Zhuni Excel is an independent male English-speaking Virtual YouTuber, composer, and singer.
He initially debuted as part of NexStage Project's first generation "CodeX", alongside Ayla Yew, Blair Labri, Plumarielle, and Jax Riot.
Zhuni retired from regular streaming activities on 22 August 2024, but began holding unscheduled streams again on 25 May 2025.

Profile[]
An absolutely ordinary human, Zhuni is not a mix of any mythical beings, animals, or spiritual entities. He does not have any supernatural abilities, Zhuni just works hard. As a young faculty member at a prestigious University, he often works late into the evening on his projects keeping himself company by quietly singing and making weird fart noises. Despite Zhuni’s success, he feels a bit empty. He hopes to find that spark and awe in life through music and meeting new friends.
Personality[]
Zhuni is marked by his passion for subjects that interest him. When the topic of a conversation shifts to a subject he feels strongly about, he will enthusiastically share his opinions and questions about it. He will sometimes incorporate his love of graphs and spreadsheets into these discussions, and he has produced several lengthy and detailed analyses on various music, anime, and even his own chat in this way.
Zhuni is often beleaguered by life challenges and awkward circumstances, in part because of all the trials his academic journey entails, but he finds ways to vent his frustrations creatively and humorously, whether through music or storytelling. He sometimes describes himself as having "grumpy old man" or "decrepit old man" energy, in the sense that he prefers to live life at his own pace and often finds the rush of life and the energy of the people around him to be a lot to handle.
Zhuni also has a more calm and thoughtful side, especially shown through his first original song "Where Are You Now?" He often goes out of his way to show support for his friends in the VTuber community and encourages others to do the same.
Appearance[]
Zhuni has red eyes and straight black hair with a noticeable ahoge, and wears glasses.
His outfit consists of a full-body black spandex suit with green highlights and a white lab coat, usually worn over his shoulders, with reflective green markings and purple padding on the inside. He has a utility belt containing a pouch and two test tubes, as well as protective plating on the sides of his legs.

Zhuni Excel's Twitter account was created in September 2022 and his YouTube channel was created on 8 December 2022.
On 1 November 2022, NexStage Project announced their first Vtuber group, CodeX.[1]
On 30 December 2022, NexStage Project announced the reveal of Zhuni Excel and uploaded a video revealing his design with "Zhuni's Research Begins!"
2023[]
On 6 January, NexStage Project uploaded a video announcing a 3D concert and variety show with the debuting talents of CodeX, which would take place on 6 March.
On 11 March, Zhuni debuted as a member of NexStage Project's first generation, CodeX. During his debut, Zhuni showcased his piano playing and beatboxing abilities.
On 6 December, Zhuni celebrated his YouTube channel monetization.[2]
2024[]
On 16 March, Zhuni and Ayla Yew performed in NexStage's 3D Live Concert RESURGENCE, featuring an original song "Break Out" produced by CircusP.[3] An HD remaster of the concert would later be uploaded to NexStage Project's YouTube channel.[4]
On 24 March, Zhuni premiered his first solo original song, "Where Are You Now?"
Dissolving[]
On 27 July, NexStage Project announced its closure at the end of August 2024.[5] In a stream held on the same day, Zhuni announced that he would retain the rights to his IP and character models, and planned to undergo a rebrand after NexStage Project's closure, after which he would upload music projects to the channel, but would no longer stream regularly.[6] By the end of this announcement stream, Zhuni decided to release a cover he had finished to produce: "I've No More F***s To Give".
On 22 August, Zhuni held his "Last Lecture" graduation stream. After this stream, he entered hiatus in order to focus on real-world commitments, although he remained active on social media and participated in some music-related collaborations.
2025[]
On 17 March, Zhuni updated his YouTube handle from @ZhuniExcel_NS to @DrZhuniExcel.
On 25 May, he streamed for the first time as an independent VTuber. He stated in this stream that he planned to stream more in the future, although subsequent streams would no longer be announced via schedule.[7]

- On 14 December 2024, Zhuni attended Anime Weekend Atlanta and featured in Ayla's performance of "Break Out" at the Event Horizon V-Idol Festival.[8]
- On 20 December 2024, Zhuni attended Oshi Oasis at Holiday Matsuri 2024, where he held a meet and greet and performed in a final live concert with Ayla.[9]

- Zhuni's oshi mark was originally 📊🔫, but was changed to 📊🎵 on his Twitter at some point after his rebrand and hiatus, presumably to reflect his greater focus on music going forward.
- Zhuni is known to dislike making schedules. After retiring from regular streaming, he posted Tweets celebrating not having to make a schedule every Sunday until early 2025, although he would eventually have to make a schedule for his appearance at Holiday Matsuri 2024.
- Zhuni has confirmed that, as of the end of 2025, he has been working on data analytics with Variance Project.[12]
