過去からやってきた最強の鬼 人間離れした身体能力に絶対的な自信を持っている が、仲間や部下のことを常に気にかけている |
Personality
Though Vox can be as mysterious and suave as his profile describes, he also has a sillier side that likes making crass jokes and doing impressions of characters/people, some of which being Gordon Ramsay, Walter White, Mario, and, to some degree, Wilson and Vanta.
Vox is prone to fanboy over things like FNAF, monkeys, and Runescape. He is also known for his hatred for the 2012 film, The Lorax. He seems to be quite a good cook, enjoying fancier, gourmet dishes. Despite how silly he often is, however, Vox can be wise and uses the knowledge he's accumulated over the years to give good life advice and support.
Appearance
He has long flowing black hair with red highlights a single hairpin. His eyes are bright yellow with pink shades on the upper side of his pupils. His bangs are long enough to reach his nose and cover his left eye. He has a single tassel-like earring on his right ear and wears red eyeliner. From 21 November until 22 November, Vox began a series of cryptic tweets that elude to his lore. 2023

During this stream, many Livers from Nijisanji and other vtuber talents played games with Vox in support of the event.[43][44] Vox had originally intended on raising funds for Rise Against the Disorder, but the organization was not available on YouTube Giving at the time.[45] Originally setting the donation goal at 50,000 USD, Vox later raised the donation goal to 100,000 USD after reaching 50,000 USD, ultimately raising over 126,308 USD and donating approximately 10,000 pounds sterling of his own money.[46][47]
On 21 April, Luxiem announced their second 2D outfits after a collab to be debuted the next day. For the reveal, Luxiem held a stream relay, allotting 30 minutes for each member, with Vox going fourth.[48] On 22 April, Luxiem debuted their second 2D outfits. Before revealing his outfit, Vox presented lore video detailing his arrival onto earth's surface.[49] Vox's second outfit contains more Japanese motifs compared to his previous. He dons a floating hagoromo with red ends that fades into black in the middle, his signature haori over a black and red kimono exposing his chest, a golden obi serving as a holster to his sword, tassel string hanging black and white beads, and black and red geta with forward facing heels.
Below his regular red stringed necklace sits a large necklace sitting with black beads with a red highlights alternating with small golden beads, and on the right side of his hair sits a golden encrusted black diamond hairpiece with a black bead and red tassel hanging from it. His hair is much longer with red highlights more distributed and is held back by a high ponytail with knotted string similar to his choker. His eyes are adorned with thicker red and black eyeliner and his right eye has a swirl that trails down to his cheek. His forehead also bears three markings between his eyebrows. Additionally, this outfit present Vox with pointed ears and horns. The base of the horns begin with the same tone of his skin and fade to black, with gold markings on either one. Each tip is also covered by golden caps with his left horn holding a golden ring.[50] Onigiri is noticeably missing from his outfit as Vox claims that he did not meet Onigiri at the time of wearing this outfit.[51] New goods featuring Luxiem's new outfits went up for sale on 1 May.[52]
On 8 August, Vox held a 12 hour charity stream in support of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. These strikes are currently ongoing as large corporations are leaning towards A.I. to replace writers and (background) actors, ultimately putting many writers and small actors out of job. Even before the strikes, it is estimated that 87% all actors in The United States do not earn enough to qualify for health insurance, and many writers suffer from unfair pay, so the charity will benefit writer who make a living solely off of writing and smaller actors who make a living off of being a background actor currently on strike across The United States.
Vox previous attended film school and was one semester away from graduating before being hired by Nijisanji. Therefore, these strikes and this charity stream are very important and personal to him. During this stream, many Livers from Nijisanji joined Vox and did several film-related games and activities. After 12 hours, Vox raised a total of 47,390 USD including 5,000 pounds sterling from his own pocket.[53][54]
On 28 October, Vox announced the release of his feature-length film The Demon Hungers. Oni Giri wrote the film, while Vox directed, edited, and produced the film. Several voice actors are members of the vtubing community, such as Jonah Scott, aka Alpha Aniki; AmaLee, Cellochicita, and Alexandra Saab, aka CyYu. Drawing is done by Melikas, art assistance by Nusha Animi and radiostarmaniac, title design and animation by Orihime and Saki, and poster design by Harutask. Additionally, Orihime designed the font featured on the poster. 45+ minutes of music was done by Diego/PrettyPatterns who regularly works with Enna and previously worked with Vox on his New Cydonia cover, sound design and mixing by Trace Callahan, and additional music by unit.0. Fellow Nijisanji EN liver Kotoka Torahime did the Japanese translation while Nox of VirtuaReal Link did the Chinese translation. The film will be released for free on 4 November, 22:00 JST/09:00 EST.[55]
On 4 November, The Demon Hungers premiered. On the same day, he streamed an afterparty-like stream titled The truth that serves as a rapidly informal third outfit reveal where he confirms and explains several major plot points from The Demon Hungers while in character of the third outfit. Further questions about the movie plot and his true nature and powers were explained in a QnA stream the following day.

- Vox shares his character designer, LAM, with Fulgur Ovid of NIJISANJI EN, Kureiji Ollie of hololive Indonesia, Choya Hanabi of VSPO!, and independent VTubers Ganba Ruuko, BakenVT, and RPR. LAM also illustrated Kujo Ringo, Kujo Natsume, Kujo Anzu, Kujo Lychee, and VAV AI.
Name
- "Vox Akuma" is a combination of Latin and Japanese and is a calque of his species as the "voice demon."
- "Vox" means "voice" in Latin.
- "Akuma" (悪魔) means "demon, devil" in Japanese
- On debut, his name is written as "ボックス悪魔" (Bokkusu Akuma) instead of the official "ヴォックス・アクマ" (Vokkusu Akuma). This was the only time it was spelt as such.[121]
- The given name uses the katakana for "bo" (ボ) rather than "vo" (ヴォ). "Bo" is how some Japanese may pronounce the kana "vo" as it is not native to Japanese, resulting in his name being a homophone to the Japanese pronunciation of "box."
- The surnames uses the Kanji for "akuma," rather than the katakana spelling. Using katakana instead of Kanji gives the name a foreign nuance.
Lore
Vox Akuma is a Voice Demon and has the power to influence or control others with his voice. This power is not absolute, but it harbors strong suggestion-making powers that compel people to follow his orders, even if listeners know the consequences are negative.[122]
Vox comes from the depths of hells and arrived onto earth from underground hell.[123] According to the tale title “The Death of Vox Akuma” from his debut stream, at the close of the Sengoku period, in 1614, Vox Akuma ruled over the small Akuma clan, which made its territory on Honshu's northernmost peninsula. This clan was formed of refugees that Vox had taken in during Japan's unification wars. When the Tokugawa shogunate tried to consolidate the Akuma clan under its control, Vox refused, causing Tokugawa to declare war. Tokugawa's army overwhelmed Vox's tiny militia and overran Akuma Castle, wiping out the Akuma clan. Secretly, Vox survived the battle thanks to his demonic blood, and lived on in secrecy until the present day.
However, in his film, The Demon Hungers and a follow-up stream titled The truth, he recounts the true story of his life with his clan. It is true that he ruled over a small clan and loved his people, but everyone that attempted to leave his castle would be killed. According to Vox, souls of recently deceased humans go up into the heavens, but if a demon is nearby, they gravitate towards the demon and are consequently absorbed. Since he needs human souls to sustain himself, he would kill the deserters and consume their souls. Tokugawa realized what was happening and decided to intervene, giving Vox an ultimatum of sorts. When they fought, and one of the soldiers was killed, their soul found his way to Vox who absorbed it, causing him to transform and go on a rampage, killing the people and consuming members of his clan. Tokugawa managed to defeat him, but he survived due to the enormous number of souls he consumed. Having hibernated for three years before waking up, the film The Demon Hungers recounts what happened to him afterwards and his struggle to balance his demonic need with his love of humans.
- After the fall of the Akuma clan, Vox lived in a self-imposed exile from Japan, living a quiet life of debauchery and avoiding the public eye.[124]
- In the 1920s, Vox met a Japanese-American bootlegger, a member of the Kaneshiro family. This man was able to identify Vox due to growing up with stories about the battle at Akuma Castle.
- In 1984, Vox met a group of youkai working for the mob in Miami, some of whom were old acquaintances. The leader of these youkai turned out to be Oni Giri, who had been trying to track down Vox ever since the fall of the Akuma clan.
- Vox has an attachment to the number 522, which was the size of the original Akuma clan.[125]
- He claims to not remember his own birthday. Therefore, he considers his birthday to be on 25 April, his clan's foundation.[126]
- Tokugawa died more or less two years after the battle with Vox's clan.
- During the reveal of his 3rd outfit, Vox revealed that as a Demon, he needs to consume human souls to live longer. He uses their souls as fuel for certain demonic abilities, which burns the souls in a painful manner.
- The consumed souls live in New Cydonia within Vox. It is an idealized place where souls reside after death and find peace.
- He can also consume animal's and yokai's souls but they only last him for some hours, after that he will be hungry again. If he keeps feeding on them, he will deteriorate.[127]
- He claims to have never used his powers to get someone to leave the clan as an excuse to kill them.
