Taiga Argyle is an English-speaking Canadian VTuber who debuted on Twitch on 27 April 2020. Taiga is an independent streamer and a member of the Twitch Team VShonen.

Personality[]

Taiga has a quick tongue and a sharp wit. He seamlessly plays games, interacts with chat, and responds with a quick quip all while taking things in stride. He's lighthearted and dedicated even when frustrated from several creeper deaths in Minecraft.

He describe himself as bratty, affectionate, energetic, and athletic.[2] Taiga has a habit of pranking friends or telling tall tales.

Taiga has a relaxed attitude to their own gender identity. Taiga's older official reference sheet described him as genderfluid.[2] Taiga's own chat bot on twitch describes their pronouns as "Taiga's pronouns are whichever you prefer!" with the !pronouns command. Other statements include "My gender is Taiga",[3] "Gender is dumb just be cute",[4] and "my pronouns are smol/pp".[5] Taiga also described themself as a femboy,[6] a term often used for male-identifying people who adopt a feminine aesthetic.

Taiga is known for their beautiful singing voice. They have many song covers on YouTube, and they also will spontaneously hold impromptu karaoke performances live on twitch.[7][8][9]

Taiga has a husky named Hayate who has made appearances on stream and in their videos. [10]

Taiga has several hyperfocus interests, most notable are Scooby-Doo and HunterxHunter, as they can discuss either of these topics in depth for hours.

Taiga has multiple models and appearances and is unpredictable when it comes to which they will appear as.

Angel Taiga: Angel Taiga is a human/angel style person with white hair, ear muffs, long white hair with bangs tied back in a hairband, and a golden halo. Angel Taiga has long white hair and crystal blue eyes. They have a bandage over their nose. They often wear earmuffs, a dark red cutoff sweater, jean shorts, thigh high socks, and white boots.[2]

Dog Taiga: Dog Taiga is a furry-style anthropomorphic dog person with white fur, long white hair held back in a hairband, and a golden halo. They wear a red sleeveless turtleneck crop-top. Taiga has a bandage on their right cheek and nose. They wear a golden pawprint-shaped necklace. They wears off-cut shorts and red thigh-high socks with a snow pattern, and has furry white cuffs with the same golden dog paw symbol.[11]

Tiger Taiga: Tiger Taiga is a Tiger neko with short white hair, Tiger ears and a Tiger Tail with white fur and black stripes. Tiger Taiga also has tiger stripes across their body, including two stripes on each cheek. They have a bandaid on their nose as well as two more in an X shape on their right cheek. They wear a red sleevless turtleneck croptop with open sides with a lace zig-zagging up the side. They have a black ribbon on their left arm and right leg, and have a longer stocking on their left leg and short sock on their right.

Background[]

Taiga's Twitch channel was created on 4 October 2018. They made a small number of streams in 2018 and 2019.

Taiga revealed their character model on Twitter on 25 April 2020.[12] They did not make any preparations for their debut stream until a few days before.[13]

Taiga made their Twitch debut on 27 April 2020, revealing a 3D model. They streamed for 10 hours and 24 minutes to a peak of 147 viewers, beginning with a Jackbox stream and playing Minecraft for most of that time.[14] Taiga was nervous before the stream, but was well-received and described it as a positive experience. They would later recommend to other VTubers to do a voice reveal before their debut.

2020[]

On 24 August, Taiga expressed interest in a Live2D model.[15]

In 2020, Taiga spent the most hours playing Minecraft, Skyrim, Subnautica, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. Just Chatting was their most popular event after Minecraft, a trend which would continue into 2021.

2021[]

On 27 February, Taiga announced a "2.0 debut" scheduled for their birthday on 28th May.[16]

On 27 April, Taiga revealed a new Live2D fursona avatar during a one-year anniversary stream. The old humanoid avatar continued to appear in stream art such as loading screens and animations.

On 28 May, for their 1,000th birthday, Taiga revealed a new humanoid model created by _Pudizuu, featuring white eyelashes.

On 7 August, Taiga reached 50,000 Twitch followers.

2023[]

On 9 January, Taiga's Twitch channel reached 100,000 followers.

2024[]

On 29 June, Taiga's YouTube silver play button arrived. The same day, YouTube deleted his YouTube account for unspecified terms of service violations. Taiga responded by tweeting "you aren't getting it back @YouTube."[17] His VOD channel was also deleted, as was third-party clip channel Taiga Sings.
