Sugar Stella, also referred to as SugaSte (しゅがすて) for short, was a virtual idol group. They have since rebranded as Drop Dead Dolls, a utaite group, but have ceased their VTuber activities.

2020[]
Sugar Stella was originally a part of Re:AcT. The group debuted on 26 July with a cover of the song NEWWORLD by SixTONES.[1]
On 30 September, Sugar Stella were transferred from Re:AcT, to their own office under mikai inc. (the company that manages Re:AcT), called STeLLa.[2][3]
2021[]
On 9 April, it was announced that Sugar Stella would disband and seperate from mikai inc. on 28 April, but that they would reform as a new group.[4][5]
On 25 April, they released their first and final original song, Shooting S.T.A.R!!.
On 29 April 2021, they reincarnated as the group Sugar Stellar, but referred to themselves as an "utaite group" (歌い手グループ) with no mentions of "virtual".[6] The members tweeted on their new accounts, greeting themselves, as well as stating a sense of familiarity with the viewer, asking if they have met before.[7][8][9][10][11] Sugar Stellar debuted on 1 May, 2021.[12]
However, the accounts of the Sugar Stellar members as well as the main group account had been wiped of all their tweets, and all of the videos have been made private on the group's YouTube channel.
On 18 May, a statement was released on Sugar Stella's website stating that there was a breach of contract and a violation of the agreement between the group and the company (mikai inc.) during Sugar Stella's disbanding, and that they would be preparing to take legal proceedings.[13]
On 23 May, a livestream was held on the Sugar Stellar regarding their activities,[14] and a tweet was also made on their Twitter account regarding the subject.[15] The tweet's statement stated that through consultations with their lawyers, they could not use their current group name as well as their designs.
On 1 June, Sugar Stellar's twitter account changed their handle to "@ddd_project", along with a new profile picture and banner.[16] The members' handles, profile pictures, and banners were also changed.[17][18][19][20][21] The YouTube channel's name was also changed "@ddd_project".
On 7 July, it was announced that the group would begin their activities on 11 July.[22] The group's name was revealed to be Drop Dead Dolls, who, like Sugar Stellar, are an utaite group rather than virtual.[23]
