-pitch voice and love for Apex Legends. They played Apex together several times.[3]
- Kiyuu - They both love playing Apex Legends, and played together a few times.[4]
- Rei (from PSPlive) - They played Apex a few times. Rei is the first non-VirtuaReal VUP who has a collab with Eve and Shiori.[5]

Identity[]
- 栞 is a common Japanese name, but in Chinese it is very rare. Thus many didn't know how to pronounce her name at first glance. Her Chinese name Kānkān sounds like 看看 (have a look), and this becomes kind of meme-able.

Her fan-name is 獭獭栞 (Tàtàkàn). 獭 means otter and it is a pun on Japanese phrase 戦え (tatakae). The phrase is a meme popularized by the Attack on Titan anime.
Miscellaneous[]
- Similar to Mayumi, her pronunciation is sometimes hard to understand. In a mildly viral clip, Shiori said 鲨鱼辣椒 (Shāyú làjiāo, a character in the kid tokusatsu show B-Robo Kabutack) and Mayumi misheard it as 三人乱交 (sānrén luànjiāo, 3-person orgy).[7]
- Her staff is Bjergsen. She shares the staff with Mahiru, Rhea, and Azusa (previously).
