Unnämed (often referred to as 'U-san') is a Japanese-Korean English speaking streamer and singer-songwriter on YouTube, referring to themselves as a "musician with Live2D". They primarily focus on releasing original songs and covers. Occasionally, they stream on YouTube and do live spaces on their Twitter.
Personality[]
Unnämed is a singer with a powerful voice. Their vocal range is very wide, allowing them to hit angelic high notes as well as lower tones. Because of their love for rock music, they prefer to use chest voice to perform high notes as much as they can. Singing is their main hobby and passion, and they have a deep love for music and performing.
They are playful and can be loud, with streams featuring them screaming frequently. They are also an emotional person (as mentioned on a Twitter space) who puts a lot of feeling into their singing, as shown when they accidentally cried while singing 'Kokoronashi' on stream. Additionally, they are a kind and caring person with much appreciation for their fans, friends, and community.
Appearance[]
They have two versions of their 2D model, black and white, with blue and yellow eyes respectively. While not featured in their model, their reference sheet also includes designs for Mephistopheles, a dog-like demon featured in their lore video.[1]
History[]
Background[]
Originally, they were nameless.
On 18 December 2022 (JST), they streamed for the first time with nothing shown on stream. During the stream, they introduced themself as someone without a name yet, with no future plans but started streaming so their singing would reach out to the people they love. They proceeded to sing guitar rendition of songs, including 'The Beginning' by ONE OK ROCK and 'Kaen' by Queen Bee. Unnamed ended the stream by thanking the viewers and telling them to smile. The stream had 53k concurrent viewers and was unarchived. [2]
Since then, they would start Twitter Spaces randomly, only to be deleted afterwards.
On 5 February 2023, they released their first original 'Summer Song' along with their new name "Unnämed".
Unnämed would then continue to do unarchived livestreams and Twitter Spaces, only keeping VODs that they deemed good enough to keep.
Live2D Debut[]
Originally, their Live2D debut was scheduled on 28 May 2023 (10PM JST). However, due to video-editing issues, the stream was delayed to 29 May 2023 (12AM JST), two hours later than initially planned. Unnämed opened up a Twitter Space half an hour before the debut stream started, explaining the issue.[3]
During the stream, Unnämed revealed their first lore video and showcased their Live2D models and stream assets. They expressed their thanks to their fans for allowing them to return to the community and donations that made the Live2D debut possible. At the end of the stream, viewers were redirected to the premiere of their cover 'Watashi wa Saikyou' (I'm Invincible).
2nd Outfit[]
On 28 November, Unnämed organized an outfit prediction contest under the tag #U_rei_nightparade to commemorate their one year anniversary. The theme of their anniversary was 'Bojutsu yumemonogatari -Hyakkiyakou- / Dream of the Erde-Hund / Night Parade of 100 Demons'.
On 17 December, they did a countdown stream to midnight (JST) where they announced the winners for the contest, unveiled their new lore video and their anniversary outfit. The viewers were then redirected to their cover 'Kaen' after the stream ended.
On 18 December, they did an unarchived karaoke stream and announced the upcoming anniversary merchline.
3D Debut[]
On 25 February 2024, Unnämed and Shxtou debuted their 3D models and performed their first 3D concert 'Invincible Melody: Phase of Euphoria' together in Thailand.[4]
On 23 June 2024, Unnämed did their 3D showcase (#Untitled3DShowcase) featuring Lucien Lunaris, Zentreya, ORION, Michi Mochievee, Quinn Benet and Shoto as guest performers. During the showcase, they released a new lore video and announced their upcoming new merchandise collection and their one-man live tour to Hong Kong, Taipei and Tokyo.
2023[]
On 25 March, 'Summer Song' reached 1 million views.[5]
On 8 April, Unnämed reached 200,000 subscribers on their YouTube channel.[6]
On 3 June, Unnämed streamed their Lore-Based Live Concert: Erased. They also released their Live2D reveal merchandises. [7]
On 18 June, they released their second original song, 'Erased' in conjunction with their half-year anniversary.
On 17 July, their 'KICKBACK' cover reached 1 million views. [8]
On 6 August, they performed digital billboard mini concert in Shinjuku, Japan (Shinjuku Alta Vision) in conjunction with #Rootingfor_U project organized by fans[9]. On the same day, they released their third original song 'Flower'.
On 29 September, they released their Halloween merchandise collection .[10]
On 16 December, they performed a special mini concert at A8 ShinKong Mitsukoshi Xinyi LED wall, in conjunction with #BlueflämeslightUup project hosted by Taiwanese U-reis[11].
2024[]
On 7 January, Unnämed released their first anniversary merchandise. [12]
On 11 January, Unnämed and Dacapo's 'Odo' duet cover reached 2 million views.
On 18 January, Unnämed's interview with Dexerto was released.
On 3 February, 'Summer Song' reached 2 million views.
On 26 February (midnight JST), they released their fourth original song 'Memories of Mine'.
On 20 April, Unnämed announced their first collaboration cafe in Korea.
On 8 May, they released 'If I Can Stop One Heart Breaking' cover sponsored by Honkai Star Rail.
On 23 June, Unnämed announced their first one-man live tour 'Trails of Flame', featuring guest performers Dokibird (Hong Kong), Dacapo (Tokyo) and their guitarist, Mine. On 30 August, it was announced that Michi Mochievee joined as a special guest for the Taipei live. [13]
On 23 July, Unnämed opened pre-orders for their 3D model reveal merchandise collection on midnight Japan time.[14] Later that evening, Unnämed did a 3D karaoke stream to raise money for Save the Children charity and released their cover Villain at the end of it.
On 4 August, Unnämed began their Trails of Flame tour in Hong Kong. They then continued to perform in Taipei on 28 September and returned to Tokyo as their final tour destination on 4 October. A live-viewing happened in Korea on the same day as the Hong Kong live at V-square, Lotte Cinema's Konkuk University Entrance branch.[15]
On 17 October, they released their fifth original song 'Trails of Flame', featuring Merryweather reprising the role of Mephistopheles, and 700 people participating in the choir part.
On 29 November, Unnämed announced their Empress & Emperor Collection.

Fans[]
- Their fans are called "U-reis", a portmanteau of "U-san" and "yuurei" (幽霊), the Japanese word for ghost. This served as an unofficial fan name until it was confirmed on their debut stream.
- U-reis are often depicted as a blue flame spirit, similar to the Japanese representation of soul or the youkais onibi and hitodama.

Identity[]
- Unnämed's pronouns are they/them. [35]. When speaking in Japanese, they use the pronoun 'ore' (俺).
- Their theme color is blue, black and white.
- Unnämed is multilingual; English, Japanese, Korean and Thai, though they're not good at reading Hangul and Thai script confidently.
- Initially, Unnämed wanted to come up with a different name. After seeing the fans' supports in the #dear_u_san tag (which was also made by the fans) during their first hiatus, they decided to keep being 'U-san' so to not lose what the fans built up.
- They are introverted and do not go out very often, calling themselves a "shut-in". Whenever they need to meet someone, especially someone new or an online friend like Shxtou, they would practice going out to avoid getting panic attacks during the actual day. Most of these outings are illustrated on their Instagram account.
- In an unarchived stream in which they shared the results of a DNA test, they stated that they are lactose intolerant. Despite this, they have said that they will continue to consume milkshakes and ice cream.
- They used to be in a band. Two of their band members, Mine and Alex, have done the instrumental parts for most of Unnämed's covers. They are featured as characters in the lore video too.
- Mine, the guitarist, also makes a cameo in the original song 'Memories of Mine'.
- During an unarchived Twitter Space and in Dexerto interview, U-san stated that they initially wanted to cease all activities by the end of 2023, since they originally planned to 'disappear' back in December 2022. However, after the 3D concert postponed to February 2024, and the continuous support they've received from fans and friends, U-san decided to keep going.
- Unnämed has a physical disability on their right leg due to childhood trauma. They are unable to move their ankle normally and has fractured their leg twice in the past.[36]
Live2D & Lore[]
- Unnämed's lore is inspired by their past experiences.
- Mephistopheles, the demon from their lore video, is based on two things; Unnämed's nightmare, and their pet dog that passed away years prior.
- In their second lore video, it was revealed that the name 'Mephistopheles' was a name given to the demon by Unnämed's past incarnation, and it was taken from the book Faust. Faust is also Unnämed's favourite book growing up.
- Mephistopheles has also met different Unnämeds across different worlds and timelines, fascinated by their soul and demise in every iterations.
- On their Live2D merchandise, 'Strange Soul SINCE 1218' was written on the guitar pick keychain. '1218' refers to the date of their first livestream (18 December, 2022). [37]
- Unnämed associates themselves with the Full Moon and New Moon phases, as most activities are done around those dates. Their debut stream background includes a moon phases floorpiece.[38]
- After their Shinunoga E-wa cover was released, fans nicknamed Unnämed's different versions U-kuro (black-haired) and U-shiro (white-haired). On June, during the Live2D merch drop, Unnämed named the models New Moon (black ver.) and Full Moon (white ver.) but later changed on their carrd site (created in August), where they used the fans' nicknames instead.
- The subtitle of their one-year anniversary theme is 'Dream of Erde-Hund - Night Parade of 100 Demons'[39]. The word 'Erde-Hund' is German that literally translates to 'Earth Dog', referring to Mephistopheles in their lore.
- The word Erde-Hund may also be loosely based on Erdgeist, the 'Spirit of the Earth' from the book Faust.
- Unnämed's second outfit was inspired by Nurarihyon, a yokai often believed to be the 'supreme commander of monsters'. A Nurarihyon art can be found on their obi.
- The outfit also took big inspiration from their late grandfather, who used to wear kimono. They referenced their grandfather's way of speaking in their voice-acting too. [40]

- Whenever they go on semi-hiatus, they would often update their Twitter bio rather than tweeting normally.
- They sometimes wear glasses if they need to focus, claiming it makes them feel smarter.
- They are a dog lover.
- They are allergic to peanuts, dogs, and pollen.
- Allegedly, they have watched over 200 animes.
- Loves the bullet chat on Niconico that they made it as their chat layout.
- Unnämed is an artist, and has shown their old works on Twitter.
- They used to work for sales and designing at a printing company before switching to IT consultant. [41]
- Unnämed utilized three different types of meet-and-greet during Trails of Flame tour; full-body 3D hologram (Hong Kong ),[42] handshaking (Taipei),[43] and Live2D (Tokyo). [44]
